Factors Affecting the Choice of International Freight Forwarders for Korean Shippers (국내 화주의 국제물류주선기업 선정요인)

  • A freight forwarder plays an important role in global trade and logistics by connecting worldwide nodes such as shippers, ports, and airports. Most freight forwarders in Korea are small and do not provide a sophisticated and professional service. This study aims to develop a strategy for Korean freight forwarders to the world-class 3PLs which they have to establish the strategy on how shippers select their freight forwarders. We conducted a higher-order factor analysis using the PLS-SEM techniques on the SmartPLS program to confirm the importance and significance of each factor, while considering relevant previous research. The findings suggested that shippers chose their freight forwarders for international logistics activities primarily by the reliability and forwarder service factors. Therefore, freight forwarders in Korea have to strengthen confidence and widen their service to shippers in order to become leading logistics companies.

  • A voluminous research on efficiency employs the DEA(Data Envelope Analysis) models. There are, however, only very few that have an interest in the factors influencing such efficiencies. We, furthermore, do not see any studies which analyze the long-term efficiency of the logistics providers using the panel cointegration techniques. The purpose of this paper, hence, is to evaluate the efficiency, analyse its determinants and show a long-term relationship between turnover and the other variables employing the SBM(Slack Based Measure) model, Tobit model, the panel procedure and the FMOLS(Fully Modified OLS). The panel data are composed of 9 individuals and 6 years. The panel cointegrating vectors show that the group coefficient of asset and employees is not only significant but has expected signs, while some of the individual coefficients are insignificant or/and exhibit wrong signs. The panel cointegrating vectors from fully modified OLS also indicate that the estimated coefficients of the panel analysis tend to be overvalued and the asset influences the turnover far greater than the employee does.

The Priority Analysis of Reserve Berth in Gwangyang Port Using Fuzzy-AHP (Fuzzy-AHP를 이용한 광양항 컨테이너부두 여유선석 활용대안 우선순위 분석)

  • Competition between international Hub ports has been more and more intense. In order to invigorate itself, Gwang-Yang port has been making multilateral efforts. However, it has not still reached 300Millions TEU which is the standard to be permitted as a self-reliance Hub port. Therefore, a functional modification of berth should be considered. This study suggests to transform container berths to general berths. This article is focused on reserve berth mode of Gwang Yang hub port and selected three kinds of berths as alternative subjects of the study: general berth, exclusive berth, and multipurpose berth. This research has conducted that The subjects of the survey were in relation with Logistics as professional mutually group about Gwang-Yang hub port. The measurements of this survey were measure section and factor. Also, Fuzzy AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) was applied to the survey. According to the result, by measuring weight values of alternatives, the best favored one was multipurpose berth expect stability (32.6%), Exclusive berth was graded the most among the alternatives. Also, based on total weight value, the order of priority is as follows: multipurpose berth(38.2%), exclusive port(33.7%), general berth(28.1%).

  • This paper proposes the implementation plan of information network for an E-Navigation. Firstly, It configures to the network system based on E-Navigation information network using information and communication technology. And then, it builds on the total port network and tuning up the maritime traffic support system. It will expect to the efficiency through information network between ship to ship related pen operator. Building of information network for the E-Navigation, it is to build on the wireless internet infrastructure for the port logistics and traffic safety.

  • It is time to study safety improvement on container terminals to maintain a high-quality service to customers' productivity and safety. The data analyzed was of the past 3 years accidents data from a container terminal in the Busan port. I especially tried to found out the equipment that had the highest number of accidents and what the main causes were. This study suggests the top hazards identified in the container terminal using risk assessment, Moreover, it seeks control measurements to prevent hazards by bowtie methodology.

  • 초대형 컨테이너선 등장에 따라 항만물류 산업에 경쟁력을 높이기 위하여 첨단 정보통신 기술을 접목시켜 새로운 물류 혁명을 가져오기 위한 연구를 활발하게 진행하고 있다. 유비쿼터스 컨테이너터미널은 기존의 컨테이너터미널의 한계를 극복하고 항만물류 전체의 새로운 혁신을 가져올 것으로 예상된다. 우리나라에서는 유비쿼터스 환경을 구현하기 위하여 각종 시범 사업을 통하여 항만물류 산업에 도입하고 있으나 현실적인 개선과제 및 기술도입전략 등에 대한 연구부족으로 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 본 연구에서는 유비쿼터스 컨테이너터미널을 구현하기 위하여 무정차 자동화 게이트를 제시하고자 한다. 여러 가지 신기술을 컨테이너터미널의 게이트에 도입하여 단계별 무정차 자동화게이트의 유형을 제시하였다. 향후 본 연구는 유비쿼터스 컨테이너터미널을 도입하기 위한 성공 적인 가이드라인이 될 것이라 기대된다.

A Study on the Evaluation of Arctic Policy Priorities Using the CFPR Method-Focused on Policy of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (CFPR법을 활용한 북극정책 우선순위 평가에 관한 연구 -해양수산부 정책을 중심으로)

  • In the case of government policies related to the Arctic Ocean, there is a "Northern Sea activity promotion basic plan" presented by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, but it is difficult to adjust the timing of the policy enforcement and consider the importance of policies because no concrete order of enforcement of policies or weight has been presented by the government. In view of this, the purpose of this study was to estimate the priorities of the government's Arctic policies. Additionally, this study also presents priorities for "support measures" and "foreign cooperation measures" for the smooth implementation of Arctic policies. As for the methodology of this study, the CFPR (Consistent Fuzzy P reference Relations) method, which can comprehensively estimate expert opinions, was applied. According to the results of the analysis, the most important Arctic policy of the government was shown to be "Cooperation for Shipping and Logistics, such as Pioneering Northern Sea Routes" (0.087), followed by "Fostering Professional Manpower" (0.086), and "P reparing Institutional Foundation and Blueprint" (0.085). The results of this study have implications for the establishment of Arctic Ocean-related policies by policymakers as well as authorities.

In the developed system, RF wireless communication is used for remote control system, and ATMega128 is used as main controller.   • The export of the containers consists of two steps, carrying them into the container yard and, then, out to the ship. For the safety of the ship, the heavier container should be loaded at the lower part of the ship. Because of this, the container rehandling happens during carrying out to the ship, and the number of the rehandling container is an important factor for the loading and unloading capability. There has been many studies for utilizing the idle times after loading the containers in the container yard. This study suggests the method of decreasing the number of container rehandling by preprocessing the container using the information about the weight of the container. This method is the preprocessing one which can decrease, during carrying into the container yard, the number of container rehandling which can happen during carrying out to the ship, and, according to the simulation test, it showed to be more effective than other method.

  • As container traffic is increasing, the introduction of mega-vessel has had a significant impact on the ports and terminals business. This movement of container shipping has led to intensely competitive environment among ports, so substantial pressures to develop new container ports or to expand existing ones, have been grown. However, it requires a huge investment, especially cost and time, to overcome environmental, geographical and financial restrictions generated from developing a port. This study addressed the Mobile Harbor, the new concept of marine logistics system as an alternative strategy. We performed an economic analysis on the introduction of the Mobile Harbor in coastal transport sector and also a sensitivity analysis to examine the effects of changing factors related on the economic evaluation. We have examined the value and application of Mobile Harbor as a preliminary study, which may contribute to further studies on the Mobile Harbor.
