The purpose of this study was exploring instructive methods to make each gifted child's ability develop as more by selecting the dynamic method instead of existing static method in teaching and evaluating science-gifted students in elementary school and by analyzing conceptual change of electric circuit. In this research, 11 science-gifted students in primary school were chosen, and Dynamic Science Assessment(DSA) intended to comprehension of scientific electric circuit concept was performed as focusing on scaffolding aspects in order to find the transition process. And then, the features on transition process of students' concept were analyzed in quality. The results of the study were checked that the features of useful scaffolding input with respect to comprehending concepts of science gifted-students by using DSA. The less familiar to approach the subjects, the more presented numbers of scaffolding showed. As coming toward transition and same questions, scaffoldings (interactions) were declined because their level of transition was higher than before. Various ways were used in helping the students comprehend the concept on the method of connecting electric circuit and the emitting amount of current, which acted to adapt to daily life.
The purpose of this study is to develop the number-operation games and to analyze the effects of the games on mathematical creativity of gifted elementary students. We set up the basic direction and standard of mathematical gifted creativity program and developed the 10 periods games based on the mathematically gifted creative problem solving(MG-CPS) model. And, to find out the change of students' creativity, the test based on the developed program and one group pretest-posttest design was conducted on 20 gifted students. Analysis of data using Leikin's evaluation model of mathematical creativity with Leikin's scoring and categorization frame revealed that gifted students's creativity is improved via the number-operation games.
In this paper, we developed teaching learning models using a numeral operation for the mathematical gifted focused on the design of a circle using GSP and investigated effects of this models. This model gave gifted-students to be able to produce creative outputs with mathematical principles and practicality and beauty of mathematics. We found following facts. Firstly, a developed teaching-learning model improves a mathematical gifted student's mathematical creativity as analytic thinking and deductive inference. Secondly, a circular design using GSP helps gifted students to understand the abstract rules because mathematical patterns was represented visually by a circular design. Lastly, a circular design using a numeral operation is helpful to gifted students revealing to creativity and beauty of mathematics.
This study aims to develop a scientific creativity task which science-gifted elementary students can conduct on a field trip to a botanical garden, and to analyze the results from conducting the task. For this, 38 science-gifted fifth-graders from the Science-Gifted Education Center, located at the Office of Education, participated in a field trip to a botanical garden, as a part of their program. Prior to the program, researchers developed a scientific creativity task for outdoor education program, along with science education specialists and teachers. The tasks were to observe plants, and to create something new and useful, or, in other words, scientifically creative, based on the plants' characteristics. The students could submit at most three ideas. Also, they assessed their own ideas, and selected an idea that they thought was the most creative. The results were analyzed by using the scientific creativity formula. The main findings from this study are as follows. First, it was found that the scientific creativity formula had an upward bias in assessing originality. Second, the students tended to assess the usefulness of their own ideas more generously. Third, the correlation between self-assessment results and scores from the scientific creativity formula for originality was r=.43. Fourth, in formula-based assessments, the correlation between originality scores and usefulness scores was relatively high, at r=.56. Fifth, the correlation between a student's scientific creativity score and the number of his or her ideas was very low, at r=.23. Sixth, when the ideas chosen as the most creative by students were compared with the ideas that had the highest scores in formula-based assessments, it was shown that 8 out of 19 students (42.1%) did not choose the idea that appeared to be the most creative when graded by the formula. This study is concluded by discussing the lessons from the scientific creativity task analysis for primary science education and gifted education.
This study examined the attention and attention shift of general students and mathematically gifted students about pattern by the types of mathematical patterns. For this purpose, we analyzed eye movements during the problem solving process of 5th general and mathematically gifted students using eye tracker. The results were as follows: first, there was no significant difference in attentional style between the two groups. Second, there was no significant difference in attention according to the generation method between the two groups. The diversion was more frequent in the incremental strain generation method in both groups. Third, general students focused more on the comparison between non-contiguous terms in both attributes. Unlike general students, mathematically gifted students showed more diversion from geometric attributes. In order to effectively guide the various types of mathematical patterns, we must consider the distinction between attention and attention shift between the two groups.
The purpose of this study is to measure the differences in affective characteristics and mathematical reasoning ability between gifted students and non-gifted students. This study compares and analyzes on the relations between the affective characteristics and mathematical reasoning ability. The study subjects are comprised of 97 gifted fifth grade students and 144 non-gifted fifth grade students. The criterion is based on the questionnaire of the affective characteristics and mathematical reasoning ability. To analyze the data, t-test and multiple regression analysis were adopted. The conclusions of the study are synthetically summarized as follows. First, the mathematically gifted students show a positive response to subelement of the affective characteristics, self-conception, attitude, interest, study habits. As a result of analysis of correlation between the affective characteristic and mathematical reasoning ability, the study found a positive correlation between self-conception, attitude, interest, study habits but a negative correlation with mathematical anxieties. Therefore the more an affective characteristics are positive, the higher the mathematical reasoning ability are built. These results show the mathematically gifted students should be educated to be positive and self-confident. Second, the mathematically gifted students was influenced with mathematical anxieties to mathematical reasoning ability. Therefore we seek for solution to reduce mathematical anxieties to improve to the mathematical reasoning ability. Third, the non-gifted students that are influenced of interest of the affective characteristics will improve mathematical reasoning ability, if we make the methods to be interested math curriculum.
In this study, lessons on coordinate, percentage, and factorization in prime factors were taken with TI-73 calculator for 20 elementary school students in the 5th grade math gifted class in Pohang city. Through these lessons, the researcher examined with cases how using the calculator would influenced the lessons for the gifted students, and attempted to obtain implications on using calculators as learning tools in class. Activity sheets were made for this study and a 80-minute lesson was held three times for three weeks. In order to collect data, the class was recorded on videotape, the students were interviewed, and documents used in the class were collected. Then all the data were transcribed. Data analysis was completed through several readings of transcripts and main themes were derived by classifying, comparing, and contrasting coding. As a result of the study, the calculator played a role the tool as the mediation to communicate and the challenge their solvable tasks beyond the limitation of paper and pencil environments. But, in using the calculator, there was differences in gender between boys and girls. Above all, to enter commands into the calculator resulted in obstacles for learning process.

Utilizing programming languages for data visualization can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness in handling data volume, processing time, and flexibility. However, practice is required to become proficient in programming. Therefore public data-based the problem bank was developed to practice data visualization in a programming automatic assessment system. Public data were collected based on topics suggested in the curriculum and were preprocessed to make it suitable for users to visualize. The problem bank was associated with the mathematics curriculum to learn various data visualization methods. The developed problems were reviewed to expert and pilot testing, which validated the level of the questions and the potential of integrating data visualization in math education. However, feedback indicated a lack of student interest in the topics, leading us to develop additional questions using student-center data. The developed problem bank is expected to be used when students who have learned Python in primary school information gifted or middle school or higher learn data visualization.

This study analyzed current programs practiced by science-gifted education centers. This study was based on concerns of 18 science teachers on six science-gifted education centers of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education that had local representatives. For this study, we collected data using journals, documents, reports, survey reviews and interviews with science teachers. Science teachers were concerned about the selection and identification of gifted students, education periods, curriculum, and student evaluation. More authentic measurement for students' potential ability were needed for the identification and selection process. If the purpose of science-gifted centers was to be met, the number of students selected should be determined by local differences rather than regional equality. The curriculum and educational period could make good use of time allotted for vacation to increase lesson periods. Lessons based on strategies like contests for improving the students' creativity, free inquiry and communication skills had to be encouraged. A consistent system for science-gifted education from primary school to high school was needed.
