수출기업의 혁신활동, 혁신성과, 경영성과 간의 구조적 관계에 관한 연구 (A study on the Structural Relationship among Innovation Activity, Innovation Performance, and Business Performance of Export Firms)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship among innovation activities, innovation performance, and management performance of export firms. I first undertake a review of previous studies related to innovation activity, innovation performance, and export firms' innovation. Based on this, I set up a research model and hypotheses. First, The innovation activity is classified into product innovation activity, process innovation activity, and administrative innovation activity. Innovation performance is divided into product quality improvement and cost reduction. And the business performance is regarded as financial performance of export's firms. This study examined whether innovation activity affect innovation performance such as product quality improvement and cost reduction. In addition, I examined whether these innovation performance affects business performance (financial performance). To achieve this, a total of 368 questionnaires are used in this study and PLS (Partial Least Square) was used to analyze structural equation. As a result, this study shows that product innovation activity have a positive effect on product quality improvement, and process innovation activity also have a positive effect on product quality improvement. However, it was found that neither product innovation activity nor process innovation activity had an effect on cost reduction. And it was found that administrative innovation did not affect product quality improvement, but had a positive effect on cost reduction. Also, it was found that quality improvement, which is an innovation performance, did not affect the financial performance of export's firms, and cost reduction, which is an innovation performance, had a positive effect on the financial performance of the export's firms.

기업의 재무적 성과 향상을 위한 제품혁신 메커니즘 분석: 공정혁신, 조직혁신, 마케팅혁신의 조절효과를 중심으로 (How does Product Innovation Enhance Firm Performance?: The Moderating Role of Process Innovation, Organizational Innovation and Marketing Innovation)

  • 본 연구는 제품혁신이 기업의 재무적 성과에 미치는 영향을 측정하고, 공정혁신, 조직혁신, 마케팅혁신이 갖는 조절효과를 실증 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 '2010년 기술혁신조사 : 제조업부분' 자료와 '한국신용평가정보'의 재무자료를 결합하여 위계적 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과 공정혁신, 조직혁신과 마케팅혁신 모두가 제품혁신 활동과 기업의 성과관계를 조절하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 기업규모 및 연구개발집약도에 따른 산업 기술 수준별 그룹을 나누어 추가분석을 시도하였다. 그 결과 중기업, 대기업의 경우, 제품혁신과 공정혁신이 재무적 성과인 매출액에 결정적인 역할을 수행하는 반면, 소기업의 경우, 제품혁신과 조직혁신이 재무적 성과인 매출액에 결정적인 역할을 수행하는 것으로 나타났다. 연구개발집약도에 따른 산업별 분석에서는 첨단기술 산업군에서는 마케팅혁신이 제품혁신과 더불어 성과를 향상시키는 혁신 유형으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 기술혁신과 기업 성과와의 관계에서 기술혁신을 제품혁신, 공정혁신, 조직혁신과 마케팅혁신을 포함함으로써 기술혁신을 유형별로 세분화하였고 기업이 추구해야할 혁신 활동을 포괄적으로 살펴봄에 따라 기술혁신 간 영향관계를 새롭게 규명하였고 산업 기술 수준별, 기업 규모별 혁신과 성과 간의 관계를 살펴보았다.

중소기업의 혁신활동이 기업 성과에 미치는 효과: 관리혁신과 기술혁신의 공헌도 비교 (The relationship between innovation and corporate performance: which of administrative or technical innovation is more useful for performance)

  • This paper reviewed the relationship between innovation(organization innovation, personnel innovation, product innovation, process innovation) and firm performance in small business. Based on the responses from 218 firms, the results of multiple regression analysis showed that personnel innovation, product innovation, and process innovation effect positively on all firm performance(sales, profit, market share, customer satisfaction), and organization innovation effects positively only on market share and customer satisfaction. The results of hierarchical regression analysis showed that technical innovation(product innovation, process innovation) effects more positively on sales, profit and customer satisfaction than administrative innovation(organization innovation, personnel innovation).

Propensity to Innovate and Firm Performance in the Developing Economies: Evidence from ASEAN Countries

  • This paper employs datasets from the Enterprise Survey conducted by the World Bank to examine the relationship between four types of innovation defined by the Oslo Manual (OECD, 2005): product innovation, process innovation, marketing innovation, organization innovation, and the firm performance in the selected developing ASEAN economies. The main objective of this paper is to understand the characteristics of innovation activities at the firm level and how various innovation types affect firm performance. The empirical results from ASEAN manufacturing firms reveal that product innovation positively affects firms' performance, while non-technological innovations are negatively related to the performance of firms. The further employed quantile regression provides more insights into the roles of innovation types on different levels of firm performance: while product and process innovations actively contribute to the small and medium-size firms (below 25th quantile and median), organizational and marketing innovations negatively affect them. Interestingly, the role of process innovation decreases when firm performance grows.

기업가지향성 및 흡수역량이 기업성과에 미치는 영향 : 제품혁신성과의 매개효과 중심으로 (The Effects of Entrepreneurship Orientation and Absorptive Capacity on Corporate Performance : Focusing on Mediating Effects of Product Innovation Performance)

  • 본 연구는 기업가지향성과 흡수역량이 중소기업의 성과에 미치는 영향을 제품혁신성과의 매개효과를 중심으로 분석한다. 구조방정식 모델을 활용하여 중소기업의 기업성과에 중요한 영향을 미치는 기업가지향성과 흡수역량이 제품혁신성과(제품속도, 제품품질)를 매개로 성과에 이르는 경로를 규명한다. 실증연구를 위해 대전테크노파크 입주기업 등 총 1,775개 중소기업을 대상으로 설문조사를 시행하여 수집한 설문지 233부의 응답 내용을 구조방정식 모형을 활용하여 분석하였다. 실증분석결과 흡수역량과 기업가지향성이 제품혁신성과를 매개로 성과에 긍정적 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 기업가지향성과 흡수역량이 높을수록 제품속도와 제품품질을 높이고 제품혁신성과가 기업의 성과로 연결되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 기업의 전략 측면과 외부 정보 활용 역량 측면에서 기업가지향성과 흡수역량이 제품혁신성과를 높이고, 제품혁신성과가 기업의 성과로 이어진다고 볼 수 있다. 이러한 분석결과는 외부환경에 대응하여 우수한 품질의 제품을 더 빠르게 창출하여 성과를 높이는 데 기업의 전략과 외부 정보를 흡수 활용하는 흡수역량이 중요함을 시사하고 있다.

중소벤처기업의 기술혁신역량, 협업, 신제품개발성과 간의 구조적 관계 분석 (An Analysis of Structural Relationship between Technological Innovation Capability, Collaboration and New Product Development Performance in Small & Mid-sized Venture Companies)

  • 본 연구에서는 중소벤처기업의 기술혁신역량과 신제품개발성과가 상호 인과관계가 있음을 밝히고, 기술혁신역량을 강화하기 위한 수단으로 협업을 도입하면 신제품개발성과가 향상됨을 규명하였다. 연구방법으로는 국내 소재 중소벤처기업 R&D업무에 종사하는 실무담당자들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 중소 벤처기업의 기술혁신역량에 속하는 기술전략, 기술학습, 그리고 개방형 혁신이 신제품개발성과에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 신제품개발성과에 미치는 다수의 핵심전략으로서 협업을 선택한 결과, 협업이 신제품개발성과에 영향을 주는 전략임을 규명하였다. 아울러 협업을 도입하면 기술혁신역량이 신제품개발성과를 강화하는데 조절역할을 하는 지도 함께 살펴보았는데, 일반적인 협업은 기술전략 강화에는 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않지만, 협업에 따라서는 기술전략과 개방형 혁신이 강화되어 신제품개발성과의 크기에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 평가되었다.

제조기업의 제품혁신 영향요인에 관한 연구: 공급자 참여, 고객참여 및 경영성과를 중심으로 (A Study on the Factors Affecting Product Innovation of Manufacturing Companies: With a Focus on the Relationship between Participation of Suppliers, Customer and Business Performance)

  • The objective of the present study is to analyze the relationship of suppliers and customer participation in product development process and effects of such participation on product innovation since it is getting more and more weight in manufacturing companies. It is also aimed in this study to explore if business performance of manufacturing companies might be affected by the suppliers participation as well as product innovation that is realizable by such participation. From the analysis, following conclusions could be drawn: First, suppliers participation in manufacturing companies turned out to have influence upon product innovation (standardized coefficient=0.193, C.R=3.510), implying that nothing is more important than the role of suppliers who have intention to realize innovation through participation in manufacturing companies. Second, the analysis showed that customer participation exercised impact upon product innovation of manufacturing companies (standardized coefficient=0.686, C.R=6.433), suggesting that the more customer participate in product development process of manufacturing companies, the more manufacturing companies could sharpen their competitiveness. Third, it was made known from the analysis that the product innovation thanks to suppliers and customer participation in manufacturing companies could have influence upon their business performance (standardized coefficient=0.762, C.R=7.666), signifying that the product innovation of manufacturing companies might depend on the participation of suppliers and manufacturers and, in turn, could affect their own business performance.

전자업종 기업의 기술혁신역량과 기술사업화역량이 신제품개발성과에 미치는 영향과 R&D지원 유용성의 조절역할 (Effects of Technological Innovation Capability and Technology Commercialization Capability on New Product Performance of the Companies in Electronics Industry and the Moderating Role of Perceived Usefulness of Government R&D Support)

  • The purpose of this research was to test the effects of technological innovation capability and technology commercialization capability on new product performance of the companies in electronics industry and the moderating role of perceived usefulness of government R&D support. For this study, Research data were collected through questionnaire instruments from the sample of 346 employees in 17 electronics companies of metropolitan area. The 305 sample was selected and analyzed by hierarchical regression technique. The results showed that technological innovation capability and technology commercialization capability had a positive effect on new product performance. And also found out perceived usefulness of government R&D support had the moderate roles between only technical innovation system our of three technological innovation capability factors and new product performance, and also between only manufacturing capability our of three technological commercialization capability factors and new product performance. With the research results, the implications for electronics company were discussed, and the directions for future research were suggested.

기술협력 활동이 기업의 제품혁신 성과에 미치는 영향: 전유성의 조절효과를 중심으로 (Effect of Technological Collaboration on Firm's Product Innovation Output: The Moderating Roles of Appropriability)

  • 본 연구는 기업의 제품혁신 과정에서 기술협력 활동과 전유성의 확보가 제품혁신성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 살펴보았다. 추가적으로 협력활동과 전유성의 상호작용효과 (전유성의 조절효과)에 대하여 분석하였다. 과학기술연구원에서 조사한 2010년 한국 제조업의 기술혁신조사 자료를 이용한 실증분석 결과 고객과의 협력활동과 계열사와의 협력활동이 제품혁신에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 전유성의 그 자체로 제품 혁신에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 뿐만 아니라 고객과의 협력활동이 제품혁신에 주는 긍정적인 영향을 배가시키는, 다시 말해 제품혁신에서 전유성의 중요성이 확인되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 제품혁신 성과를 높이기 위한 전략적 시사점을 도출하였다. 제품혁신에서는 기술협력활동뿐만 아니라 전유성의 확보가 혁신성과를 결정하는 중요한 요인이기에 기업에서는 기술협력활동의 활성화 및 기술의 전유성 확보에 힘써야 할 것이며 이러한 전유성의 확보를 위한 기술보호 수단의 전략적 활용에 대한 통찰이 필요하다.

The Effects of Product Innovation, Process Innovation and Government Policy on SMEs Performance: Evidence from Indonesia

  • The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze product innovation and process innovation as an indicator of innovation that affects the performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Government policy as a moderator of the effect of innovation on performance. This research was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. The population in this study are SMEs that produce clothes and t-shirts in Indonesia. Data collection is done through questionnaires and direct interviews. Online questionnaires were given to the managers and business owners. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling based on certain conditions of the research object, and in this study 100 business units were selected. The result of loading factor correlation between indicator and latent construct is significant. Hypothesis which explored the linear relationship between the construct variables was tested. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used. The results of this study indicate that there is a positive relationship between innovation and business performance, and government policies have an important role as a full moderator in this relationship. The study findings concluded that the government policies are an important instrument in supporting the development of SMEs by innovating product and process innovation.
