  • In this paper, we propose an efficient technique to minimize the input offset of a dynamic latch comparator. We analyzed offset due to charge injection mismatching and unwanted positive feedback during sampling phase. The last one was only considered in the previous works. Based on the analysis, we proposed a modified dynamic latch with initialization switch. The proposed circuit was simulated using 0.65$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS process parameter with 5v supply. The simulation results showed that the input offset is less than 5mv at 200㎒ sampling frequency and the input offset is improved about 80% compared with previous work in 5k$\Omega$ input resistance.

  • Poor subsistence farmers who live in a semi-arid area of northern Ethiopia build irrigation systems to overcome water shortages. However, there is a high risk of malaria transmission when increased standing water provides more favorable habitats for mosquito breeding. This is a serious problem because there are many barriers to malaria control measures and health care systems in the area. Using a causal loop diagram and computer simulations, the author attempted to visually illustrate positive and negative feedbacks between mosquito and human populations in the context of Simret, which is a small village located in northern Ethiopia and is generally considered a malaria-free area. The simulation results show that the number of infectious mosquitos increases to 17,215 at its peak, accounting for 3.5% of potentially dangerous mosquitos. At the same time, the number of sick people increases to 574 at its peak, accounting for 15% of local population. The malaria outbreak is controlled largely because of a fixed number of vulnerable people or local population that acts as an intermediate host.

  • Dialogic reading program is designed to involve children actively during shared reading and to provide a rich avenue for language development. The present study is to examine the effects of the modified dialogic reading program on parent-child interactions in parents of children with developmental language delays. six children with developmental language delays and their parents were participated. This 4 week program was composed of three group sessions and one individual feedback session. Parent-child interactions were videotaped before and after the program. As a result, all six parents showed increase in positive behaviors during the interaction after completing the program. And negative behaviors were partly decreased. These results were discussed in conclusions.

  • Many type of smart materials and control laws are available to actively adjust the structure from various external disturbances. Usually, a certain type of control law to activate a specific smart material is tell established, but the effectiveness of the control scheme is limited by the choice of the smart materials and the responses of the structure. ER fluid is adequate to provide small but arbitrary control forces at any point along the structure. It was found that active vibration control of the structure embedded with ER fluids fluidly to suppress the vibration excited with broad band frequency due to the limited change of the structure characteristics. To compensate this limited effect of the control scheme with ER fluid alone, PPF control using PZT as an actuator is added to construct a hybrid controller.

  • This paper shows an asynchronous comparator circuit for 1.2Gbps signal receiver that converts 1.2Gbps data rate input signals with less than 100㎷ swing to on-chip CMOS compatible voltage levels in a 0.35${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS process. Folded-cascode nMOS input stage with source-coupled pMOS input stage cover rail-to-rail input common-mode range. Drastic gain-bandwidth increment due to gain-boosting stage with positive-feedback latch as well as wide input common-mode range make designed circuit be suitable for a fully differential signal receiver. HSPICE simulation results show that worst-case sensitivity is less than 20㎷ and maximum propagation delay is 640-psec. And also we verified 3.97㎽ power consumption with 150㎷ differential swing amplitude at 1.2Gbps.

  • This paper aims at investigating the dynamics between aging population and local finance. In recent years, the aging rate has been accelerating the pace. The trend implies that Korea is moving towards the aging society, presumably, with unprecedented speed in the world. Aging society's biggest problems are centered around the explosive growth of the financial needs. In particular, these problems are apt to appear more seriously in local governments, as most of them are confronted with high level of aging population and poor financial bases. Firstly, it analyzes how the population structure in the local government impacts local finance, income and expenditure. Based upon in-depth literature reviews, this study examines variables related to aging population and local fiance. Secondly, it focuses on a series of positive and negative feedback loops which would reveal the essence of the mutual interaction structure between aging population and local governments' fiscal behaviors.

  • This research is concerned with development of the active vibration absorber using piezoelectric actuators. This active isolation system consists of a-pairs of PZT actuators bonded on a S-shaped aluminum plate and the passive damping material. The active system is connected to the passive system in series. In this paper, one of the popular control techniques which have been successfully applied to the smart structure is the Positive Position Feedback(PPF) control. The digital PPF control lows downloaded to the DSP chip and a main program, which runs SISO PPF algorithm. The structure and dynamic characteristics of the proposed active vibration isolation system and described in detail. To demonstate the effectiveness of the active vibration control, the PPF controller is first employed. Experimental results show that the active vibration isolation is possible by means of the proposed system.

  • This paper is concerned with the implementation of the active vibration suppression controller using analog circuit and microprocessor. The target active vibration controller is the positive position feedback(PPF) controller since it provides a simple algorithm suitable for both analog circuit and digital controllers. In this study, the analog PPF controller is realized using an operational amplifier and the digital PPF controller is realized using a low-cost micro-controller. The circuit diagrams are explained in detail. We then discuss the advantages and disadvantages of both methods from the view of practical implementation. Experimental results show that both implementation methods can be effectively used for the active vibration control but need to be chosen based on the mission objective.

  • This research is concerned with the active vibration control of slewing smart structures subjected to rotating disturbance. When cantilever beam rotates about axes perpendicular to the undeformed beam's longitudinal axis, it experiences inertial loading. Hence, the beam vibrates after the slewing ends. In this paper, the analytical model for a single slewing flexible beam with surface bonded piezoelectric sensor and actuator is developed using the Hamilton's principle with discretization by the assumed mode method. The theoretial model is verified by the experimental open loop frequency response data. The controller is designed for residual vibration suppression after slewing. The designed cotroller is a positive position feedback (PPF) controller for controlling the first mode vibration.

  • In this paper, a self-tuning regulator for a speed control of a permanent magnet type stepping motor is proposed. The self-tuning theory provides a nonlinear modeling of a stepping motor drive system and can provide the controller with information regarding the reference variation and parameter variation of the stepping motor through the on-line estimation. The proposed self-tuning regulator organize the positive feedback loop and IP(Integral-Proportional) type. Therefore, the proposed self-tuning regulator has a robust control capabilities during dynamic operation. The availability of the proposed controller is verified through experimental results.
