  • In this paper we introduce a method of presenting 3-manifolds by polyhedral schemata with 2 vertices so that they may be naturally associated with given crystallizations of 3-manifolds. As applications, we explicitly present crystallizations of n-fold cyclic branched coverings of S over 2-bridge knots.

  • The authors aim at presenting a presumably new transformation formula involving generalized hypergeometric series by making use of series rearrangement technique which is one of the most effective methods for obtaining generating functions or other identities associated with (especially) the hypergeometric series. They also consider a couple of interesting special cases of their main result.

  • We aim at presenting an interesting result for a reducibility of Exton's triple hypergeometric series $X_2$. The identity to be given here is obtained by combining Exton's Laplace integral representation for $X_2$ and Henrici's formula for the product of three hypergeometric series.

  • A hybrid method solving regularized structured linear total least norm (RSTLN) problems, which have highly ill-conditioned coefficient matrix with special structures, is suggested and analyzed. This scheme combining RSTLN algorithm and separation by parts guarantees the convergence of parameters and has an advantages in reducing the residual norm and relative error of solutions. Computational tests for problems arisen in signal processing and image formation process confirm that the presenting method is effective for more accurate solutions to (R)STLN problem than the (R)STLN algorithm.

  • Pantograph of high speed rolling stock is one of the key components that transfer of associated technologies was blocked fundamentally from advanced nations. In this study, main technologies related to development of prototype pantograph installed on prototype test train developed according to the project "Development of high speed railway technology" are presented. Status of current korean technologies is explained by presenting developed technologies and applications during the past 6 years from concept design to test and evaluation.

  • A 39 year-old woman presenting with a hemoptysis, pulmonary infiltrate was found to have thoracic actinomycosis by the specimens of excised lung. Recently, pulmonary actinomycosis is very rare by the widespread use of antibiotics. Clinical, radiological, and microbiological findings can be nonspecific. The diagnosis is dependent on a high index of suspicion. Chances for cure are excellent with lengthy antibiotic administration. The purpose of this paper is to review our experience and to remind us of pulmonary actinomycosis.

  • Posterior mediastinal goiter extending to carotid sheath posteriorly is rare. Recently we experienced two cases of posterior mediastinal goiter presenting dyspnea due to tracheal compression. The one was a 48-year-old female with mediastinal tumor shadow on chest roentgenogram . The other was a 54-year-old female with palpable mass on neck and huge mediastinal mass. These masses were resected completely through the right posterolateral thoracotomy and median sternotomy respectively. The postoperative courses were uneventful.

  • This review focuses on the developed and the being developed environmental sensors in particular biological sensors. As well as discussing the classification and some main principles, presenting current trend of the environmental sensors is given. Two main categories are immunosensors and catalytic sensors. In addition to those. DNA or RNA sensors or protein based sensors are discussed. Some crucial examples of the applications of such sensors are given to show how the sensor technology it used for environmental and biological monitoring, biomarkers of exposure.

  • Fault tree analysis(FTA) is available to the engineer for determining reliability of complex industrial safety system. Therefore quantitative aspects of FTA greatly multiply its power this paper proceeds of presenting the methodology of FTA, including an approach to constructing in fault tree. A working guide to the use of FTA for the purpose of cost/benefit determination in industrial safety system is given. Finally, an analytic method for uncertainty analysis of the top event of a complex system is described.
