폴리아세탈 소재의 확률론적 변형률-수명선도 평가 (An Evaluation of Probabilistic Strain-Life Curve in Polyacetal)

  • In order to evaluate variation of fatigue life of mechanical components including engineering plastics, it is important to estimate probabilistic strain-life curves to accurately define the variation of fatigue characteristics. This paper intends to provide new assessment of P-$\varepsilon$-N (probabilistic strain-life curves) for considering the variation of fatigue characteristics in polyacetal. The fatigue strain controlled tests were conducted under constant 50% humidity and room temperature condition by a universal testing machine at strain ratio, R=0. A practical procedure is introduced to evaluate probabilistic strain-life curves. Three probabilistic distributions were used for generating P-$\varepsilon$-N curves such as normal, 2-parameter and 3-parameter Weibull. In this study, 3-parameter Weibull distribution was found to be most appropriate among assumed distributions when the probability distributions of the fatigue characteristic were examined using chi-square and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. The more appropriate P-$\varepsilon$-N curves for these materials are generated by the proposed method considering 3-parameter Weibull distribution.

  • 본 연구의 주목적은 마그네슘합금의 피로균열성장거동을 지배하는 파라미터들의 확률론적 특성을 규명하는 것이다. 피로균열전파실험은 AZ31 마그네슘합금의 CT 시편을 이용하여 통계적으로 수행하였으며, 시편두께, 하중비, 최대하중 등의 여러 가지 실험조건으로 실온에서 진행하였다. 이 실험을 통하여 획득한 통계적 피로 데이터를 이용하여 피로거동 파라미터의 확률적 변동성 해석과 함께 확률분포 적합성을 고찰하였다. 균열성장속도계수는 확률적으로 매우 큰 변동성을 나타내는 파라미터로 밝혀졌으며, 반면에 균열성장속도지수는 매우 작은 변동성을 나타냄으로써 재료상수로 볼 수 있을 것이다. 피로거동 파라미터인 균열성장속도계수와 균열성장속도지수에 가장 적합한 확률분포는 3-파라미터 Weibull 분포이며, 2-파라미터 Weibull 분포는 균열성장속도계수의 경우에만 양호한 적합성을 나타낸다는 것을 규명하였다.

  • In this paper, S(stochastic)-eigenvalue concept and its S-eigenvector for linear continuous-time systems with probabilistic uncertainties are proposed. The proposed concept is concerned with the perturbation of eigenvalues due to the probabilistic variable parameters in the dynamic model of a plant. S-eigenstructure assignment scheme via the Sylvester equation approach based on the S-eigenvalue concept is also proposed. The proposed design scheme is applied to the longitudinal dynamics of open-loop-unstable aircraft with possible uncertainties in aerodynamic and thrust effects as well as separate dynamic pressure.

  • In this study, probabilistic reliability analysis was conducted for hybrid rocket performance using Monte-Carlo Simulation. For the accuracy, reliability analysis was performed with experimental data. To simplify the analysis process, the oxidizer was supplied with constant pressure, so that pressure variation with time can be eliminated. And time-space averaged regression rate model was used. The regression rate is obtained with a series of experiments. For reliability analysis of thrust, constant exponent of regression rate is assumed that has probabilistic character. So, the efficiency of characteristic velocity has also probabilistic values. As a results, probability distribution of the thrust is obtained by Monte-Carlo simulation using random samples of the input parameter and validated under the 95% confidence level.

  • 지반정수의 신뢰성 높은 확률분포형을 결정하기 위해서는 분석자료에 대한 이상치 및 무작위성 검정, 적용한 확률 분포형의 매개변수 추정 및 매개변수 적합성 검정, 마지막으로 확률분포형의 적합성 검정의 과정이 필요하며, 위의 순서로 지반정수의 확률분포형을 산정할 것을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서는 제안한 절차에 따라 분석대상 지반으로 선정된 인천 송도지역 지반정수들의 확률분포형을 추정하였으며, 추가로 지반정수들의 변동성을 나타내는 변동계수를 산정하였다. 이와 같이 신뢰성 높은 지반정수들의 확률분포형과 변동계수는 확률론적 설계방법에 사용될 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 결정론적 설계에 사용될 지반정수의 합리적인 결정에 사용될 수 있는 중요한 자료로 판단된다.

일정진폭하중하의 확률론적 피로균열전파거동 (Probabilistic Fatigue Crack Growth Behavior under Constant Amplitude Loads)

  • In this paper, an analysis of fatigue crack growth behavior from a statistical point of view has been carried out. Fatigue crack growth tests were conducted on sixteen pre-cracked compact tension (CT) specimens of the pressure vessel (SPV50) steel in controlled identical load and environmental conditions. The assessment of the statistical distribution of fatigue crack growth experimental data obtained from SPV50 steel was studied and also the correlation of the parameter C and m in the Paris-Erdogan law was discussed. The probability distribution function of fatigue crack growth life seems to follow the 3-parameter Weibull. The fatigue crack growth rate seems to follow the 3-parameter Weibull and the log-normal distribution. The coefficient of variation (COV) of fatigue crack growth life was observed to decrease as the crack grows. Fatigue crack growth rate data shows a normal distribution for both m and logC. A strong negative linear correlation exists between the coefficient C and the exponent m.

  • A probabilistic approach for evaluating failure risk is suggested in this paper. Probabilistic fracture analyses were performed for a pressurized pipe of a Cr-Mo steel reflecting variation of material properties at high temperature. A crack was assumed to be located along the weld fusion line. Probability density functions of major variables were determined by statistical analyses of material creep and creep crack growth data measured by the previous experimental studies by authors. Distributions of these variables were implemented in Monte Carlo simulation of this study. As a fracture parameter for characterizing growth of a fusion line crack between two materials with different creep properties, $C_t$ normalized with $C^*$ was employed. And the elapsed time was also normalized with tT, Resultingly, failure probability as a function of operating time was evaluated fur various cases. Conventional deterministic life assessment result was turned out to be conservative compared with that of probabilistic result. Sensitivity analysis for each input variable was conducted to understand the most influencing variable to the analysis results. Internal pressure, creep crack growth coefficient and creep coefficient were more sensitive to failure probability than other variables.

Development of a bridge-specific fragility methodology to improve the seismic resilience of bridges

  • This article details a bridge-specific fragility method developed to enhance the seismic design and resilience of bridges. Current seismic design processes provide guidance for the design of a bridge that will not collapse during a design hazard event. However, they do not provide performance information of the bridge at different hazard levels or due to design changes. Therefore, there is a need for a supplement to this design process that will provide statistical information on the performance of a bridge, beyond traditional emphases on collapse prevention. This article proposes a bridge-specific parameterized fragility method to enable efficient estimation of various levels of damage probability for alternative bridge design parameters. A multi-parameter demand model is developed to incorporate bridge design details directly in the fragility estimation. Monte Carlo simulation and Logistic regression are used to determine the fragility of the bridge or bridge component. The resulting parameterized fragility model offers a basis for a bridge-specific design tool to explore the influence of design parameter variation on the expected performance of a bridge. When used as part of the design process, these tools can help to transform a prescriptive approach into a more performance-based approach, efficiently providing probabilistic performance information about a new bridge design. An example of the method and resulting fragility estimation is presented.

확률론적 해석방법을 이용한 쐐기파괴의 안정성 해석 (Probabilistic Approach of Stability Analysis for Rock Wedge Failure)

  • 확률론적 해석방법 (probabilistic analysis)은 현장으로부터 획득한 자료들에서 일반적으로 발생하는 가변성과 불확실성을 효과적으로 정량화하여 해석에 이용할 수 있는 방법 중의 하나로 제안되었다. 특히 암반사면공학에서는 이러한 가변성과 불확실성이 불연속면의 방향 및 기하학적 특성, 그리고 실내실험 결과의 분산으로 나타난다. 확률론적 해석방법은 불연속면의 기하학적 특성과 강도 특성을 확률변수 (random variable)로 취급하여 신뢰성이론 (reliability theory)과 확률이론 (probability theory)을 근거로 분석하였으며 이를 기초로 하여 Monte Carlo Simulation과 같은 해석법을 이용, 구조물의 붕괴가능성을 확률로 표현하였다. 확률론적 해석 방법은 기존의 안전율을 대체하여 구조물의 안정성을 붕괴확률 (probability of failure)로 제안하였으며 이 붕괴확률은 안전율의 확률분포함수 (probability density function)에서 안전율이 1보다 작을 가능성을 확률로 나타낸 수치이다. 이 방법은 안전율의 개념을 기초로 하여 자료의 분산을 고려하지 않은 채 단일 대표 값만을 이용하여 구조물의 안정성을 판단하는 전통적인 결정론적 해석방법 (deterministic analysis)과 비교되어진다. 본 논문에서는 확률론적 해석방법을 이용하여 불연속면 특성들의 확률특성을 고찰하였으며 이를 기초로 하여 암반사면의 안정성 해석에 응용했다. 또한 확률론적 해석과 결정론적인 해석의 결과를 비교, 그 차이점을 설명하고자 하였다.
