Product Liability is concerned with liability of a product itself. But, viewing from the management standpoint, Product Liability may have more significant influence on additional sales of the product after it has been supplied into the market. With regard to this, this study tried to make the following: First, this study examined the concept of 'Product Liability and enterprises' management attitude toward Product Liability. Secondly, through the case-analyses of Product Liability, a correlation study had been attempted to know the influence of corporate cultures and product safety activities on business management. Thirdly, this study tried to find the directions of Product Liability at the level of total management strategy.

Beginning from July. 2000, the product liability of Korea is designed for reduction of customer loss by defective products. Therefore, most of company are supposed to be ready for taking care of safety and quality of products. ISO9001：2000 quality management system reform to emphasize continual improvement of the process with customer satisfaction. First of all, this paper start with introduction motive of the product liability and examine distinctive mark of the ISO9001：2000 quality management system. We consider the correlation between ISO9001：2000 quality management system and product liability and would like to propose product liability prevention by ISO9001：2000 quality management system with classification a defect style of product, the management guide and the law case.

Since the introduction of product liability law from America in 1960s, product liability has been on the rise as an important problem to the quality management of company and consumer's safety. Together with this, before the legislation of product liability system in Korea, the sense and level of company and consumer about product safety are rapidly changing, In times like the present, ensuring more systematic product safety and consumer safety, and the buildup need of competitive power in accordance with product liability prevention of company grows raising. Therefore, this study presents the most effectively manageable ways of product liability the side of safety management of consumers and companies through the ensuring ways and activity models of product safety and certification system in company.

Human, physical damage is happened frequently to consumer's safety accident by product defect on modern industrial society. Accordingly, advanced nation including the United States of America enforce product liability law and is protecting consumer more actively from danger of product defect. Our country(Korea) may enforce product liability law since July, 2002, and if business does not grope effective confrontation way about PL, capital strength weak smaller enterprise and venture business corporation's competitive power may affect much corporation's competitive power enfeeblement and survival. This research supplement based on induction and operating QMS in smaller enterprise essential factor that corporations must equip according to product liability law enforcement. And we present integration quality management system model of Product liability to do so that smaller enterprises may can cope effectively at force of Product liability law.

Product liability is the law of the manufacturer's responsibilities for the consumers' personal injuries or the losses of property resulted from defective products. In today's many countries, the product liability law are being enacted because of the safety of product use and the protection of consumer's right. In korea, the product liability is going to enforce on July 1, 2002. Though the construction of product liability response system is urgent situation, domestic manufacture company's PL response system is not nearly prepared in present. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to discuss the Quality Management's importance and the PL countermeasures by presenting the difference of PL response system construction degree by the Quality Management Maturity degree

In this research, we investigate the countermeasure of Product Liability through existing research or books for reference about PL and ISO 9001 : 2000 quality management system. And we analyze relation between PL system and ISO 9001 : 2000 Quality Management System after compare ISO 9001 : 2000 and ISO 9000 : 1994. base on this analysis, we integrate the Quality Management System of company and an important factor of PL system in accordance with the product liability law. So we present a general improvable scheme of ISO 9001 quality management system that reduces overlap of quality business and utilize efficiently.

Subsequently in Korea product liability has been introduced. The position of consumers for defective products have been disadvantageous. Defective products should be broght under the law. Then, while consumers would be largely protected, a producer would take the heavy responsibility by law, Therefore, a producer would not be able to take countermeasures for product liability. Object of this paper to investigate and analyze the actual state of management for product liability in advanced countries, and to join it with our quality management system.

Many countries are enforcing the Product Liability Act to ask the responsibility for the supply of the safe products. Thus, the safety of the product becomes one of the most important elements in modern corporate management. Diamond tool industries producing risk-high products cannot make an except to this situation.
