The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between work-family conflict and job-life satisfaction of married female workers. Two data sets were used in this study. Both data sets were gathered from structured questionnaires and time dairies. The first data set was collected from 370 married female production workers in 1995 and the second set was collected from 143 married female clerical workers in 1996. Job and life satisfaction were measured on 5-point Likert scale where 5= very unsatisfied and 5= very satisfied. The overact means for both groups were 2.97, 3.09 for job and life satisfaction respectively The findings of this study are; 1) Clerical workers have significantely higher job and life satisfaction than production workers. 2) Multivariate analysis reveal that work-family conflict is negatively related to job satisfaction while income is positively related to job satisfaction. 3) In the path analysis model, work-family conflict has a negative direct effect and indirect negative effect mediated through job satisfaction on life satisfaction. Job satisfaction and husband's division of housework have a positive direct effect on life satisfaction. However, total labor time has a negative indirect effect mediated through work-family conflict on life satisfaction and income huts a positive indirect effect mediated through job satisfaction on life satisfaction.
The two main purposes of this study were to develop the 'Three Generation Family-Madang Program' and to examine its effects on enhancing family functioning and strengthening family relationships. The 'Three Generation Family-Madang Program' consisted of six sessions, each of which included various types of activities and educational materials to evoke interests of the three-generation family members. Subjects of this study were 21 triples, consisting of mothers and their family members, each for the experimental group and the control group, respectively. Mean, Standard Deviation, MANCOVA, and Discriminant Analysis were carried out for the data analyses. Our results showed that the 'Three Generation Family-Madang Program' was effective in enhancing family adaptability and family relationships. Our program focused on the parent generation to have a better understanding and a more positive perspective toward other family members, which would enhance family functioning and family relationships. Our program also received positive feedback from the grandparent and grandchildren generation participants.
Although researchers have, during the past decade, become increasingly interested in customer satisfaction customer reaction, and service quality issues, very little of research has devoted to the family restaurant. Family restaurant industry is among the fastest growing sectors of the tourism market. This paper discusses the importance of the family restaurant product and service quality, and presents the relationship among service quality, customer satisfaction, and customer reaction. The literature supports the value of family restaurant's service quality and relation between service quality and customer reaction. Exploratory study examined customer's satisfaction with service quality components and customer's reaction with satisfaction. The survey was conducted in four phases; service quality, customer reaction(satisfaction, repurchase intention, and word of mouth), restaurant information, general profile of customer. The results of the study show that service quality(product's quality, physical character) provided family restaurant customer with the overall satisfaction, and service quality affected on customer reaction(repurchase intention, positive word of mouth). Also overall satisfaction affected on repurchase intention and positive word of mouth.
= ABSTRACT =
Objectives: This study was carried out to identify the relationships of family burden and mental health service needs of chronic mental patients in community.
Methods: Objects of the study were 153 chronic mental patients in community of P. city in korea. Data were collected from December, 2007 to February, 2008 using structured questionnaire. Research tools of this study were family burden tool developed by Pai & Kapur (1981) and mental health service needs tool developed by Kim (2003).
Results: The average grades for family burden was 1.62 points. And the biggest part of family burden was economic burden(1.74), followed by interrupt of daily life(1.67), interrupt of family relationship(1.64), interrupt of family leisure (1.57), effects of mental health(1.50), and effects of physical health(1.43). The average grades for mental health service needs was 2.72 points. And the biggest part of mental health service needs was rehabilitation service(3.09), followed by social service(2.87), and Psychiatric medical
service(2.21). Positive correlation showed between all parts of family burden. And, positive correlation showed between psychiatric medical service and interrupt of daily life(r=.281, p<.01), psychiatric medical service and effects of physical health(r=.355,p<.01), social service and effects of mental health(r=.213,p<.01).
Conclusion: The family burden for care giver of mental patients was related with all parts of family burden and mental health service needs of family. Thus, these results should be considered to reduce family burden for care giver of mental patients in community.
Purpose: This study is to identify the relationship among married nurses' social support, work-family conflict and work-family enrichment and to examine the influence of social support on work-family conflict and work-family enrichment. Methods: Data were collected from married nurses working at three hospitals with more than 100 beds in J Province and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis H test, Pearson's correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS 21 program. Findings: In the correlation analysis only social support and work-family enrichment showed positive correlation. As a result of hierarchical multiple regression analysis, social support still acted as a significant influence factor on work-family conflict and work-family enrichment even in the state of considering the effect of control variables. Conclusion: In order to lower work-family conflict and to enhance work-family enrichment of married nurses, it is necessary to introduce and implement welfare policies for work-family reconciliation at the workplace level and at home level it is necessary to provide concrete measures so that married nurses can find the value of life as workers while house working and nurturing.
Purpose: The study was done to identify the relationship of treatment side effects, family support, and quality of life in patients with cancer, and factors influencing quality of life. Method: A convenience sample of 106 patients who were receiving cancer treatment at W hospital were interviewed using the Side Effects scale by Hur, Family Support scale by Kang, and QOL scale by Ro. Result: Results indicate that women experienced more severe side effects than men. There was a negative relationship between side effects and quality of life, and a positive relationship between family support and quality of life. The most bothersome side effects were changes in taste and appetite, followed by general weakness and fatigue. Side effects such as loss of hair, nausea, dizziness, numbness, pins and needles in fingers and toes, and dry mouth were also experienced. General weakness and family support were analysed as to whether they were factors influencing quality of life. Conclusion: The results revealed that relieving general weakness should be given high priority in nursing interventions for patients undergoing cancer treatment. In addition, nursing programs should be developed that can reinforce family support.
The purpose of this study was to examine how sociodemographic status, family-related influences, and perceived future economic prospects were associated with the possibility of getting married and having children in a sample of 607 single young Korean adults. The sample comprised unmarried men and women in their 20s and 30s taken from the 2021 Seoul Family Report survey, and descriptive statistical and multiple regression analyses were conducted on the data. The results indicated that age, non-traditional marriage/childbearing values, parents' marital relationship during childhood, and the prospect of having a stable job and owning a home were significantly related to the possibility of marriage. With regard to the possibility of having children, a significant relationship was found with age, level of education, non-traditional marriage/childbearing values, recognition of the importance of family, parents' marital relationship during childhood, and the prospect of having a stable job and owning a home. The study also examined the importance of policies that make the possibility of marriage and having children more appealing to young unmarried adults in Korea by providing a positive outlook for the economy, a sense of stability, and a supportive approach to the value of having a family.
Understanding the experience of parents without custody after divorce is important in terms of facilitating their adjustment and positive relationships with their children. Ninety-two noncustodial parents divorced within the previous 5 years completed a structured questionnaire. We examined differences between noncustodial fathers and mothers in terms of the frequency of the contact and the relationship satisfaction with children. In addition, using the regression model, we analyzed the effects of several characteristics of noncustodial parents, including gender, on the frequency of contact as well as the relationship satisfaction with children. The main results of the study are as follows. First, noncustodial fathers and mothers exhibited similar low levels of contact by phone and in-person visits. Second, noncustodial parents with a child older than 8 years old visited the child more frequently, and were more satisfied than noncustodial parents with younger children. Third, the level of desire to gain the child custody had a significant effect on the frequency of contact and the satisfaction of the relationship between the noncustodial parents and their children. Fourth, noncustodial parents with more positive feeling about their former spouse contacted more frequently with the children. Fifth, compared with noncustodial fathers, noncustodial mothers demonstrated a higher relationship satisfaction with their children.
This study analyzed the relationship between adult attachment, self-differentiation, and self-esteem in solving the fear of intimacy in interpersonal relationships experienced by adults. This study targeted people in the 20s to 50s age group, and data from 1,263 participants were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0. The results are as follows. First, it was found that secure attachment had a negative relationship with the fear of intimacy, while the relationship between self-differentiation and self-esteem was positive. On the other hand, anxiety attachment and avoidance attachment were shown to have a positive relationship with the fear of intimacy, but a negative relationship was identified with self-differentiation and self-esteem. Second, it became evident that self-differentiation and self-esteem mediated the relationship between adult attachment and the fear of intimacy. Additionally, the findings indicated that self-differentiation and self-esteem had a dual mediating effect. The results of this study can be used as basic data for counseling and educational programs to solve the fear of intimacy in interpersonal relationships experienced by adults.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the factors influencing the occupational attitudes of nursing students in the probation period. Methods: Nursing students in the probation period from five hospitals completed an anonymous survey. The instruments included the nursing occupational attitude scale, family adaptability, partnership, growth, affection, and resolve index, and perceived social support scale. The study examined the moderation model between family function, perceived social support, and occupational attitudes using PROCESS 3.2. Results: For nursing students, when social support was low, family function had a significant positive impact on occupational attitudes and intentions, and the effect was much higher than that of perceived social support. Conclusion: Family function has a significant positive explanatory effect on attitude and intention (β = .13, p < .001 and β = .12, p < .001); the interaction term between family function and perceived social support are significant (β = .01, p < .001 and β = .01, p < .001). Perceived social support has a significant moderating effect on the relationship between family function and occupational attitudes of nursing students in the probation period. Family function has a significant difference in the occupational attitudes and intentions of nursing students with low perceived social support. Nursing students perceive social support in the probation period has a significant moderation effect in the relationship between their family function and occupational attitudes. Interns with low family function should be given more social support to improve their occupational attitudes.
