How to Chase Changing Middle Managers′ Roles in the Informediary Era: Spiral Gap Analysis Model and Star Process

  • Rapid advances in information technology(IT) and telecommunication systems impact the number and quality of decision-making in organizations. Specifically, middle mangers must posses or develop the creativity necessary for survival in a constantly changing and volatile business environment. While tradition and conventional wisdom tell us that a middle managers role centers on control and monitoring, todays competitive arena has spun out a new managerial requirement developing and maintaining an innovative attitude. Problematically, most previous research has focused on the issue of changing decision authority (i. e. centralization/decentralization). Moreover, much previous research has also largely ignored environmental changes exposing new roles that middle managers have assumed. This study explores the means of identifying middle managerial roles, managerial possibilities involving the growing popularity of open systems through electronic brainstorming, and an adaptation and development of Diffusion Theory and attempt to counter criticism leveled at the theory's inability to provide an adequate explanation for diffusion of complex organizational technology. This paper develops three ideas: 1) Introducing the 'Chasing Curve' as a theoretical background. 2) Suggesting a new methodology using electronic brainstorming for analyzing the gap between Knowing (the perceived importance of middle managers' roles) and Doing (the degree of current status of middle managers' roles), which we term the 'Spiral Gap Analysis Model'. 3) Identifying a feedback system for minimizing the Knowing - Doing gap, aimed at development of IT strategic priority decision support, which we call this the 'Star Process'.

국내 외국인직접투자기업의 입지결정요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Location Factors of Foreign Direct Investment Firms in Korea)

  • 본 연구는 국내 외국인직접투자기업의 제조업에 적합한 입지결정요인을 추출하여 AHP 분석기법(Analytic Hierarchy Process)을 통해 집단별, 업종별, 기업규모별, 입지유형별로 입지요인의 중요도와 우선순위를 분석하고 시사점을 도출하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째로, 전문가집단이 외국인직접투자기업을 바라보는 관점과 외국인직접투자기업에서 실제로 고려하고 있는 각 입지요인의 중요도와 우선순위에는 상당한 괴리가 있는 것으로 확인되어 전문가집단의 정보 비대칭 문제가 심각한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째로, 외국인직접투자기업에서는 투자동기와 연관되어 있는 경쟁우위요인과 경영전략요인의 중요도를 높게 평가하고 있다. 또한 기업규모별, 업종별, 입지유형별로 입지요인의 중요도와 우선순위에도 많은 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째로, 투자만족도와 입지요인간에는 유의한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타나 입지요인들이 긍정적인 영향력을 많이 받을수록 투자의 만족도가 높아진다는 것을 시사하고 있다. 또한 투자기업에서는 노동의 유연성 부족과 우수인력의 확보문제를 가장 큰 경영상의 애로사항으로 인식하고 있었다. 넷째로, 입지의사결정에 필요한 정보의 원천에 관한 조사에서 행정당국보다는 이미 국내에 진출하여 사업을 영위하고 있거나 철수한 경험이 있는 선행의 투자기엽으로부터 입지정보를 수집하는 사례가 많은 것으로 나타났다. 아울러 가장 영향력이 높은 의사결정계층으로는 최고경영자로 확인되어 입지결정과 같은 전략적 정책결정들은 실무책임자보다는 최고경영층과의 관계 마케팅이 더욱 더 중요하다는 것을 확인하였다.

우선도를 고려한 지역 부하차단에 관한 전문가 시스템 (An Expert system On Local load shedding With priority)

  • In operation of power systems, operators must solve overloads in abnormal conditions instantaneously for restoring the power system to normal state. Earlier works proposed the power flow distribution and the load shedding decision, developed by the expert system, for settling overloads. This paper presents a method for solving special conditions in the earlier works which requires less amount of loads than that of the load shedding, in particular, of the load shedding considering the priority. This paper uses the effort system to improve the ability of a beginner as well as of trained operators for operating the power system during emergency operation. To prove efficiency of the proposed method, this paper has adopted the model system with 13 bus for obtaining simulation results and used the prolog language to implement the system.

휴리스틱 탐색기법에 근거한 철도입환진로의 자동결정전략 설계 (Strategies for the Automatic Decision of Railway Shunting Routes Based on the Heuristic Search Method)

  • This paper proposes an expert system which can determine automatically the shunting routes corresponding to the given shunting works by considering totally the train operating environments in the station. The expert system proposes the multiple shunting routes with priority of selection based on heuristic search strategy. Accordingly, system operator can select a shunting route with the safety and efficiency among the those shunting routes. The expert system consists of a main inference engine and a sub inference engine. The main inference engine determines the shunting routes with selection priority using the segment routes obtained from the sub inference engine. The heuristic rules are extracted from operating knowledges of the veteran route operator and station topology. It is implemented in C computer language for the purpose of the implementation of the inference engine using the dynamic memory allocation technique. And, the validity of the builted expert system is proved by a test case for the model station.

RFM 모형을 활용한 지역별 재해 위험도 분석 방법론 제안 (Proposal Methodology for Disaster Risk Analysis by Region Using RFM Model)

  • 연구목적: 본 연구는 재해위험지역을 개선하는 재해예방사업을 실시하는 과정에서 예방사업의 우선순위를 선정하기 위한 분석 방법론 제안을 목적으로 한다. 연구방법:최근성(Recency), 빈도성(Frequency), 화폐성(Monetary)을 기준으로 데이터의 등급을 나누고 타겟 마케팅을 수행할 수 있는 RFM 모형을 활용하여 데이터 분석을 수행하였다. 연구결과: RFM 값이 높은 상위 10% 지역이 동해와 남해 연안을 중심으로 나타났으며, 피해 유형을 살펴보면 사유시설의 피해 건수가 크게 나타났다. 결론: 본 연구에서는 RFM 모형을 활용하여 재해위험의 우선순위를 선정하고 GIS를 활용한 지역재해위험도를 구현하였다. 이러한 결과는 재해예방사업의 우선 사업대상지를 선정할 수 있는 기초자료와 재해예방사업의 의사결정 과정에서 기초자료로 활용되기를 기대한다.

Designing a Fuzzy Expert System with a Hybrid Approach to Select Operational Strategies in Project-Based Organizations with a Selected Competitive Priority

  • This research was conducted in order to solve the problem of selecting an operational strategy for projects in project-based organizations by designing a fuzzy expert system. In the current research, we first determined the contributing parameters in operational strategy of project-based organizations based on existing research literature and experts' opinion. Next, we divided them into two groups of model inputs and outputs and the rules governing them were determined by referring to research literature and educational instances. In order to integrate rules, the revised Ternary Grid (revised TG) and expert opinions were applied according to a hybrid algorithm. The Ultimate rules were provided in Fuzzy Inference System format (FIS). In this FIS, proper manufacturing decisions are recommended to the user based on selected competitive priority and also project properties. This paper is the first study in which rules and relations governing the parameters contributing operational strategy in project-based organizations are acquired in a guided integrated process and in the shape of an expert system. Using the decision support system presented in this research, managers of project-based organizations can easily become informed of proper manufacturing decisions in proportion with selected competitive priority and project properties; and also be ensured that theoretical background and past experiences are considered.

AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process)를 이용한 의류점포선택기준에 관한 연구 (A Study on Priority Evaluation in Clothes Stores' Selection Attributes)

  • This study aimed to construct an effective decision-making model on selection of cloth stores using AHP technique. The proposed AHP structure consists of three levels. The highest level includes the cloth stores alternative which are department store, specialty store, and a clothes store. The second level consists of the key performance measurements for evaluating the optimal selection of cloth stores, such as location, facilities, product, service, and promotion. The lowest level consists of items which affects the performance measurements in the upper level. The items are convenience location, courteous service, decor/ambience, availability of parking, etc. The data for this research were collected from questionnaires of 132 in Busan. Data were analyzed by frequency and AHP. As the result of this study, 'product' was decided as a most important item in department store, while 'location' was decided as a most important item in specialty store and a clothes store. And 'variety goods' evaluated as that of first priority in the totality evaluation items in department store, but 'convenience location' evaluated as that of first priority in the totality evaluation items specialty store and a clothes store.

Decision-Making on Incoterms 2020 of Automotive Parts Manufacturers in Thailand

  • The objective of this research is to examine the factors affecting the decision-making of International Commercial Terms (Incoterms) of automotive parts manufacturers in Thailand. This mixed method study applied qualitative and quantitative research methods and utilized the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) to prioritize the significance of the factors. By an in-depth literature review and expert interview, four main criteria were identified. These criteria include Operating costs, Cooperation and bargaining power, Knowledge and understanding and Operation duration then main criteria divided into fifteen sub-criteria. The common Incoterms, Ex Works (EXW), Free On Board (FOB), Free Carrier (FCA), and Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF), were determined as alternatives to the incoterms through a preliminary survey. The results revealed that the operating costs were the most important factor for the company. Moreover, it was discovered that this was consistent with the priority of the secondary factors, which included the annual budget for the transportation expenses and product value at one time. The respondents' perspective suggested that FCA was the most appropriate Incoterms for international trade for a company. The findings of this research suggest a hierarchy model for organizations to prioritize the significant factors in order to make a decision on the most appropriate Incoterms.

가중치 산정기법과 Utopian Approach를 결합한 Weighted Utopian Approach의 제안 (Suggestion of Weighted Utopian Approach for Combining Weighting Methods and Utopian Approach)

  • 의사결정 및 우선순위 결정에 있어 가장 중요한 점은 서로 다른 평가 기준에 따라 판단해야 할 속성의 상대적 중요성을 나타내는 가중치의 결정에 있다. 본 연구에서는 대표적인 기존의 가중치 결정 방법들을 동시에 고려하는 새로운 기법을 제안하였다. 이를 위하여 대표적인 7가지 가중치 산정방법과 다기준의사결정 기법의 하나인 거리척도 기반의 Utopian Approach를 결합한 Weighted Utopian Approach를 제안하였다. 제안된 기법은 다양한 특성을 가진 가중치 도출 기법을 고려하여 다기준 의사결정기법의 대표성과 보편성을 동시에 달성할 수 있는 장점을 가진다. 또한 최종 의사결정자들에게 최종 결과 뿐 만 아니라, 각 가중치 산정 방법별 결과를 제시하여 상황에 따른 대안 선택의 폭을 넓힐 수 있다. 본 모형을 가상의 공학문제에 적용한 결과, 보다 객관적인 의사결정 및 우선순위를 산정할 수 있었으며, 계산과정이 단순하여 실무 적용성이 우수하다고 판단되었다.

상수도관망의 이상징후 판정을 위한 위험요소 평가 - PROMETHEE와 ANP 기법 중심으로 (Evaluation of Risk Factors to Detect Anomaly in Water Supply Networks Based on the PROMETHEE and ANP)

  • 본 연구에서는 안전하고 원활한 용수공급을 목적으로 하는 상수도관망시스템의 오염예방 및 위험관리를 위한 통합의사결정시스템의 기본구조를 제시하고 유럽과 미국에서 널리 사용되고 있는 다기준 의사결정기법인 PROMETHEE와 ANP를 적용해 상수도관망의 이상징후 판정을 위한 위험요소들의 우선순위를 평가하였다. 문제 구성을 위하여 pH 잔류염소농도, 유량, 수압, 전기전도도, 탁도, 블록누수량, 수온을 자료항목으로 선정하였고 관부식, 관파열, 관내수질오염을 평가기준으로 하여 PROMETHEE와 ANP의 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 상수도관망의 위험요소 평가결과는 위기상황 대처방안시스템 구축시 사고대응 제어알고리즘 설계의 기초자료가 될 수 있을 것이다.
