  • Investigations of the commercial aircraft impact effect on nuclear island infrastructures have been drawing extensive attention, and this paper aims to perform the safety assessment of Generation III nuclear power plant (NPP) buildings subjected to typical commercial aircrafts crash. At present Part III, the local damage of the rigid components of aircraft, e.g., engine and landing gear, impacting the steel concrete (SC) structures of NPP containment is mainly discussed. Two typical SC target panels with the thicknesses of 40 mm and 100 mm, as well as the steel cylindrical projectile with a mass of 2.15 kg and a diameter of 80 mm are fabricated. By using a large-caliber air gas gun, both the projectile penetration and perforation test are conducted, in which the striking velocities were ranged from 96 m/s to 157 m/s. The bulging velocity and the maximal deflection of rear steel plate, as well as penetration depth of projectile are derived, and the local deformation and failure modes of SC panels are assessed experimentally. Then, the commercial finite element program LS-DYNA is utilized to perform the numerical simulations, by comparisons with the experimental and simulated projectile impact process and SC panel damage, the numerical algorithm, constitutive models and the corresponding parameters are verified. The present work can provide helpful references for the evaluation of the local impact resistance of NPP buildings against the aircraft engine.

  • Investigations of the commercial aircraft impact effect on nuclear island infrastructures have been drawing extensive attention, and this paper aims to perform the safety assessment of Generation III nuclear power plant (NPP) buildings subjected to typical commercial aircrafts crash. At present Part I, finite element (FE) models establishment and validations for both the aircrafts and NPP buildings are performed. (i) Airbus A320 and A380 aircrafts are selected as the representative medium and large commercial aircrafts, and the corresponding fine FE models including the skin, beam, fuel and etc. are established. By comparing the numerically derived impact force time-histories with the existing published literatures, the rationality of aircrafts models is verified. (ii) Fine FE model of the Chinese Zhejiang Sanao NPP buildings is established, including the detailed structures and reinforcing arrangement of both the containment and auxiliary buildings. (iii) By numerically reproducing the existing 1/7.5 scaled aircraft model impact tests on steel plate reinforced concrete (SC) panels and assessing the impact process and velocity time-history of aircraft model, as well as the damage and the maximum deflection of SC panels, the applicability of the existing three concrete constitutive models (i.e., K&C, Winfrith and CSC) are evaluated and the superiority of Winfrith model for SC panels under deformable missile impact is verified. The present work can provide beneficial reference for the integral aircraft crash analyses and structural damage assessment in the following two parts of this paper.

  • The launch operation for a space launch vehicle(SLV) is to be conducted by the systematic operation between SLV and the Technological Equipment(TE) such as the mechanical, fuel, and electrical ground support equipment at launch complex(LC). The basic source for the operation of the instruments in LC is the electrical power supply system, Technological Equipment Power Supply System(TEPSS), which is one of the Launch Control System. Thus TEPSS should supply the required electrical power to TE with reliability. In this paper, TEPSS which supplies operational electrical power to TE is introduced.

  • Recently the technology of green growth became more important role among the problems of running out of fossil fuels and global warming. To procure a new growth power combined with energy and green growth, a lot of investment for wind power, photovoltaics system, fuel cell and biofuel expanded day by day. Among these, wing power has a merit of a highly economic and no discharge of toxic substance. These days government and industrial companies actively support the development of wind power technology with lots of investment, but domestic related education and equipment still stay in research level when it is compared with foreign advanced countries which lead the wind power technology. Therefore to expand the base of basic skill required in the related industrials and to advance technology, we are in the situation to be needed a development of a new curriculum and educational equipment which is analogous with the actual industrial system. In this paper a development of a new educational equipment for the learning of turbine control is introduced. This educational equipment has been developed for students to get easy understanding for the theory of wind turbine control. And finally to demonstrate the effect of the use of the developed equipments and curriculum a questionnaire carried out.

  • Power plants have many components and equipment. It is difficult for operators to know the time of failure or the equipment that fails. Plants incur heavy economic losses due to unexpected failure. The equipment in power plants is constantly monitored by various sensors and instruments. However, prevention of failure is very difficult. Therefore, engineers are developing many types of failure-alarm systems that can detect the abnormal functioning of equipment. Such failure-alarm systems inform only about the abnormal functioning of equipment and do not indicate the cause of failure or the parts that have failed. In this study, we have developed a failure-prediction system that can provide details on the cause of trouble and the maintenance method.

  • In this paper, AC electric vehicle propulsion system(Converter/Inverter) using high power semiconductor, UM(Intelligent Power module) is proposed. 2-Parallel operation of two PWM converter is adopted for increasing capacity of system and the VVVF inverter control is used a mixed control algorithm, where the vector control strategy at low speed region and slip-frequency control strategy at high speed region. The proposed propulsion system is verified by experimental results with a 1,350kW converter and 1,100kVA inverter with four 210kW traction motors.

  • The equipment using the Power electronic device is recently increased in the distribution system, so power utility and customers increase in concerning about harmonics level. Accordingly, The power utility which prepares a measure for the harmonic public standard and manege process must analysis of the harmonics level and the effect on equipment interconnecting distribution system. In the past, the measurement equipment and technique is imperfect, so very difficult to investigate the harmonics and trend. But the improvement of the measurement equipment recently is possible to obtain the data realtime for harmonic analysis. In this paper, we research the measuring domestic harmonic and constructing of DB based on the IEC standard.

  • The true north-finding equipment utilizing gyro sensor is used for INS(Inertial Navigation System) and has an increasing preference for gyro compass system due to compact size, lightening, low power and price. The purpose of this experiment is to research gyro compass system providing high performance in the field of manned or unmanned gyro compass system which proposes the accuracy of 1% utilizing experimented equipment at true north of the earth. Unlike the conventional system, the proposed gyro sensor system indicates to be applied in the various and specific equipment using multiple technique and method.
