  • The purpose of this study was to examine consumer purchasing behavior of the online shoppers particularly using online clothing shopping mall and to analyze the key factors of both satisfaction and dissatisfaction of their purchase and to compare the both group by lifestyle segmentation in order to provide the e-CRM strategies. Focus group interviews and survey were conducted in December, 2003 with 30 online shoppers who have an experience of online clothing purchasing. The data analysis included the content analysis, descriptive statistics, K-means and factor analysis. Key findings of the study were as follows: First, online shoppers spent average 3.5 hours on internet and usually purchased clothing while surfing the web. Second, consumers were satisfied with reasonable price and customized service but dissatisfied with delayed delivery, limited product availability in both size and color and return policy. Third, according to the lifestyle segmentation, online shoppers could be characterized as 'Luxurious', 'Trendy' and 'Prudent' 'Luxury-oriented consumers', who value fashion, diet and social activity, tended to purchase basic yet high quality products. However, 'Trend-oriented consumers', to whom fashion trend was most important, purchased various latest fashion products with reasonable price and showed generally positive response to emails sent by e-retailers. And lastly 'Prudence-oriented consumers', whose buying decision was based solely on practicality, appeared to be reluctant to purchase clothing online while seeking more credible information and competitive price. In conclusion, this study has its significance in that it helps promote relationships between customers and e-retailers by providing differentiated e-CRM strategies through each customer groups 'lifestyle segmentation and consumer purchasing behavior analysis.

  • Purpose - This paper investigates whether managerial overconfidence is associated with firm-specific crash risk. Overconfidence leads managers to overestimate the returns of their investment projects, and misperceive negative net present value projects as value creating. They even use voluntary disclosures to convey their optimistic beliefs about the firms' long-term prospects to the stock market. Thus, the overconfidence bias can lead to managerial bad news hoarding behavior. When bad news accumulates and crosses some tipping point, it will come out all at once, resulting in a stock price crash. Research design, data and methodology - 7,385 firm-years used for the main analysis are from the KIS Value database between 2006 and 2013. This database covers KOSPI-listed and KOSDAQ-listed firms in Korea. The proxy for overconfidence is based on excess investment in assets. A residual from the regression of total asset growth on sales growth run by industry-year is used as an independent variable. If a firm has at least one crash week during a year, it is referred to as a high crash risk firm. The dependant variable is a dummy variable that equals 1 if a firm is a high crash risk firm, and zero otherwise. After explaining the relationship between managerial overconfidence and crash risk, the total sample was divided into two sub-samples; chaebol firms and non-chaebol firms. The relation between how I overconfidence and crash risk varies with business group affiliation was investigated. Results - The results showed that managerial overconfidence is positively related to crash risk. Specifically, the coefficient of OVERC is significantly positive, supporting the prediction. The results are strong and robust in non-chaebol firms. Conclusions - The results show that firms with overconfident managers are likely to experience stock price crashes. This study is related to past literature that examines the impact of managerial overconfidence on the stock market. This study contributes to the literature by examining whether overconfidence can explain a firm's future crashes.

  • This study conducted an interview questionnaire survey of 245 old people in some halls for the aged in the Daejeon Metropolitan City from June 1 to 31, 2008. on their attitudes toward and practice items for oral health, resulting in the following findings. 1. In terms of socio-demographic characteristics of the subjects, males females were 48.2% and 51.8% respectively, and in the educational level, no-education, elementary school graduation, middle school graduation, and high school graduation and higher were 27.8%, 33.9%, 26.5%, and 11.8%, respectively, showing the statistically significant difference (p=0.009). 2. In terms of attitudes toward oral health management by oral health care education, regarding questions of use of oral and dental hygiene products (p=0.016), experience in scaling, and whether or not they wear false teeth (p=0.018), a group having received the education rather than a group not having received it showed more positive oral health management attitudes, indicating the statistically significant difference. 3. In daily living inconvenience of acute oral health diseases according to oral health care education, acute oral diseases presents in a group with the education ($2.30{\pm}0.72$) lower than in a group without the education ($2.49{\pm}0.63$), indicating the statistically significant difference(p=0.031). 4. Factors of oral health diseases showed the significant relation with types of health insurance, subjective systemic health status, acute diseases and subjective oral health status (p<0.01), and the explanatory power or the final model was 38%. Accordingly it is thought that there is the indicated need for analyzing and grasping factors related to oral health diseases among the elderly through considering their attitudes toward and practice for oral health, and developing programs of enhancing the oral health of the elderly in order for them to change their attitudes and habits, and also reinforcing oral health care education for the elderly focused on making them perform oral health behaviors in a right way.

  • Public investment in education has been justified by assumed positive externalities of education. Using the 1995 10% Population and Housing Census and 1998 Korean Labor and Income Panel Study, this study first examines the distribution of human capital across Korean cities and industries, and second, investigates the sizes of external economies of education by exploring how the average schooling of workers in cities and industries affect an individual worker's hourly wage. Generally, the average schooling of workers in the capital region cities is much higher than in other cities and the average schooling of workers in high tech industries is much higher than in other industries. As the average years of schooling in a city increases by one year, workers with the same personal and job characteristics such as sex, education, experience, occupation, and firm size, earn about 3% more. Also as the average years of schooling of workers in an industry increases by one year, the workers with the same personal and job characteristics earns about 5~7% more.

  • The empirical study that used the logit model and the Heckman's selection bias model based upon 'Korea Labor & Income Panel Study' shows that the experience of job training has a positive effect on the probability of employment, as well as on the wage increase. The analysis also sheds light on the effect on employment with wage workers who experienced job training. When the discouraged unemployed are not classified as labor force participants, that is the unemployed, and the industrial dummy variables are excluded, logit estimation shows that training program in the public sector, not in the private sector, significantly increases their employment probability. However when these same workers are classified as the unemployed and the industrial dummies are included, logit estimation shows that public and private training programs has no effect on their employability.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the rural community planning focusing on the stepwise empowerment system in Jinan-gun, Jeollabuk-do province. This paper also tries to examine how this system affect the awareness for community planning and empowerment of the residents. The satisfaction of the people who join this program were also investigated. The subjects of the research were divided into two groups. Group A consisted of the people who join the system from the first stage, and group B consisted of the people who joined the fourth stage directly. The differences of the recognition, capability changes and satisfaction between two groups were compared and analyzed by questionnaires. The results of this research can be summarized as follows. The first, group A recognized the community planning system in Jinan-gun more positively than group B. They thought that it's very useful and beneficial for their community and this system should be continued further. The second, group A considered that they achieved bigger advancement in community design capabilities in terms of personal, relational and social aspects than group B. In addition, group A also showed higher satisfaction for rural community planning than group B. Based on the results, alternatives for rural community planning were drawn as follows. The first, considering that group A showed more positive responses, starting from the first stage is more stable way to succeed in rural community planning. Which means the critical condition of community design is not the community business but the improving the public awareness and community mind. The second, it's considered that the number of participation is proportional to the advancement of capability in community project, so improving residents' opportunity to participation in community design might be effective. The third, community leader is another critical condition. It is needed to pay more attention to the education for the rural community leader with good experience and capability of community affairs.
