Development of an Anti-Freezing Heating Cable Temperature Controller and Its Power Saving Effects Analysis (동파방지 발열선용 온도제어기 개발 및 전기에너지 절감 효과 분석)

  • Although anti-freezing heating cable has been widely installed in most residential boiler pipe, there were excessive energy consumption and fire risk due to inadequate temperature control. In this paper, a new energy saving fire risk-free controller was developed by using microprocessing operation which include detection of not only boiler room temperature but also pipe surface one. Its actual effect has been verified to save more than a half of the energy consumption comparing to conventional controller through temperature and humidity chamber experiment.

  • Smart street light controller is a product with advance micro controller base for energy saving in conventional street lighting systems. Intelligent Street light controller are specially developed for automation and energy saving in conventional street light systems and lighting systems. It is so designed that it operates on sunrise & sun set timings according to longitude of particular location with facilitate to set month wise civil twilight timings to cope up with all seasons. Dimming (Power down) mode selection switch on/off at fixed times with relay or contactor. Night dimming, staggering and intelligent control reduces burn hours and increases the lifetime of lamps with about 30% and low annual operating cost type base are among the most inexpensive wireless technologies available. Low initial costs As PLC wireless, there is no need to establish cable connection.

  • In this paper, we are concerned with a maneuver detection algorithm which uses the 'lost' measurements down-sampled for computation load saving when a target is in quiescent motion. In general applications of estimation, measurements are available at a relatively high rate, while the estimation processing equipment can only operate at a lower sampling rate. Furthermore, when a target is in nearly quiescent motion, the update of the tracking filter need not to be implemented with maxim urn process power of the filter since the states of the target vary relatively slowly.   • Recently, the study of energy saving technology of ships begins in earnest, as energy saving policies are performed all around the world. SEMS (Ship Energy Management System) is one of the techniques to increase energy efficiency by applying to a independent system like a ship and offshore. SEMS is composed of Cooling Pump Control System (CPCS), Renewable Energy Emergency Power Control System (REEPCS), Load Control System (LCS), and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning System (HVACS). SEMS is enable to increase energy efficiency and achieve integrated management through the interlocking of each system. Especially, it is possible to improve the flexibility of the selection of the generator capacity in conjunction with a rechargeable battery and renewable energy. In this paper, SEMS applied rechargeable battery is proposed and simulated. By applying the rechargeable battery, it was confirmed that SEMS applied rechargeable battery can be operated at optimum efficiency of the generator.

  • Nowadays, the demand of energy saving is increasing more and more while the natural resources have been exhausted. Besides, the emission gas caused by vehicles has been being a serious environment problem. Therefore, many studies have been carried out, especially focusing on braking energy regeneration, in order to save energy as well as reduce emission of mobile vehicles. In this paper, we propose a closed-loop hydrostatic transmission for braking energy regeneration with two configurations to reduce the energy consumption by recovering the braking energy. The effectiveness of the proposed system was verified by simulation. The simulation results indicated that the pressure coupling configuration gave better performance in comparison to flow coupling configuration about 40.8%, 61.7% and 53.8% reduction of fuel consumption in 10 mode, 10 mode modified profile and highway schedules, respectively.

  • On the side of that necessity, it is known that the development of Amorphous metal take effects on lowering eddy current loss in a core system. If a amorphous transformer and a motor to which "Amorphous Metal" is applied be widespread, electricity saving should be enormous with the several hundreds billion won of economic effects like cutting the cost of power plants and the unhealthy gases.   • Ad hoc network는 무선 네트워크 환경에서 에서 AP(Access Point)와 같은 infrastructure없이 STA(Station)들끼리 통신이 가능한 형태의 network이다. Ad hoc network에서는 전력 관리가 중요한 문제들 가운데 하나인데 표준에서는 동기식 전력 관리에 관하여서만 정의하고 있다. 동기식 전력 관리의 경우에는 STA들 사이에 동기가 맞아야 잘 동작한다는 점과 이러한 동기화를 위한 기술적 어려움 그리고 STA들 사이에 독립적인 전력관리가 불가능하다는 점을 단점으로 가지게 된다. 이러한 점을 해결하기 위하여 일반적인 비동기식 전력 관리 방법을 적용시키게 되면 energy saving 측면에서는 효율적이지만 throughput이 현저하게 감소하게 되는 문제가 발생하게 되는데 본 논문에서는 이러한 정을 해결하기 위하여 새로운 비동기식 전력 관리 프로토콜을 제안한다.

  • This paper presents a new method to reducing inrush current and energy saving of capacitor starting single-phase induction motor used in air-conditioner. It can be obtained that proposed system is low cost and small size as compared with other controller. Experiments are focused on a capacitor starting single-phase induction motor. The optimal power saving and in-rush current limiting by phase angle control are verified by experimental results. Also, auxiliary winding was controlled by electronic starting switch.

Can energy optimization lead to economic and environmental waste in LPWAN architectures?

  • As low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) end devices (EDs) are deployed in massive scale, their economic and environmental costs of operation are becoming too significant to ignore and too difficult to estimate. While LPWAN architectures and protocols are designed to primarily save energy, this study shows that energy saving does not necessarily lead to lower cost or environmental footprint of the network. Accordingly, a theoretical framework is proposed to estimate the operational expenditure (OpEx) and environmental footprint of LPWAN EDs. An extended constrained optimization model is provided for the ED link assignment to gateways (GWs) based on heterogeneous ED configurations and hardware specifications. Based on the models, a simulation framework is developed which demonstrates that OpEx, energy consumption, and environmental footprint can be in conflict with each other as constrained optimization objectives. We demonstrate different ways to achieve compromises in each dimension for overall improved network performance.

  • Reflect the social concerns of recent energy saving in this paper. The LED market is continuing to grow continuously. But it is now high light energy conversion led lights., We propose converting the light energy-saving method for these LED lights. Generated the cumulative loss of the conversion done at each light change from the current power of the LED lights. The cumulative loss to achieve minimal energy loss resulting from the improved performance.
