  • Fe-6.5 wt.% Si alloys are widely known to have excellent soft magnetic properties such as high magnetic flux density, low coercivity, and low core loss at high frequency. In this work, disc-shaped preforms are prepared by spark plasma sintering at 1223 K after inert gas atomization of Fe-6.5 wt.% Si powders. Fe-6.5 wt.% Si sheets are rolled by a powder hot-rolling process without cracking, and their microstructure and soft magnetic properties are investigated. The microstructure and magnetic properties (saturation magnetization and core loss) of the hot-rolled Fe-6.5 wt.% Si sheets are examined by scanning electron microscopy, electron backscatter diffraction, vibration sample magnetometry, and AC B-H analysis. The Fe-6.5 wt.% Si sheet rolled at a total reduction ratio of 80% exhibits good soft magnetic properties such as a saturation magnetization of 1.74 T and core loss ($W_{5/1000}$) of 30.7 W/kg. This result is caused by an increase in the electrical resistivity resulting from an increased particle boundary density and the oxide layers between the primary particle boundaries.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the variations of rheological and magnetic properties with powder loading in plastic anisotropic ferrite magnets. The measured relative viscosities with powder loading were compared with the calculated ones. The variation of relative viscosities with powder loading was in good agreement with that of particle alignment. Remanent flux density and maximum energy product increased linearly with the increase of powder loading, and then showed maximum values. The decrease of magnetic properties at high powder loading was caused by rapid decrease of particle alignment due to the drastic increase of mixture viscosity. The powder loading for maximum magnetic properties is dependent on magnetic field during injection molding and melt viscosity of binder, so the binder with low melt viscosity is necessary to fabricate the magnet with high properties.

  • This study aimed to evaluate of the hardened properties (mortar consistency, setting time, absorption properties, drying shrinkage, and bond strength) of the basalt powder sludge mortar recycling a basalt powder sludge occurred during the manufacture process of basalt stone as a replacing material for the sea-sand used to cement filling compound for surface preparation. The hardened mortar made of the basalt powder sludge showed an enhanced performance or similar with the properties of normal mortar used to cement filling compound for surface preparation. But, the drying shrinkage was increased more than a normal cement mortar in the hardened mortar made of the basalt powder sludge since curing 8 - 9days. And the bond strength is low in the hardened mortar used the basalt powder sludge. On the whole, properties of the hardened mortar used the basalt powder sludge correspond to the required minimum quality criterion in the KS F 4716 'cement filling compound for surface preparation'.

  • Aging characteristics and mechanical properties of commercial 7xxx series Al composites were investigated from viewpoint of ceramic contents. After sintering process, sintered densities of blended and composite powder were 95 and 97%, respectively. Each part was solution-treated at $475^{\circ}C$ for 60 min and aged $175^{\circ}C$. And two-step aging was also performed form $120^{\circ}C$ to $175^{\circ}C$. The aging behavior of the sintered composite pow-der was different from that of sintered blended powder. The peak aging time of the composite was rapid as well due to strain. Before aging, mechanical properties of sintered composite powder was significantly higher than that of sintered blended powder. These increments of properties were directly affected by ceramic particles. However, after aging, incremental rate of mechanical properties was slowed in the composite.

  • In this study, we evaluated the effects of acid leaching on the properties of Cr powder synthesized using self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS). Cr powder was synthesized from a mixture of Cr2O3 and magnesium (Mg) powders using the SHS Process, and the byproducts after the reaction were removed using acid leaching. The properties of the recovered Cr powder were analyzed via X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), particle size analysis (PSA), and oxygen content analysis. The results show that perfect selective leaching of Cr is challenging because of various factors such as incomplete reaction, reaction kinetics, the presence of impurities, and incompatibility between the acid and metal mixture. Therefore, this study provides essential information on the properties under acidic conditions during the production of high-quality Cr powder using a self-propagating high-temperature synthesis method.

  • This study examined rheological properties of blast furnace slag and ash paste that are widely used as cement concrete for mineral admixture in current. In that way rheological properties of the paste of mineral admixture only was examined. The result of this study were as follow: In order to analyze that the rheological properties of the mineral admixture only, fine particles were produced with grinding machine to 3 particle sizes. These powders in general from the result of comparison with and analysis of rheological properties and the coefficient n and De values. The result that ash powder was higher in plastic viscosity and yield stress than Slag powder, and with the same n value, ash powder showed higher plastic viscosity and yield stress than Slag powder. But Slag powder in particle size distribution showed a sensitive tendency on changing in rheological properties.

  • Rheological properties of $\alpha$-rice powder were investigated in comparison with those of polished rice powder. Flow behavior for cooked solutions of two powdered samples(5~11%) were Binghampseudo plastic. Consistency index and yield stress of cooked solution of powdered a-rice were much lower than those of polished rice powder while flow behavior index was nearly similar. 9% cooked solution of powdered $\alpha$ -rice showed slightly weaker thixotrophic behavior and more ease tendency to relax under the steady shear than those of polished rice powder.
