  • This study presents an MSB(Most Significant Bit) Int multiplier using cellular automata, along with a new MSB first multiplication algorithm over GF($2^m$). The proposed architecture has the advantage of high regularity and a reduced latency based on combining the characteristics of a PBCA(Periodic Boundary Cellular Automata) and with the property of irreducible AOP(All One Polynomial). The proposed multiplier can be used in the effectual hardware design of exponentiation architecture for public-key cryptosystem.

  • In this paper, We represent a low complexity of parallel canonical basis multiplier for GF( q$^{n}$ ), ( q> 2). The Mastrovito multiplier is investigated and applied to multiplication in GF(q$^{n}$ ), GF(q$^{n}$ ) is different with GF(2$^{n}$ ), when MVL is applied to finite field. If q is larger than 2, inverse should be considered. Optimized irreducible polynomial can reduce number of operation. In this paper we describe a method for choosing optimized irreducible polynomial and modularizing recursive polynomial operation. A optimized irreducible polynomial is provided which perform modulo reduction with low complexity. As a result, multiplier for fields GF(q$^{n}$ ) with low gate counts. and low delays are constructed. The architectures are highly modular and thus well suited for VLSI implementation.

  • Efficient arithmetic design is essential to implement error correcting codes and cryptographic applications over finite fields. This article presents an efficient $AB^2$ multiplier in GF($2^m$) using a polynomial representation. The proposed multiplier produces the result in m clock cycles with a propagation delay of two AND gates and two XOR gates using O($2^m$) area-time complexity. The proposed multiplier is highly modular, and consists of regular blocks of AND and XOR logic gates. Especially, exponentiation, inversion, and division are more efficiently implemented by applying $AB^2$ multiplication repeatedly rather than AB multiplication. As compared to related works, the proposed multiplier has lower area-time complexity, computational delay, and execution time and is well suited to VLSI implementation.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient AB2 multiplication algorithm using SPB(shifted polynomial basis) over finite fields. Using the feature of the SPB, we split the equation for AB2 multiplication into two parts. The two partitioned equations are executable at the same time, and we derive an algorithm that processes them in parallel. Then we propose an efficient semi-systolic AB2 multiplier based on the proposed algorithm. The proposed multiplier has less area-time (AT) complexity than related multipliers. In detail, the proposed AB2 multiplier saves about 94%, 87%, 86% and 83% of the AT complexity of the multipliers of Wei, Wang-Guo, Kim-Lee, Choi-Lee, respectively. Therefore, the proposed multiplier is suitable for VLSI implementation and can be easily adopted as the basic building block for various applications.

  • Finite field multiplication and division are important arithmetic operation in error-correcting codes and cryptosystems. The elements of the finite field GF($2^m$) are represented by bases with a primitive polynomial of degree m over GF(2). We can be easily realized for multiplication or computing multiplicative inverse in GF($2^m$) based on a normal basis representation. The number of product terms of logic function determines a complexity of the Messay-Omura multiplier. A normal basis exists for every finite field. It is not easy to find the optimal normal element for a given primitive polynomial. In this paper, the generating method of normal basis is investigated. The normal bases whose product terms are less than other bases for multiplication in GF($2^m$) are found. For each primitive polynomial, a list of normal elements and number of product terms are presented.

  • The performance of elliptic curve based on public key cryptosystems is mainly appointed by the efficiency of the underlying finite field arithmetic. This work describes a finite field multiplier and divider which is implemented using SystemC. Also this present an efficient hardware for performing the elliptic curve point multiplication using the polynomial basis representation. In order to improve the speed of the multiplier with as a little extra hardware as possible, adopted hybrid finite field multiplication and finite field divider.

  • The important arithmetic operations over finite fields include multiplication and exponentiation. An exponentiation operation can be implemented using a series of squaring and multiplication operations over GF($2^m$) using the binary method. Hence, it is important to develop a fast algorithm and efficient hardware for multiplication. This paper presents an efficient bit-serial systolic array for MSB-first multiplication in GF($2^m$) based on the polynomial representation. As compared to the related multipliers, the proposed systolic multiplier gains advantages in terms of input-pin and area-time complexity. Furthermore, it has regularity, modularity, and unidirectional data flow, and thus is well suited to VLSI implementation.

  • In this paper we propose the Modified Karatsuba-Ofman algorithm for polynomial multiplication to polynomials of arbitrary degree. Leone proposed optimal stop condition for iteration of Karatsuba-Ofman algorithm(KO). In this paper, we propose a Non-Redundant Karatsuba-Ofman algorithm (NRKOA) with removing redundancy operations, and design a parallel hardware architecture based on the proposed algorithm. Comparing with existing related Karatsuba architectures with the same time complexity, the proposed architecture reduces the area complexity. Furthermore, the space complexity of the proposed multiplier is reduced by 43% in the best case.

  • This paper propose the method of constructing the highly efficiency adder and multiplier systems over finite fields. The addition arithmetic operation over finite field is simple comparatively because that addition arithmetic operation is analyzed by each digit modP summation independently. But in case of multiplication arithmetic operation, we generate maximum k=2m-2 degree of ${\alpha}^k$ terms, therefore we decrease k into m-1 degree using irreducible primitive polynomial. We propose two method of control signal generation for the purpose of performing above decrease process. One method is the combinational logic expression and the other method is universal signal generation. The proposed method of constructing the highly adder/multiplier systems is as following. First of all, we obtain algorithms for addition and multiplication arithmetic operation based on the mathematical properties over finite fields, next we construct basic cell of A-cell and M-cell using T-gate and modP cyclic gate. Finally we construct adder module and multiplier module over finite fields after synthesizing ${\alpha}^k$ generation module and control signal CSt generation module with A-cell and M-cell. Next, we constructing the arithmetic operation unit over finite fields. Then, we propose the future research and prospects.
