  • According to the $7^{th}$ reform of high school education curriculum, contents on probability and statistics in mathematics of high school curriculum have been expanded compared to the previous curriculum. Thus if the curriculum contains the contents to achieve the goals for probability and statistics, more efficient education on statistics is expected to meet the needs of information age. In this thesis, we studied through network analysis if contents on probability and statistics in mathematics of high school curriculum are composed to achieve the goals. We reviewed contents on probability and statistics in mathematics of the $7^{th}$ reform of high school curriculum whether they are conformed the purpose and direction of the reform or not. As a result, the concept of probability distribution and statistical estimation with a random variable was described clearly. But, census and sample survey were not connected with other items. In a part, there were expressional mistakes.

  • In this paper, the probability that a given point is covered by a random convex hull generated by independent and identically-distributed random points in a plane is studied. It is shown that such probability can be expressed in terms of an integral that can be approximated numerically by function-evaluations over the grid-points in a 2-dimensional space. The new integral representation allows such probability be computed efficiently. The computational burdens under the proposed integral representation and those in the existing literature are compared. The proposed method is illustrated through numerical examples where the random points are drawn from (i) uniform distribution over a square and (ii) bivariate normal distribution over the two-dimensional Euclidean space. The applications of the proposed method in statistics are are discussed.

  • The probability of default on the credit evaluation study is represented as a linear combination of two distributions of default and non-default, and the distribution of the probability of default are generally known in most cases. Except the well-known Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistic for testing the identity of two distribution, Kuiper, Cramer-Von Mises, Anderson-Darling, and Watson test statistics are introduced in this work. Under the assumption that the population distribution is known, modified Cramer-Von Mises, Anderson-Darling, and Watson statistics are proposed. Based on score data generated from various probability density functions of the probability of default, the modified test statistics are discussed and compared.

  • In this thesis, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current situation and the inherent problems found in modern statistics education in Korea. We investigate the American probability and statistics curriculum currently used in Wisconsin and discuss the overall state of statistics education in The United States. Through comparison of both the Korean and Wisconsin model, we explore the future direction of statistical education.

  • Because the probability education in the elementary statistics course is the starting part of the inferential statistics, it is hard to follow the lecture for undergraduate students. In this paper, we suggest the useful cases for the probability education in the elementary statistics course and give the corresponding R scripts.

  • A partial amendment of probability and statistics education in Korea has carried out from January, 2007. We have compared between the patial amendment and 7th national mathematics curriculum. Some ideas are proposed to achieve goals of the revision; textbooks of mathematics are well supervised by well-trained statisticians and teachers are periodically trained for the statistical knowledge.

  • The history of statistics from the mid-seventeenth to the early twentieth century is considered and a scheme of periodization is proposed. In the first period(1650-1750), named 'the age of probability' in this paper, concept of probability emerged, and in the second period(1750-1820), named 'the age of error theory', statistical techniques such as the least square method are developed by astronomers and geodesists. Their techniques are supported theoretically by mathematicians like Laplace and Gauss in that period. The third period(1820-1880) is called 'the age of statistics(as a plural noun)' since statistical data played prominent roles in social sciences such as sociology, psychology. Finally the last period(1880- ), called 'the age of statistics(as a singular noun)', the discipline of statistics came to maturity both in theory and application.

  • We can use R package as a statistical package on the education of probability and statistics in elementary, middle and high school mathematics. R is an interactive mode package and graphical presentation tools in R are powerful. The greatest advantage is that R is a general public license package. We need to consider R package as a standard statistical package on the education of probability and statistics in elementary, middle and high school mathematics.

  • In this paper, we propose a class of imputed estimators using response probability. The proposed estimator can be justified under the response probability model and thus is robust against the failure of the assumed imputation model. We also propose a variance estimator that is justified under the response probability model.
