Analysis of connectedness Between Energy Price, Tanker Freight Index, and Uncertainty (에너지 가격, 탱커운임지수, 불확실성 사이의 연계성 분석)

  • Uncertainties in the energy market are increasing due to technology developments (shale revolution), trade wars, COVID-19, and the Russia-Ukraine war. Especially, since 2020, the risk of international trade in the energy market has increased significantly due to changes in the supply chain of transportation and due to prolonged demand reduction because of COVID-19 and the Russian-Ukraine war. Considering these points, this study analyzed connectedness between energy price, tanker index, and uncertainty to understand the connectedness between international trade in the energy market. Main results are summarized as follows. First, as a result of analyzing stable period and unstable period of the energy price model using the MS-VAR model, it was confirmed that both the crude oil market model and the natural gas market model had a higher probability of maintaining stable period than unstable period, increasing volatility by specific events. Second, looking at the results of the analysis of the connectedness between stable period and unstable period of the energy market, it was confirmed that in the case of total connectedness, connectedness between variables was increased in the unstable period compared to the stable period. In the case of the energy market stable period, considering the degree of connectedness, it was confirmed that the effect of the tanker freight index, which represents the demand-side factor, was significant. Third, unstable period of the natural gas market model increases rapidly compared to the crude oil market model, indicating that the volatility spillover effect of the natural gas market is greater when uncertainties affecting energy prices increase compared to the crude oil market.

  • For stationary 1kW-class fuel cell systems to be used widely, it is essential to achieve dramatic improvements in system durability as well as cost reduction. In order to address this engineering challenge, it is important to develop innovative technologies associated with BOP components. According to this background, in 2009, the Korean Government and "Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning(KETEP)" launched into the strategic development project of BOP technology for practical applications and commercializations of stationary fuel cell systems, named "Technology Development on Cost Reduction of BOP Components for 1kW Stationary Fuel Cell Systems to Promote Green-Home Dissemination Project". The objectives of this project are to develop fundamental technologies to meet these requirements, and to improve the performance and functionality of BOP components with reasonable price. The project consortium consists of Korea's leading fuel cell system manufacturers, BOP component manufacturers which technologically specialized, and several research institutions. This paper is to provide a summary of the project, as well as the achievements made through the 1st period of the project(2009~2010). Several prototypes of BOPs - Cathode air blowers, burner air blowers, preferential oxidation air blowers, fuel blowers, cooling water pumps, reformer water pumps, heat recovery pumps, mass flow meters, valves and power conditioning systems - had been developed through this project in 2010. As results of this project, it is expected that a technological breakthrough of these BOP components will result in a substantial system cost reduction.

  • Recently, a demand for reduction of construction cost by reducing construction period is increasing because of the slump of the construction business, the increasing price of raw-materials and the enforcement of after-sale system. As a method of reducing construction period, many construction companies usually apply a method of reducing curing period. But if they use an existing early strength cement or admixture, they spend a heavy cost on materials and there are many problems, such as a heat of hydration and a loss of workability. The purpose of this research is a reduction of construction cost by reducing construction period as a earlier removal time of form. To check up application of concrete using high early strength binder and admixture, comparative tests were carried out with concrete using an existing early strength cement or admixture such as tests of diurnal variation, setting time and compressive strength.

  • It is difficult to make which customers want in restaurant industry because of IMF situation. Therefore, utilization of service marketing is needed by best effect through least investment in restaurant industry. The background of restaurant industry is not directly related to the improvement of tourism industry. We should give a hand to tourism and restaurant industry by holding international events. so the way of thinking among people is changing. And importing of famous foreign brand and opening shops are accellerating the improvement of tourism and restaurant industry. In this perspective, improvement factors of restaurant industry are as follows : the increase of pst time, the increase of disposable income, the increase of woman's having jobs and double income, requirement of people about health food, the increase of nuclear family, and the change of viewpoint among people. This restaurant industry is service industry, and it sells invisible service except the aspect of selling menu. In addition, in terms of menu, price reduction strategy should be done by cost reduction and restructuring. The ultimate purpose of marketing is to increase sales and to do this we should increase the number of customers in shops. That means we should create new customers and try to attract customers who used to be regular in the shops. Therefore, the demonstration of management ability and positive reaction is really needed. So the most important things in marketing are as follows: proper strategy for double consumption, increasing the number of customers through new specific menu, menu life cycle according to menu item, menu development by considering customer, making recipe, enhancement of product quality and cost reduction by customer's opinion. We should concentrate on national menu first, and try to develop menu for international market. It is absolutely needed that we set up the menu product strategy through menu marketing with various products and constant study related to menu marketing is to be done.

  • In order that a company may reduce expense, according to companies' income statement, the largest amount of money is set to total sales amount, and the next is the sales cost. The method of reducing the sales cost is the common and it is important to take down a unit price at the time of purchase, or to reduce inventory cost. In this research, the cost reduction model for logistics cost reduction is built using the real data of P company, and in order to verify the validity of a model, logistics cost is calculated through a simulation. A real logistics cost is compared with the logistics cost through logistics route rearrange of the proposal model. It will become an opportunity which analyzes the logistics expense of P company through this research, and can be solved in search of the problem of logistics system.

An Analysis on the Tariff Reduction by NAMA Negotiation (세계무역기구 NAMA 협상에 따른 관세감축 영향 분석)

  • This study was analyzed the change of the tariff reduction for the Korea's fishery according to the Non Agricultural Market Access(NAMA) negotiations of the WTO. Four scenarios of tariff liberalization of NAMA are conducted on the basis of a Swiss formula. Using import demand function, we estimated price elasticities of imported fishery. The results of the analysis with mark up 20% show that, in the position of developed member, the value of import increase was between 405 billion won and 439 billion won, and analyzed between 232 billion won and 254 billion won with less than cut 50%. On the other hand, in the position of developing country, the value of import increase was between 311 billion won and 356 billion won, and analyzed between 174 billion won and 201 billion won with less than cut 50%. Also, the results was showed that the highest effects for increasing value of import are a fresh Pollack.

  • We need the contingency cost in order to deal with the uncertainty to be accompanied inevitably at the construction and an every kind risk not to forecast in advance. And also the contingency colt needed for the change order and we need it for reduction of the delay and reduce the trouble between owner and constructor. This study, through checking and analyzing the risk factor, in the step of domestic construction, suggests optimal management reserve to specific business about the contract type and the scale. The main results of this research are summarized as follow. First, I investigated the recognition about the contingency cost, grasped the risk to be happened at the construction step and found out the frequency occurrence, through making up question to engineer are carrying out their job in the domestic construction. Second, I computed optimal contingency cost rate by the statistics investigation, and proposed an improvement plan and problem when compute a contingency cost.

  • Many types of door system are used in the Electric Multiple Unit (EMU). The door system is categorized to the two types of door system, sliding door and plug door. The sliding door is widely used in the EMU but has weak point for the noise problem. The plug door has advantages for the noise reduction characteristic. Nowaday electric door system is widely used and motor is a main part of driving system in the door system. We have to know the exact driving position of door system to control proper operation of the door. Actually encoder or tachometer is used for the position controlling, but it makes price increase and failure increase. In this paper, we study and describe motor current calculation method to contol and know exact driving position of door system.

Economic Evaluation of ESS in Urban Railway Substation for Peak Load Shaving Based on Net Present Value

  • In this paper, we estimate the economic benefits of Energy Storage Systems (ESSs) for peak load shaving in an urban railway substation using the annual cost. The annual investment cost of ESSs is estimated using Net Present Value (NPV) and compared with the cost reduction of electricity by the ESS. The optimal capacities of the battery and Power Converting System (PCS) are determined for peak load shaving. The optimal capacity of the ESS and the peak load shaving is determined to maximize the profit by the ESS. The proposed method was applied to real load data in an urban railway substation, and the results show that electric power costs can be reduced. Other aspects of the ESS, such as the lifetime and unit price of the battery, are also investigated economically.

  • This paper proposes a simple MPPT control scheme of a Current-Control-Loop Error system Based that can be obtains a lot of advantage to compare with another digital control method, P&O and IncCond algorithm, that is applied mostly a PV system. An existent method is needed an expensive processor such as DSP that calculated to change the measure power of a using current and voltage sensor at the once. Therefore, it is applied a small home power generation system that required many expenses. But, a proposed method is easy to solve the cost reduction and power unbalance problems that it is used by control scheme to limit error of a current control of common sensor. This proposed algorithm had verified through a simulation and an experiment on battery charger using PIC that is the microprocessor of a low price.
