인산기를 함유한 Glycidylmethacrylate-Divinylbenzene 공중합체의 제조와 우라늄 흡착특성(제2보) - RGP수지에 대한 우라늄의 흡착평형과 흡착속도 - (Preparation of Glycidylmethacrylate-Divinylbenzene Copolymers Containing Phosphoric Acid Groups and Their Adsorption Characteristics of Uranium(II) - Adsorption Equilibrium and Kinetics of Uranium on RGP Resins -)

  • 가교도와 희석제량을 변화시켜 제조한 인산기를 갖는 MR형 양이온 교환수지(RGP)에 대하여 우라늄의 흡착평형, 흡착속도 및 흡착 율속 단계를 고찰하였다. RGP 수지에 대한 우라늄의 흡착 평형은 가교도, 희석제량 및 흡착온도 변화 모두 Freundlich 등온식과 Langmuir 등온식으로 잘 나타났다. RGP수지에 대한 우라늄의 흡착량과 흡착속도는 흡착 온도가 증가함에 따라 증가하였으며 이때 흡착열은 ${\Delta}H=11kcal/mol$ 이었다. RGP 수지에 대한우라늄의 흡착속도는 가교도의 영향인 경우 RGP-10(50)>RGP-1(50)>RGP-2(50)>RGP-5(50)RGP-0(50)>이며, 희석제량의 영향인 경우 RGP-2(75)>RGP-2(100)>RGP-2(50)>RGP-2(30)>RGP-2(0) 순으로 증가하였다. RGP수지에 대한 우라늄의 확산저항은 분자확산<세공확산<표면확산 순이었으며, 수지내의 우라늄의 확산 율속은 세공 확산보다 표면 확산이 율속이었다.

  • The drying shrinkage of concrete has a close relation to the water movement, Since the diffusion process of water in concrete is strongly dependent on the temperature and pore humidity, the process is highly nonlinear phenomena. It is shown that the analytical results of this study are in good agreement with experimental data in the literatures, and results calculated by BP-KX model. The internal stress caused by moisture distribution which was resulted from the diffusion process, was calculated quantitatively. The tensile stress which occurred in the drying outer zone mostly exceeded the tensile strength of concrete, and necessarily would result in crack formation.

  • The kinetic change of electrical resistance of hairless mouse skin as a function of ionic strength of the bathing medium was determined from impedance measurements. After increasing (decreasing) the ionic strength of the bathing medium, resistance decreased (increased) continuously with time, finally reaching an equilibrium value. We have modelled this process, using nonsteady-state diffusion kinetics. The results show semi-quantitative correlation between theoretically derived and experimentally obtained values. Overall, this work provides further mechanistic insight into ion-conduction through the skin.

플라즈마 중합된 고분자 복합막에서 기질의 기공크기가 기체투과 메카니즘에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Substrate Pore Size on Gas Permeation Mechanism in Composite Membrane by Plasma Polymerization)

  • 서로 다른 기공크기를 가진 $Al_2O_3$막을 기질로 사용하여 단량체인 $CHF_3$로 플라즈마 중합시키고, 플라즈마 중합된 막을 Ar 플라즈마로 처리하여 표면을 개질시켜 $O_2/N_2$에 대한 투과도와 선택도를 비교하여 그 특성을 검토하고 기질의 기공크기가 투과메카니즘에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 중합된 고분자 막을 cathode에 근접한 위치에서 Ar 플라즈마의 처리 시간과 rf-power 출력에 따라 표면 처리하였을 때 질소에 대한 산소의 선택도는 크게 향상된, 반면 투과도는 저하됨을 확인하였다. 또한 동일한 증착조건에서 서로 다른 기공크기를 갖는 기질에 플라즈마 중합시켰을 때, 증착된 비 다공성막인 고분자막에서는 동일하게 용해-확산 모델이 적용되나, 비 다공성층을 통과한 분자들은 Knudsen 확산모델에 의해 기질의 크기와 투과도와의 상관관계를 나타냈으며, 이로부터 투과메카니즘은 중합된 고분자막의 기능기와 기질의 기공크기에 지배적인 영향을 받음을 알 수 있었다.

Prediction of RC structure service life from field long term chloride diffusion

  • It is well-documented that the major deterioration of coastal RC structures is chloride-induced corrosion. Therefore, regional investigations are necessary for durability based design and evaluation of the proposed service life prdiction models. In this paper, four reinforced concrete jetties exposed to severe marine environment were monitored to assess the long term chloride penetration at 6 months to 96 months. Also, some accelerated durability tests were performed on standard samples in laboratory. As a result, two time-dependent equations are proposed for basic parameters of chloride diffusion into concrete and then the corrosion initiation time is estimated by a developed probabilistic service life model Also, two famous service life prediction models are compared using chloride profiles obtained from structures after about 40 years in the tidal exposure conditions. The results confirm that the influence of concrete quality on diffusion coefficients is related to the concrete pore structure and the time dependence is due to chemical reactions of sea water ions with hydration products which lead a reduction in pore structure. Also, proper attention to the durability properties of concrete may extend the service life of marine structures greater than fifty years, even in harsh environments.

토양/퇴적물에 주입한 과산화물에서 발생되는 산소 배출 (Oxygen Release from Peroxide Injected into Soil/Sediment)

  • Peroxide is used frequently to provide electron acceptors to aerobes for the purpose of in situ bioremediation of contaminated soil/sediment. In this study, oxygen release rate of peroxides and factors affecting on dissolution and diffusion of oxygen into pore water were evaluated. Peroxides studied in this study were magnesium peroxide ($MgO_2$), calcium peroxide ($CaO_2$), and sodium percarbonate ($Na_2CO_3{\cdot}1.5H_2O_2$). $Na_2CO_3{\cdot}1.5H_2O_2$ showed the highest oxygen release rate per unit mass and the shortest release duration time among three peroxides. A simple first-order decay model for predicting the release rate of oxygen from peroxide into pore water was presented and used to fit the experimental data. The first order oxygen release rate constants k for $MgO_2$, $CaO_2$ and $Na_2CO_3{\cdot}1.5H_2O_2$ were 0.45 /hr, 3.22 /hr and 134 /hr, respectively. If $MgO_2$ was mixed with clay, oxygen release rate was lowered significantly mainly due to limitation of contact area and diffusion, implying that oxygen can be provided to the indigenous aerobes for the extended period of time.

외부 및 내부 확산을 적용한 인도네시아 석탄촤의 연소 반응율 분석 (Reaction Rate Analysis of Combustion for Indonesian Coal Char Applied by External/Internal Diffusion)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 국내 화력발전소에서 사용중인 인도네시아 석탄촤의 연소반응율을 연구하는 것이다. 석탄촤의 반응율은 External, Internal effectiveness factor를 고려하여 입자 내부 및 외부확산을 정량적으로 정리하였으며, Random pore model을 사용하여 탄소변환율에 따른 입자내부비표면적의 변화를 반영하였다. 가열 및 측정이 가능한 WHR(Wire Heating Reactor)를 활용하여 반응시간을 측정함으로써 석탄촤의 반응율을 도출하였고 BET(Brunauer-Emmett-Teller) 및 TGA(Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis) 장비를 활용하여 석탄촤의 물리적인 특성인 내부비표면적과 Random pore model의 구조변수(${\Psi}$)를 측정하였다. 석탄 종에 따른 활성화에너지 및 빈도인자를 도출하기 위해 아역청탄인 BARAMULTI, ENERGYMAN, AGM탄을 사용하였다. 본 연구 결과에서 External, Internal effectiveness factors를 통해 확산에 따른 kinetics를 비교한 결과 외부 확산 보다 내부 확산의 영향이 지배적임을 확인하였다. 최종적으로 내부 및 외부 확산에 대한 영향을 고려한 3종의 석탄촤 Intrinsic kinetics의 활성화에너지는 110~118 kJ/mol의 값을 보였다.

활성탄(活性炭)을 이용(利用)한 Trihalomethane의 제거(除去)에 관한 연구(研究) (Removal of Trihalomethane Using Activated Carbon)

  • 본(本) 연구(硏究)는 정수처리과정(淨水處理過程)의 하나인 염소처리(鹽素處理) 결과(結果) 생성(生成)되는 trihalomethane을 활성탄(活性炭)을 사용(使用)하여 흡착제거(吸着除去)할 때의 특성(特性)을 검토(檢討)하기 위한 실험(實驗)으로 증류수에 chloroform을 첨가하여 만든 인공시료(人工試料)를 가지고 5가지의 서로 다른 pH-온도(溫度)에 대한 등온흡착실험(等溫吸着實驗)과 회분실험(回分實驗) 실시하였다. 등온흡착실험(等溫吸着實驗) 결과(結果) 평형온도(平衡溫度)와 흡착량(吸着量) 사이의 관계(關係)는 Freundlich 식(式)을 적용(適用)할 수 있었고 온도(溫度)가 낮을수록 흡착량(吸着量)은 증가(增加)하였으며 pH가 흡착(吸着)에 미치는 효과(效果)는 무시(無視)할만 하였다. 회분흡착실험결과(回分吸着實驗結果)와 이론적(理輪的)인 모형(模型)의 simulation 결과(結果)로부터 계수(係數)를 산정(算定)하였으며 세공확산(細孔擴散)은 표면확산(表面擴散)에 비해 훨씬 빠른 것으로 나타났다.

활성탄 고정층에 대한 Tharonil의 흡착특성에 관한 연구 (Study on Adsoption Characteristics of Tharonil on Activated Carbon Fixed Bed)

  • To obtain the breakthrough characteristics for the design of fixed bed adsorption plant, adsorption experiment on granular activated carbon was performed with tharonil in the fixed bed. The pore diffusivity and surface diffusivity of tharonil estimated by the concentration-time curve and adsorption isotherm were $D_s=2.825{\times}10^{-9}cm^2/s,\;D_p=1.26{\times}10^{-5}cm^2/s$, respectively. From comparison of the pore diffusivity and surface diffusivity, it was found that surface diffusion was controlling step for intrapaticle diffusion. The breakthrough curve predicted by constant pattern-linear driving force model were shown to agree with the experimental results. The surface diffusivity and film mass transfer coefficient had no effect on the theoretical breakthrough curve but the adsorption isotherm had fairly influence on it. Appearance time of breakthrough curve is faster with the increase flow rate and inflow concentration of liquid. The utility of granular activated carbon is enhanced with the increase of bed height and with the decrease of inflow rate.

Utilization of Cotton Stalks-Biomass Waste in the Production of Carbon Adsorbents by KOH Activation for Removal of Dye-Contaminated Water

  • Four activated carbons were produced by two-stage process as followings; semi-carbonization of indigenous biomass waste, i.e. cotton stalks, followed by chemical activation with KOH under various activation temperatures and chemical ratios of KOH to semi-carbonized cotton stalks (CCS). The surface area, total pore volume and average pore diameter were evaluated by $N_2$-adsorption at 77 K. The surface morphology and oxygen functional groups were determined by SEM and FTIR, respectively. Batch equilibrium and kinetic studies were carried out by using a basic dye, methylene blue as a probe molecule to evaluate the adsorption capacity and mechanism over the produced carbons. The obtained activated carbon (CCS-1K800) exhibited highly microporous structure with high surface area of 950 $m^2/g$, total pore volume of 0.423 $cm^3/g$ and average pore diameter of 17.8 ${\AA}$. The isotherm data fitted well to the Langmuir isotherm with monolayer adsorption capacity of 222 mg/g for CCS-1K800. The kinetic data obtained at different concentrations were analyzed using a pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order and intraparticle diffusion equations. The pseudo-second-order model fitted better for kinetic removal of MB dye. The results indicate that such laboratory carbons could be employed as low cost alternative to commercial carbons in wastewater treatment.
