This paper analyzed price asymmetry of domestic petroleum products by distribution stage. Analyzing the asymmetry by distribution stage, we can investigate the gap between analysis results and consumers' perception. For the first stage, we analyzed asymmetries between retail prices including tax and the spot prices of crude oil. The results show that retail price increases more quickly in response to the crude oil prices rise than to the crude oil prices fall as consumers' perception. For the second stage, we analyzed asymmetry of international petroleum product prices in Korean Won with the change in the crude oil spot prices. The results show that international petroleum product prices increase higher in response to the crude oil prices increase than to the crude oil prices decrease. For the final stage, we examined the asymmetry of wholesale price and retail price with the change in the international petroleum product prices in Korean Won. The results show that wholesale prices increase more quickly in response to the crude oil prices rise than to the international petroleum product prices fall. The retail prices, however, decrease more quickly in response to the crude oil prices fall than to the international petroleum product prices rise.
Since the liberalization of petroleum product prices in 1997, there has been persistent suspicion with regard to asymmetry in the movement of petroleum product prices in Korea. In particular, academics and consumer groups suggest that prices decided by refining companies and gas stations have moved asymmetrically compared with international petroleum product prices. The primary aim of this study is to determine, using the Error Correction Model, to perform multi-country asymmetry analysis including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Japan. We shows that comparison of domestic prices with international prices in the six countries mentioned above revealed a fairly low level of asymmetry in those countries, although some asymmetry was found in some countries at various times within the period of analysis. To explain the different degrees of asymmetry between countries, this study looked at asymmetry in the United States, Germany and Italy and sought correlations between each country's oil industry structure and its level of competition.

To analyze any given situation, it is necessary to have information on elements which affect the situation. Particularly, there is greater variability in both frequency and magnitude of agricultural product prices as they are affected by various unpredictable factors such as weather conditions etc. This is the reason why it is difficult for the farmers to maintain their stable income through agricultural production and marketing. In this research, attempts are made to quantify the entropy of various situations inherent in the price changes so that the stability of farmers' income can be increased. Through this research, we developed an entropy model which can quantify the uncertainties of price changes using the probability distribution of price changes. The model was tested for its significance by comparing its simulation outcomes with actual ranges and standard deviations of price variations of the past using monthly agricultural product prices data. We confirmed that the simulation results reflected the features of the ranges and standard deviations of actual price variations. Also, it is possible for us to predict standard deviations for changed prices which will occur after a certain time using the information entropy obtained from relevant agricultural product price data before the time.
In this paper, we analyzed the impact of temperature and precipitation on agricultural product prices and predicted the prices of major agricultural products using TensorFlow. As a result of the analysis, the rise in temperature and precipitation had a significant effect on the rise in prices of cabbage, radish, green onion, lettuce, and onion. In particular, prices rose sharply when temperature and precipitation increased simultaneously. The prediction model was useful in predicting agricultural product price changes due to climate change. Through this, agricultural producers and consumers can prepare for climate change and prepare response strategies to price fluctuations. The paper can contribute to understanding the impact of climate change on agricultural product prices and exploring ways to increase the stability and sustainability of agricultural product markets. In addition, it provides important data to increase agricultural sustainability and ensure economic stability in the era of climate change. The research results will also provide useful insights to policy makers and can contribute to establishing effective agricultural policies in response to climate change.
Purpose - Multi-dimensional prices comprise multiple components such as monthly payments and a number of payments rather than a single lump-sum amount. According to previous studies, an increase in the number of price dimensions leads to a massive amount of cognitive stress resulting in incorrect calculation, and deterioration in the consistency of the price judgment. However, an increase only in the level of complexity of calculating multi-dimensional prices does not always result in a corresponding decrease in the accuracy of price evaluation. Since diverse variables could affect consumers' purchase-decision-making process, the results of price evaluation would be different. In this study, an empirical analysis was performed to determine how the accuracy of price evaluation varies depending on the extent of the complexity of price dimensions using product involvement and brand preference as moderating variables. Research design, data, and methodology - A survey was conducted on 260 students, and 252 effective responses were used for analysis. The data was analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, and two-way ANOVA. In this study, six hypotheses were developed to examine the effect of product involvement and brand preference on consumers' evaluation effort of multi-dimensional prices. Results - As the number of price dimensions increased, accuracy of price evaluation appeared to be low in high involvement, as expected. However, it showed no differences in price evaluation effort when the level of complexity of calculating multi-dimensional prices is low. When a small number of price dimensions are presented in both cases of high and low involvement, accuracy of price evaluation is much higher in a weak brand preference. On the contrary, a strong brand preference enhances an accuracy of price evaluation only in case of low involvement when the number of price dimensions is increased. An interaction effect of product involvement and brand preference on consumers' evaluation of multi-dimensional prices did not exist irrespective of the level of complexity of calculating prices being high or low. Conclusions - When the number of price dimensions is small, consumers' effort for price evaluation shows almost no difference without the moderating effect of involvement, and a weak brand preference leads to a higher accuracy of price evaluation in an effort to make the best selection. No interaction effect of product involvement and brand preference was found except for a main effect of brand preference. When a price is composed of multiple dimensions rendering it more difficult to calculate the final price, the effort for price evaluation was expected to decrease only slightly in case of combination of high involvement and strong brand preference. This is because people have a higher purchase intentions and trust for that particular brand. However, the accuracy of price evaluation was much lower in cases of high involvement, and there was no interaction effect between product involvement and brand preference except for a main effect of involvement and brand preference, respectively.
The prediction of prices of agricultural products in the agriculture IT sector plays a significant role in the economic life of consumers and anyone engaged in agricultural business, and as these prices fluctuate more often than do other prices, the prediction of these prices holds a great deal of research promise. For this reason, academic literature has provided studies on the factors influencing the prices of agricultural products and the price index. However, as these factors vary, they are difficult to predict, resulting in the challenge of acquiring quantitative data. China is one example of a country without a reliable prediction system for prices of agricultural products. Fortunately, disclosed heterogeneous data can be found on the Internet, which allows for the effective collection of factors related to the prediction of these product prices through the use of text mining. The data provided online is valuable in that they reflect the opinions of the general public in real-time. Accordingly, this study aims to use heterogeneous data from the Internet and suggest a model predicting the prices of agricultural products before functional analyses. Toward this end, data analyses were conducted on the Chinese agricultural products market, one of the largest markets in the world.
This paper examines structural breaks and asymmetries of prices of four domestic petroleum products, i.e., gasoline, kerosene, diesel, and bunker-C, following the changes in the pricing policies pertaining to petroleum products in Korea from the government-controlled pricing system to the market pricing system. We use the monthly wholesale market price data for the sample period between July 1988 and December 2001. Using the four methods: the Chow test, the CUSUM/CUSUMQ tests, the Bayesian approach and the Dufour test, the structural behaviors of the petroleum product prices are examined. We found that structural change occurred in all petroleum products, with the exception of Kerosene, at the point of pricing policy change from government-controlled to the spot-price related pricing system. We, also conducted asymmetric analysis using the Borenstein, Cameron, and Gilbert (1997)'s model and found evidences of price asymmetry for all four product types, but in different pattern for each product.
The paper demonstrates that versioning of digital products occurs more frequently than that of physical products because of low marginal cost. The versioning occurs no matter what a customer knows his/her reservation price. Low-quality version will not be produced when the difference between reservation prices is very large. The paper also shows that a firm tries to lower the quality of low-quality product to prevent customers with high reservation prices from purchasing low-quality product.

The prices of chemical products are fluctuated by several factors. The chemical companies can't predict and be ready to all of these changes, so they are exposed to the risk of a profit fluctuation. But they can reduce this risk by making a well-diversified product portfolio. This problem can be thought as the optimization of the product portfolio. We assume that the profits come from the 'spread' between a naphtha and a chemical product. We calculate a mean and a variation of each spread and develop an automatic module to calculate the optimal portion of each product. The theory is based on the Markowitz portfolio management. It maximizes the expected return while minimizing the volatility. At last we draw an investment selection curve to compare each alternative and to demonstrate the superiority. And we suggest that an investment selection curve can be a decision-making tool.

Purpose - This study aims to offer the suggestions for the researches and policies that could be used as important data to effectuate future FTA. The objective of this study is to suggest a direction of Korea that can form a new logistics hub in Northeast Asia. Research design, data, and methodology - This study was conducted in parallel with literature review and empirical studies for the analysis. 180 valid samples were collected from Korean consumers', and qualitative analysis was employed on the satisfaction level of imported goods welfare of Korean consumers. Results - It is expected that Korea and China would experience increased opportunity factors in this area with the growth of economic sphere in Northeast Asian. If existing problems are solved by utilizing regional environment efficiently together, the hub function of Northeast Asia logistics will be advanced. Conclusions - Korea is introducing and operating special economic zones that provide the exception and support for foreign investment. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the prices of imported goods, so that the exporters can adjust the prices and obtain the unjust profit equivalent to the tariff reduction by grasping the overseas market trends of the imported product prices.
