  • This article examines the religious implications of the concept of public (gong, 公) and private (sa, 私) affairs as presented in Daesoon Thought. To achieve this, the article first explores the three main meanings of gong and sa in the East Asian tradition: ①gong as ruling powers or institutions and sa as the personal sphere, ②gong as communal interests or opinions and sa as individual interests or opinions, and ③gong as fair ethical principles and sa as unfair, immoral intentions. The analysis reveals that Daesoon Thought strongly emphasizes the conceptualization of gong and sa in terms of ethical principles and immoral aspects. The practice of distinguishing between gong and sa is seen as an important way to open up the new order of life, called the Earthly Paradise of Later World, that Daesoon Jinrihoe aims to achieve. Daesoon Thought's theory on public versus private, which restrains the private (sa, 私) and prioritizes the public (gong, 公), provides a solid framework for self-transformation through moral practice, enabling participation in the Earthly Paradise of Later World envisioned by Jeungsan, the originator of Daesoon Jinrihoe's teachings.

  • Scientific and technical development, as well as the emergence of new types of contracts, which do not have their expression in current legislation, force us to explore the issues of contract law to adapt to change. In this context, the principle of freedom of contract is fundamental, which states that each person has the right to enter into a contractual relationship at his discretion. However, such freedom is not absolute, because the freedom of one person should not violate the freedom of another. Together with the conflict of private and public interests, these phenomena are a field for the study of topical issues of theory and application of the principle of freedom of contract in practice. Research methods are philosophical, general scientific, and special scientific methods, in particular, system-structural, formal-legal, hermeneutic; methods of analysis, synthesis, etc. As a result of the research, the main characteristics of the principle of freedom of contract, its role for private law regulation of contract law are given; approaches to understanding the restriction of contract freedom are analyzed; typical examples and means of such restrictions are identified; demonstrated how contract freedom is embodied in the use of IT tools, which types of contracts are most common in the digital environment.

  • This article describes the orthodontic treatment of a 31-year-old Korean female patient with gummy smile and crowding. The patient showed excessive gingival display in both the anterior and posterior areas and a large difference in gingival heights between the anterior and posterior teeth in the maxilla. To correct the gummy smile, we elected to intrude the entire maxillary dentition instead of focusing only on the maxillary anterior teeth. Alignment and leveling were performed, and a midpalatal absolute anchorage system as well as a modified lingual arch was designed to achieve posterosuperior movement of the entire upper dentition. The active treatment period was 18 months. The gummy smile and crowding were corrected, and the results were stable at 21 months post-treatment.

  • Objective : This prospective study sought to verify the stability of three types of short implants measuring 7mm or less. Materials and methods : Implants measuring 7mm or less were placed in patients at multicenter dental clinics in Korea, China, Taiwan, and Singapore. Initial stability, intraoperative and postoperative complications, crestal bone loss, and survival rate of the implant were prospectively evaluated. Results : The primary stability of a 6-mm implant was lower than that of a 7-mm implant. The marginal bone loss of short implants measuring less than 7mm was minimal. Complications such as wound dehiscence, implant mobility, and peri-implant mucositis developed, and these were associated with initial implant failure. The short-term survival rate of 6-mm implant was 93.7%, and that of 7-mm implant, 96.6%. Conclusion : Short implant for the mandible with insufficient height for the residual ridge can be selectively used. Poor primary stability and wound dehiscence can cause osseointegration failure and alveolar bone loss.
