Torque Ripple Reduction of a PM Synchronous Motor for Electric Power Steering using a Low Resolution Position Sensor

  • MDPS (motor driven power steering) systems have been widely used in vehicles due to their improved fuel efficiency and steering performance when compared to conventional hydraulic steering. However, the reduction of torque ripples and material cost are important issues. A low resolution position sensor for MDPS is one of the candidates for reducing the material costs. However, it may increases the torque ripple due to the current harmonics caused by low resolution encoder signals. In this paper, the torque ripple caused by the quantized rotor position of the low resolution encoder is analyzed. To reduce the torque ripples caused by the quantization of the encoder signals, the rotor position and the speed are estimated by measuring the frequency of the encoder signals. In addition, the compensating q-axis current is added to the current command so that the 6th order torque harmonic is attenuated. The reduction of torque ripples by applying the estimated rotor position and the compensated q-axis current is verified through experimental results.

Release of Ammonia Odor from AAFA (Ammonia Adsorbed Fly Ash) by Installation of NOx Reduction System

  • This paper discussed the effect of ammonia concentration adsorbed on fly ash for the ammonia emission as AAFA (Ammonia Adsorbed Fly Ash) produced from coal fired plants due to operation of NOx reduction technologies was landfilled with distilled or sea water at closed and open systems, respectively. Ammonia bisulfate and sulfates adsorbed on fly ash is highly water soluble. The pH of ammonium bisulfate and sulfate solution had significant effect on ammonia odor emission. The effect of temperature on ammonia odor emission from mixture was less than pH, the rate of ammonia emission increased with increased temperature when the pH conditions were kept at constant. Since AAFA increases the pH of solution substantially, $NH_3$ in the ash can release the ammonia order unless it is present at low concentration. $NH_4{^+}$ ion is unstable in fly ash and water mixtures of high pH at open system, which is changed to nitrite or nitrate and then released as ammonia gas. The proper conditions for < 20 ppm of ammonia concentration released from the AAFAs landfilled in ash pond were explored using an open system with sea water. It was therefore proposed that optimal operation to collect AAFA of less than 168 ppm ammonia at the electrostatic precipitator were controlled to ammonia slip with less than 5 ppm at SCR/SNCR installations, and, ammonia odor released from mixture of fly ash of 168 ppm ammonia with sea water under open system has about 20 ppm.

가중합 유전자 알고리즘 기반의 다목적 최적화를 이용한 톤 삽입 PAPR 저감 기법 (A Tone Injection PAPR Reduction Method using Multi-objective Optimization based on Weighted-sum Genetic Algorithm)

  • OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 시스템을 포함한 다중 반송파 시스템에서 발생하는 PAPR(Peak-to-Average Power Ratio)을 감소시키기 위해 특정 톤 위치에 새로운 톤을 삽입하는 톤 삽입 기법은 성상도를 확장하여 평균 신호전력 대비 최대 신호 전력을 감소시키는 기법이다. 이러한 톤 삽입 기법은 최적의 PAPR 저감 성능을 얻기 위한 삽입 톤 결정을 위해 많은 탐색 연산량을 필요로 함과 동시에 높은 전력상승의 문제를 야기하는 반면, 전력상승을 고려하여 삽입 톤을 결정하면 사용 가능한 톤 삽입 신호가 제한됨에 따라 PAPR 저감 성능이 낮아진다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존의 톤 삽입 기법이 갖는 상충적인 목적들을 다목적 최적화 기법에 적용하여 PAPR 저감 성능과 전력상승을 절충하여 상호간의 유연한 조절이 가능한 가중함 유전자 알고리즘 기반의 톤 삽입 기법을 제안한다 모의 실험을 통하여 제안한 가중함 유전자 알고리즘 기반의 톤 삽입 방법은 PAPR과 전력상승의 문제를 사용자의 의사를 반영하는 가중치에 따라 적절하게 조절할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

2선식 수동루프를 이용한 345[kV] 송전선 주변의 자계저감 설계기법 연구 (A Study on Magnetic Field Reduction Design Technique around 345 kV Transmission Line with 2-wire Set Passive Loop)

  • The controversy over the risk of the human body being affected by electromagnetic fields emitted from 60 Hz power lines continues without end. There are currently no new studies or research progress being made in this direction that is notable, and the number of civil complaints is gradually increasing. The problem is that each study produces different results, among which the effect of exposure to magnetic fields on childhood leukemia is a major one. In Korea, an electrician who was maintaining a 22.9 kV power line died of leukemia, which has recently been recognized as an occupational disease. Methods to reduce magnetic fields from power lines include shielding with wire loops, incorporating split phases and compaction techniques, installing underground power lines, converting to high-voltage direct current (HVDC), and increasing the ground clearance of transmission towers. Depending on whether a separate power supply is needed or not, there are two types of wire loops: passive loop and active loop. Magnetic field reduction is currently done through underground power lines; however, the disadvantage of this process is high construction costs. Installing passive loops, with relatively low construction costs, leads to lower magnetic field reduction rates than installing underground cables and a weakness to not solving the landscape problem. This methodological study aims at designing methods and reducing the effects of 2-wire set loops-the simplest and most practical. Since the method proposed in this study has been designed after analyzing the distribution of complex electromagnetic fields near the expected loop installation location, a practical design can be implemented without the need for any difficult optimization programming.

Bus-voltage Sag Suppressing and Fault Current Limiting Characteristics of the SFCL Due to its Application Location in a Power Distribution System

  • The application of the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) in a power distribution system is expected to contribute the voltage-sag suppression of the bus line as well as the fault-current reduction of the fault line. However, the application effects of the SFCL on the voltage sag of the bus line including the fault current are dependent on its application location in a power distribution system. In this paper, we investigated the fault current limiting and the voltage sag suppressing characteristics of the SFCL due to its application location such as the outgoing point of the feeder, the bus line, the neutral line and the 2nd side of the main transformer in a power distribution system, and analyzed the trace variations of the bus-voltage and fault-feeder current. The simulated power distribution system, which was composed of the universal power source, two transformers with the parallel connection and the impedance load banks connected with the 2nd side of the transformer through the power transmission lines, was constructed and the short-circuit tests for the constructed system were carried out. Through the analysis on the short-circuit tests for the simulated power distribution system with the SFCLs applied into its representative locations, the effects from the SFCL's application on the power distribution system were discussed from the viewpoints of both the suppression of the bus-voltage sag and the reduction of the fault current.

저전력 테스트를 고려한 효율적인 테스트 데이터 압축 방법 (An Efficient Test Data Compression/Decompression for Low Power Testing)

  • 스캔 테스트를 위한 테스트 데이터의 양과 파워 소모는 SoC 테스트에서의 최근의 직면한 가장 큰 문제들이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 저전력 테스트를 고려한 새로운 테스트 데이터 압축 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 압축 방법은 테스트 데이터 압축을 위해 압축율, 전력 소모 감소율과 하드웨어 오버헤드를 고려하여 최대 효율을 가지도록 하는데 기초하고 있다. 압축율과 전력 감소율을 높이기 위해서 본 논문에서는 IR (Input Reduction) 기법과 MSCIR (Modified Statistical Code using Input Reduction) 압축 코드을 사용하며, 뿐만아니라 이를 위한 사전 작업인 새로운 스캔 플립플롭 순서 재조합 기법 및 테스트 패턴 순서 재조합 방법을 제안한다. 기존의 연구와는 달리 CSR 구조를 사용하지 않고 원래의 테스트 데이터 $T_D$를 사용하여 압축하는 방법을 사용한다. 이렇게 함으로써 제안하는 압축 방법은 기존의 연구에 비해 훨씬 높은 압축율을 가지며 낮은 하드웨어 오버헤드의 디컴프레션 구조와 적은 전력 소모를 가진다. ISCAS '89 벤치 회로에 대찬 기존의 연구와의 비교로서 그 결과를 알 수 있다.

  • We present an efficient heuristic algorithm to reduce glitch power dissipation in combinational circuits. In this paper, the total number of glitches are reduced by replacing existing gates with functionally equivalent ones and by gate sizing which classified into three types and by buffer insertion which classified into two types. The proposed algorithm combines gate freezing, gate sizing. and buffer insertion into a single optimization process to maximize the glitch reduction. Our experimental results show an average of $67.8\%$ glitch reduction and $32.0\%$ power reduction by simultaneous gate freezing, gate sizing, and buffer insertion.

전기 조향 장치용 BLDC 모터 내의 코깅 토크 저감을 위한 설계 기술 개발 (Design Techniques for reduction of Cogging Torque in Brushless DC Motors used for Electric Power Steering)

  • Cogging torque is often a principal source of vibration and control difficulty in permanent magnet motors, especially at low speeds and loads. For example, reduction of cogging torque is an important specification for DC motors used for electric power stee- ring. This paper examines two motor design techniques, stator tooth notching and rotor pole skewing with magnet pole shaping, for reduction of cogging torque, and the effect of each method on the airgap flux, and the use of the Maxwell stress method and Fourier decomposition to calculate the periodic cogging torque. The analyses show that the cogging torque can be nearly eliminated by the suggested designs, with minimal scacrifice of output torque.

  • 본 논문은 근거리 통신에 있어서 새로운 통신선을 설치하여 이용하는 대신에 기존의 전력선을 이용하는 통신시 스템에 대하여 신호감쇠 저감방법을 다룬다. 이 시스템은 정보화 시대가 되어감에 따라 원격검침이나 가정자동화 등에 매우 유용하다. 기존의 시스템은 정보를 전달하는데 있어서 신호전압의 감쇠로 인한 문제점을 가지고 있다. 제안된 시스템은 작은 내부저항을 가지는 특수한 구조의 스위칭 증폭기 시스템과 커플링 회로에 고효율이 페라이 트 코어를 사용하였다 PLC 시스템의 부하손실과 커플링 회로에서의 손실을 막기 위해 이 새로운 시스템을 제안하였다.

  • This paper investigates the reduction of RE(Radiated Emission) noise in a high power LED module circuit using PWM(Pulse Width Module) switching controller circuit. Poorly designed LED lighting module can experience the RE and CE(Conducted Emission) noise problem. This paper propose the reduction of noise source and improvement of EMI filter design in a high power LED lighting module. The experimental and simulation results showed that reduce the RE noise level effectively.
