불확실한 제품 수명주기를 고려한 최적가격결정 모형에 관한 연구 (Optimal Pricing Policy under Uncertain Product Lifetimes)

  • Many studies in marketing and economics have attempted to model price and sales path under the dynamic diffusion process. Most of these models have been based on a fixed product lifetime. The current business climate requiring intensive development of new products however affects the diffusion of new products and their lifetime. Many products have not enjoyed the expected life cycle at the launching stage due to intense technical development competitive reactions, and financial problems. Most diffusion models however have not taken account of the lifetime uncertainty of new product. If the products do not last over the planning horizon set by those models. the optimal price derived from them could be futile. Therefore we had better take such lifetime uncertainty into consideration when developing diffusion models, In this paper we study the impact of uncertain product lifetime on its optimal pricing path in non-competitive market. We develop an optimal pricing model under uncertain product lifetimes and conduct a simulation study to investigate their effects on the optimal pricing and corresponding sales paths. The simulation study provides some interesting findings on optimal pricing policy under uncertain product lifetime. This study could be a stepping stone for the further extended study of optimal pricing strategy with uncertain product lifetime.

The Impact of Tax Treaties on Foreign Direct Investment: The Evidence Reconsidered

  • This paper reconsiders the empirical evidence of the relationship between tax treaties and FDI using U.S. outbound FDI to 78 countries over the period of 2007-2018. Unlike previous studies, we explicitly consider differences in the tax environments of recipient economies, including their tax-haven status, transfer pricing rules, CFC rules and anti-avoidance regulations, in our estimations. Our results confirm the importance of controlling for country-specific tax environments, especially the tax-haven status and transfer pricing rules. We find that tax treaties positively contribute to FDI inflows in developing countries, while they have no statistically significant impacts on OECD countries. Recently signed tax treaties still foster FDI but less than older ones do. Finally, our results indicate, all other things being equal, that the weaker the transfer pricing regulations, the greater the amount of U.S. direct investment into a non-OECD economy.

  • 이 논문은 미시(微視)기반레벨에서 (at Micro-Foundations level) PBR(등급에 의한 가격책정)도구를 개발하여 PBR이 어느 상황에서든 가격책정(Pricing)의 기준과 비즈니스모델평가에 대한 일반적인 기준으로 사용될 수 있음을 주장하고 있다. 본 논문은 우선 구매력과 지불/구매의향 (Willingness to Pay/Purchase: WTP)을 동시에 지니고 있는 현시니즈(Explicit Needs)로부터 WTP모델을 유도하여 WTP수준과 WTS(willingness to supply/sell: 공급/판매의향) 수준간의 간격에 대한 서열척도(ordinal scale)를 취하여 PBR방법을 개발하였다. 구체적으로 고객이 기대하는 이상적 마케팅믹스인 최선의 SPEC (Solution, Price Indicator by WTP, Encouragement, Channel)과 기업이 제공하는 실제 마케팅믹스 (Marketing Mix) 4P에 대하여 우선 각 구성요소 마다마다를 상호 개별적으로 비교할 뿐만 아니라 전체를 하나로 인식하여 상호 비교함으로써 PBR방법을 개발한 후 이를 적용한 몇 가지 예시를 통해서 PBR방법이 실제로 비즈니스모델을 평가하는데 사용될 수 있음을 보여 준다. 결론적으로 본 논문은 어떤 상황에서든 PBR이 가격책정과 비즈니스모델의 평가도구로서 유용하게 사용될 수 있다고 주장한다.

The objective function of the model consists of sub-functions of revenue and cost (holding cost and penalty cost). To test the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithm, numerical experiments are performed The computational results show that the proposed algorithm is efficient and derives quite good decisions

  • Information and information services are recently recognized as a commodity and libraries and information centers are also considered as a company. Under this circumstance, libraries and information centers encounter the problems how they can effectively achieve the objectives of service institutions and objectives of resource management as companies. Pricing policy for information services must be something to satisfy these two very different objectives. This paper discusses the following issues to develop pricing model for information services, 1) the needs of pricing for information services, 2) the major elements impacting to pricing of information services including the objectives of pricing, cost and demand of information services, and information value, 3) the pros and cons of pricing method using concepts of average cost, price differentiation, and marginal cost, respectively.

The Influence of Brand Equity on Customer Purchase Decision: A Case Study of Retailers Distribution

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of brand equity on customer purchase decision (CPD) of products for retailers distribution (RB) in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. There are five elements in the brand equity model such as brand awareness, brand association, brand loyalty, perceived quality, and pricing policy. Research design, data and methodology: Qualitative methodology was used for exploring the research model and variables. The survey was conducted to collect data from 251 respondents who bought products at RB in Ho Chi Minh city, which is based on a Likert scale. The collected data were analyzed with the reliability of the scale, exploratory factor analysis, and research hypothesis testing by SPSS 22. Results: The results obtained revealed that brand awareness, brand association, perceived quality, and pricing policy have a significant impact on CPD for RB. Furthermore, the results showed that perceived quality is the most significant component in influencing CPD at retailers. Conclusions: From the research results, some management implications that RB should focus on are perceived quality, choice of pricing policies and strategies, brand building and development to attract more customers as well as enhance its image to improve customers' purchasing decisions of products at retail distributors chain.

Congested Market Equilibrium Analysis

  • Congestion occurs whenever users interfere with each other, while competing for scarce resources. In a congested market, such as a telecommunication service market, users of telecommunication services incur costs in using the service in addition to the price. The user's own time costs involved in learning to use the service, waiting for the service, and making use of the service are typically greater than the price of telecommunication services. A market equilibrium analysis is performed in which a method for user demand aggregation is developed. The effects of price changes on user demands and market demands for congested services are examined. It is found that total market demands may increase as the price for less-congested services increase under certain demand conditions. This suggests that a nonuniform pricing scheme for a congested service may improve the utilization of the congested system. The sign of price cross-elasticity for congested services is show to vary with demand conditions. A possible complementary property of congested services is found and the implication of such a property is discussed. It is argued that such a complementary property may lead to a cross subsidy in a market with congestion. Finally, comparisons between uniform pricing and nonuniform pricing policies are made. A specific numerical example is given to show that a nonuniform pricing policy may be Pareto superior to a uniform pricing policy.

  • Pricing information services, where congestion can threaten the efficient operation of information systems, has been studied in economics and information systems literature, Recent explosion of the Internet ana proliferation of multimedia content over the Internet have rekindled the research interest in designing pricing schedules for differentiated information services, In order for the information system to effectively serve users having heterogeneous needs, pricing rules for discriminated services should be considered. At the same time, when individual users' interest does not align with that of the organization that individual users belong to, organization-wide pricing policy should be devised to improve the value of the services rendered by the system. This paper, using a priority queuing model, addresses the need for such on incentive-compatible pricing for different information services.

  • UCC(UCC: User Created Contents)가 온라인상으로 활발히 거래되고 있다. 현재 UCC의 가격은 판매자가 한번 결정을 하면 이후로는 변함이 없는 고정 정책으로 결정된다. 하지만 시장의 수요와 공급은 매시 변화하고, 이러한 변화에 따라 동적으로 가격을 결정하는 연구들이 진행되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 UCC를 검색하는 사용자들을 분석하여 UCC의 동적인 가격 결정 모형을 제안하였다. 트렌드 변화 반영 결정 모형과 상대적 가격 모형을 고안하였고, 시스템 변수와 시장 변수를 통제하여 다양한 환경에서의 실험을 수행하였다. 또한 컴퓨터 모델링 및 시뮬레이션을 통해 성능을 입증하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 UCC 시장에서의 매출 및 수익 향상에 중요한 지침을 제공할 것이다.
