Bilateral Trade Potential of IP Sensitive Products: A Comparative Study of India and China

  • This study examines performances and varieties of export of IP sensitive products across emerging countries, namely, India and China by utilizing 6-digit disaggregated product-level export data. Further, this study constructs trade margins - extensive and intensive margins to understand trade potential and different trade patterns, specifically, exporters' productivity, product diversification, and volume of trade during 2007-2016. This study finds India's performance is comparable with China at the extensive margin though the gap between India and China is very wide in terms of the total value of exports and the intensive margin. China majorly exports more expensive electronics and manufacturing-related products as opposed to relatively cheaper medicinal and synthetic products, the total value of exports from China to the rest of the world is much higher than that of India. This study suggests that India is exporting IP-sensitive products to lower-income countries sufficiently, but the IP-sensitive exports to higher-income countries are still lagging.

Nutritional and Sensory Quality of Prepared Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) Leather

  • Tomato has a limited shelf life and is highly perishable due to its high moisture content. As fruit leather, is a traditional food of Nepal, it can be beneficial to move towards value addition and diversification of the traditional product. The main aim was to analyze the nutritional values and phytochemicals of the tomato pulp and prepared leather, and sensory evaluation of prepared tomato leather. Five samples A, B, C, D and E were prepared with 80:20, 72.5:27.5, 95:5, 87.5:12.5 and 65:35 fruit pulp: sugar ratio respectively. Analysis of raw tomato pulp and all the five samples was performed. Sensory quality of the product sample A was found superior to that of other samples but chemical and phytochemical properties of product sample C was found superior than that of other prepared samples. Therefore, we had two best products, in terms of sensory properties and in terms of nutritional properties. The best product on the basis of nutrients (sample C) had acidity (%), TSS (°Bx), pH, total ash content (%), crude protein (%), crude fat (%), crude fiber (%), carbohydrate (%), vitamin C (mg/100 g), total energy (Kcal/100 g), TPC (mg GAE/g of dry extract), TFC (mg QE/g of dry extract), DPPH scavenging activity (% of inhibition) and lycopene content (mg/100 g) was found to be 3.70.1, 20 ± 0.02, 3 ± 0.1, 2.30 ± 0.05, 2.69 ± 0.04, 0.87 ± 0.02, 5.46 ± 0.01, 69.68 ± 0.02, 25.17 ± 1.25, 297.31 ± 0.01, 85.35 ± 0.02, 65.39 ± 0.02, 59.23 ± 0.03 and 98.57 ± 0.02 respectively. A tasty and nutritious product of tomato, leather can be prepared which can be more appealing to the consumer.

기업 브랜드 이미지 구축을 위한 디자인 전략으로서의 제품 이미지 집중 체계 (Product Image Concentration System as a Design Strategy to Build Corporate Brand Image)

  • 본 연구는 성공적인 기업 브랜드 이미지의 구축을 위한 전략으로서 브랜드 인지도에 의한 제품가치의 향상의 필요성을 확인하고 그 실행 방법으로서 크게 브랜드 이미지 분석과 이를 바탕으로 하는 제품 이미지 프로그래밍, 그리고 제품 이미지의 정합성 평가와 관리의 세 단계로 구성되는 제품 이미지 집중 체계 (PICS : Product Image Concentration System)를 제안하여 기업의 경쟁력 강화와 브랜드 관리를 위한 지침으로 활용하도록 하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 먼저 브랜드 이미지 분석은 이미지 연상기법을 통하여 브랜드 이미지의 성향을 파악하는 방법으로서, 제시된 시각적 자료와의 관여방식을 분석하여 기업이미지와 브랜드 이미지의 인지 방향을 측정하고 분석한다. 다음으로 제품 이미지 프로그래밍은 이와 같은 브랜드 이미지에 대한 분석을 바탕으로 디자인철학(Design Philosophy)과 디자인 원칙(Design Principles)을 정립하고, 비쥬얼 포지션 프로그래밍(Visual Position Programming)을 통하여 제품이미지의 지향방향을 가시화 하는 과정이다. 마지막으로 제품이미지 정합성 평가는 디자인 철학과 디자인 원칙의 적용 여부 등을 평가하여 브랜드에 정합한 디자인을 개발할 수 있도록 평가의 기준점을 제시하기 위한 것이다. 이와 같은 제품 이미지 집중 체계 (PICS : Product Image Concentration System)는 기업의 경쟁력 강화와 브랜드 관리를 위한 실제적인 방법으로서 디자인 작업에 있어서 이미지의 주관성으로 인한 계획과 적용 그리고 관리의 문제를 보다 객관적으로 해결하는 지침으로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대되며, 향후 표현중심어에 따른 이미지 스펙트럼의 세분화와 이미지의 비교 분석, 또 여기에 나타난 시각적 질서를 규명하는 제품 이미지 해석 프로그램에 대한 연구가 지속되어야 할 것이다.

  • This study shed light on the status of Korean Kimchi industry in overseas markets and presented methods for promoting Kimchi industry of Gwangju Jeonnam metropolitan city and stimulating the export of Kimchi produced in Gwangju Jeonnam, a city that has come to the fore as the center of Kimchi industry, which aimed to explore the ways of ratcheting up competitiveness of Kimchi industry in the global market as Kimchi has become more likely to be globalized amid the recent "Korea Trend" boom and the growing consumption of fermented food. Therefore, methods for promoting Kimchi industry and stimulating the export of Kimchi should be explored to ensure the promotion of Kimchi industry and the stimulation of the export of Kimchi, ultimately restoring the status of Korea as the home of Kimchi, in consideration of the great spillover effect on the regional economy, through a series of measures such as the clusterization of Kimchi industry, expansion of cultural experience projects related to Kimchi for the globalization and the increased consumption of Kimchi, government support to increase Kimchi companies in size and achieve the modernization of Kimchi companies, introduction of Kimchi KS audit system and quality certification system, development of new product targeting global market and making Kimchi a high-end product, expansion of export, support of export market diversification, assurance of safety and price competitiveness of Kimchi, differentiated production and marketing strategy by means of technological research, and others.

Influence of "Historical Effects" on the Rheological Properties of a Polyacrylonitrile Copolymer Solution

  • Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) copolymers of different molecular weights were synthesized by a suspension polymerization and precipitation polymerization method. The rheology behaviors of the synthesized PAN copolymers were investigated in relation to their molecular weight, solid content and melting temperature. The influence of "historical effects" on the spinning solution of PAN was studied by analyzing the laws of viscosity considering the diversification time and temperature. The viscosity disciplines of each spinning solution conformed well to the rheological universal laws in a comparison of the suspension polymerization product with that of precipitation polymerization. Viscosity changes in the swelling process of dissolution were gentler in the suspension polymerization product; a small amount of water will quickly debase the solution viscosity, and high-speed mixing can greatly shorten the time required by the spinning solution to reach the final viscosity.

양모 방축가공에 따른 물리적 성질 변화 (A Study on Physical Properties of Wool with Shrink-resist treatment and Felting)

  • In this study, the effect of shrink-resist treatment agent on the wool finishing, specifically anti-felting of wool product was studied. We aimed at providing preliminary data leading to the diversification of high-value added fashionable wool product. Two type of wool fabrics, dense and sheer, were employed. The fabric specimens were treated with solutions of shrink-resist treatment agent with wet pick-up rate 110%, 130%, and 150%, respectively, by using a padding mangle. The solution treated fabric specimens were then dried at room temperature first, at $90^{\circ}C$ for 15 minutes in a drying oven, and finally cured at $130^{\circ}C$ for 3 minutes. Cured wool fabric specimens were then subjected to a felting process. The physical and mechanical properties, including shrinkage rate along warp/filling direction, thickness at specified measurement pressure, drape stiffness, and air-permeability, were analyzed. After felting process, the shrinkage rates of wool fabric specimens, treated with shrink-resist treatment agent, were lower than those of control wool fabric specimens. The stiffness values of wool fabric specimens measured by using Flexometer were increased.

  • 현대 자본주의 사회가 대량생산체제에서 유연적 전문화 생산체제로 질적인 변화를 겪고 있다는 주장이 사회과학계를 풍미하고 있다. 이 글의 목적은 이러한 柔軟化論者들의 주장을 개관하고 그 문제점을 살피는 데 있다. 유연적 전문화 논의는 개념 자체가 지극히 관념적이고, 상대적일 뿐만 아니라 학자들 간에 용어사용에 대한 의견일치가 이루어지지 안하아 현재 혼란의 와중에 있다. 유연적 생산체제로의 移行은 二分論的인 설명방식의 사용으로 과장된 측면이 많은데, 실제는 선진 자본주의 국가에 있어서도 매우 부분적으로만 진행되고 있는 상태이다. 한국의 경제와 국토공간은 대규모 기업집단과 그들의 중층적 하청조직에 의해 그 골격이 형성되어 있는 관계로 柔軟化論의 한국에의 적용은 많은 注意를 요한다. 현재의 혼란으로부터 벗어나기 위해 가장 우선적으로 해결해야 할 문제점은 용어의 적용대상 및 적용범위를 통일하는 일이다.

  • 지금은 '개발기간 단축, 고품질'을 위한 종합적인 대처를 요하는 시대이다. 제품은 점차 복잡화되고 그 종류 또한 다양화되어 가는 반면 제품의 생애주기(Life Cycle)는 축소되고 있다. 이러한 무한경쟁시대에 있어 적자생존의 확실한 해답은 기업스스로 개발기간 및 납기를 단축시키고 제품개발에 앞장서며, 제품의 생애주기 원가를 절감시켜 성능과 가치 양면을 동시에 고객에게 감동 줄 수 있는 품질을 확보하는 데에 있다. 이와 같은 측면에서 프로세스의 각 공정을 동시 병행적으로 개발하는 '동시공학'은 건설에 있어 중요한 개념으로 인식되고 있다. 본 연구는 동시공학을 성공적으로 적용하기 위하여 문헌 및 여러 가지 사례를 조사, 분석하고 그것들이 각 프로세스에 미치는 영향을 시뮬레이션 실행을 거쳐 의사결정 모델로 제시한다.

패션 브랜드의 반려견 패션산업 진출 사례의 특성 고찰 (A Study on the Characteristics of a Fashion Brand's Entry into the Pet Fashion Industry)

  • This case study investigates fashion brands that have entered the pet fashion market. A total of 25 cases were identified and analyzed from three perspectives: 1) product types, size systems, prices, 2) design aspects, fabrics, patterns, styles, and 3) marketing strategies. The study results are as follows. First, the product types of pet fashion are not diverse, and only the sizes of small dogs can be found. However, there is a significant price difference between brands. Second, knitted fabrics with good elasticity are mainly used for pet fashion products, and patterns incorporating their brands are extremely common. The style is casual and sporty. Third, marketing strategies should include a new line within a brand or launch a single specialized brand as a one-shot test for consumer reaction. Additionally, it has been expanded and presented as a family look to meet the needs of the petfam. Further, existing fashion brands and retail-based brands select diverse small-scale dog fashion product brands and expand their operation as a dog lifestyle total selectional shop. Therefore, brands entering the future should consider strategies such as size segmentation, product diversification, and premium price of high-quality materials that help market products such as the expansion or promotion of existing brands.

The analysis of consumers' satisfaction about the 6th industry antenna shops

  • The 6th industrialization, which is the policy strategy to combine the 1st, 2nd, 3rd agro-food industries in order to create synergy effects, is one of the most important policy strategies for the Korean government. Local governments as well as the central government, especially the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, have introduced various specific programs for the 6th industrialization. Among them, the 6th industry antenna shops located in Cheonan and Daejeon which were introduced by the Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Government to offer a better market place for 6th industry producers. However, few studies have been conducted to evaluate the performance of 6th industry antenna shops. The purpose of this paper is to analyze consumers' satisfaction of 6th industry antenna shops through survey and econometric modeling and to present some implications of the better operation of the 6th industry antenna shops. The results of the studies in this paper present some of the following findings: first, the overall level of satisfaction towards 6th industry antenna shops is high but consumers still claim some problems. Second, products which are sold at 6th industry antenna shops have important problems, including high prices and deficient product variety. Third, if these problems were fixed, the operation of 6th industry antenna shops would be successful and contribute to the development of 6th industrialization in Korea.
