Preparation of Hybrid Proton Conductor by Sol-Gel Process from Nafion Solution

  • Proton-conducting hybrid materials composed of silica and Nafion polymer were prepared from the sol-gel synthesis of silica in aqueous Nafion solution. The compositions of hybrid proton conductors were adjusted with the changing ratios of tetraethyl orthosilicate to Nafion. The thermal analysis, FTIR, SEM, and X-ray diffraction studies have proved the formation of Nafion/silica hybrid materials and no remarkable phase separation was observed, which led to an assumption that the macromolecular chain of silica and Nafion was homogeneously interlaned.

  • 본 연구에서는 용탈 저감 효과가 있는 합성폴리머 실리카졸의 그라우트 성능을 평가하고, 기존 물유리계 SGR 주입재와 비교한 내용을 다루었다. 강도 및 내구성에 대한 실내실험 결과 합성폴리머 실리카졸는 물유리계 주입재 대비 2배 이상 높은 일축압축강도, 수축률 및 투수성에서 현저히 낮은 값을 보여주었고, pH는 먹는 물 수질기준인 8.5 이하였다. 용탈시험결과 합성폴리머 실리카졸의 Na2O 용출량은 물유리계 주입재 대비 3~4배 작게 측정되었다. 이러한 결과로 보아 합성폴리머 실리카졸은 기존 물유리계 주입재보다 더 우수한 내구성 및 차수성을 가지는 것으로 판단된다.

  • The (0.8PPV+0.2DMPPV) copolymer and silica/borosilicate composites were synthesized by sol-gel process. The organic-inorganic hybrid solution was prepared by using of (0.8PPV+0.2DMPPV) copolymer precursor solution as a raw material for organic components and TEOS and TMB for glass components. Then by drying the solution in vacuum at 5$0^{\circ}C$ for 7days and subsequent heat treatment in vacuum at 15$0^{\circ}C$~30$0^{\circ}C$ for 2h~72h with heating rate of 0.2$^{\circ}C$/min and 1.8$^{\circ}C$/min, the organic-inorganic composites were synthesized. Microstructural evolution of the composites was characterized by DSC, IR spectrocopy, UV/VIS spectroscopy, and TEM. Elimination of the polymer precursor and degradation of the polymer were observed by DSC and Si-O and trans C=C absorption peaks were identified by IR spectra. The polymer was found to be successfully incorporated into the glass matrix and it was confirmed by the absorption peaks from the polymer in the UV/VIS spectra and the TEM results. The absorption peak of the composites was found to shift toward short wavelength side compared to that of the pure polymer and the amount of the blue shift increased with increasing the heat treatment temperature and heat treatment time and with decreasing the heating rate.

Continuous Nanocomposite Coatings on a Phosphor for the Enhancement of the Long-term Stability

  • [ $Y_{2}O_{2}S:Eu$ ], a red phosphor, coated with silica nanoparticles or nanocomposites composed of silica nanoparticles and polymeric materials such as PMMA and PVP was prepared via sol-gel process. Samples were prepared from four different methods coded P1, P2, P3, and P4. P1 includes a conventional sol-gel process and a dip-coating method while P2 has the same procedure with P1 except that nanocomposites containing both silica nanoparticles and polymer prepared by sol-gel process were used as coating materials. In P3 method, phosphors were dispersed in a solution containing silica precursor, i.e., TEOS and then polymerization was performed to coat onto the phosphors surface while P4 followed the same procedure with P3 except that a solution containing both TEOS and organic monomer were used in preparing coating materials. Among various coating methods examined in this study, uniform coating of phosphor could be achieved by using method P4, i.e., phosphor surface coating in a solution containing hydrophobic monomer and TEOS. Furthermore, $Y_{2}O_{2}S:Eu$ red phosphor coated with nanocomposite composed of PMMA matrix and silica nanoparticles exhibited enhanced PL intensity and long-term stability.

  • Biphenyltetracarboximide-phenylene diamine polyimide/silica-titania ternary hybrid composites were Prepared by thermal imidization and sol-gel reaction. Fluorescence spectroscopic, scanning electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy studies revealed that the addition of small amount of titania showed profound effects on the microstructure and photophysical behaviors of polyimide/silica hybrid composites, when the content of silica-titania mixture was small or when the ratio of silica to titania in the mixture was high.

  • The new PEI(poly(epoxy-imide))-nano Silica film has been synthesized via in situ CS sol process, and the chemical bonding and microstructure of nano silica dispersed in resin were examined by FT-IR, TAG and SEM. The dielectric properties of these hybrid films over a given temperature and frequency ranges have been studied in a point of view of stable chemical bonding of nano Silica filler. The results from IR spectra and SEM photograph indicated that PEI-Silica hybrid film prepared with nano CS sol process has been synthesized in uniform and chemical bonding. The decrease property of dielectric constant with CS content, tangent loss consistent of given frequency and temperature has been explained in terms of the chain movement of polymer through chemical bonging and size effect of nano silica. The new PEI-CS sol hybrid film with such stable chemical and dielectric properties was expected to be used as a high functional coating application in ET, IT and electric power products.

  • 졸-젤법을 이용한 실리카를 지방족 폴리에스테르 주사슬에 가교구조로 도입한 하이브리드 복합재료를 합성하여 열전소자의 버퍼코트층으로의 적용가능성을 검토하였다. 고분자 기지로 사용된 폴리에스테르는 $240^{\circ}C$의 고온에서 열처리 시간에 따라 $30{\sim}90^{\circ}C$ 정도 열분해개시 온도가 증가하였고, 폴리에스테르-실리카 복합재료는 실리카의 첨가 비율에 따라 $30{\sim}50^{\circ}C$ 정도 열분해 개시온도가 증가하였다. 폴리에스테르-실리카 복합재료는 실리카가 Knoevenagel 축합반응을 방해하는 요소로 작용하여 폴리에스테르에 비해 열처리후에도 변색이 일어나지 않았고, 광학특성 변화가 작았다. 이들 복합재료의 열전도도는 실리카의 첨가량에 따라 선형적으로 증대되었다.

PFOA Free 불소 고분자 및 실리카 나노졸을 이용한 self cleaning 표면 가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Self-cleaning Surface Finishing Using PFOA Free Fluoric Polymer and Silica Nano-sol)

  • Super-hydrophobic surface, with a water contact angle greater than $150^{\circ}$, has a self cleaning effect termed 'lotus effect'. We introduced super-hydrophobicity onto aramid/rayon mixture fabric with dual-scale structure by assembling silica nano-sol. Mixture fabric was treated with silica nano-sol, fluoric polymer using various parameters such as particle size, concentration. Silica nano-sol size were measured using particle size analyzer. Morphological changes by particle size were observed using field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM), contact angle measurement equipment. The contact angle of water was about $134.0^{\circ}$, $137.0^{\circ}$, $143.0^{\circ}$, $139.5^{\circ}$ and $139.0^{\circ}$ for mixture fabric coated with 100.2nm, 313.7nm, 558.2nm, 628.5nm and 965.4nm silica nano-sol, compared with about $120.0^{\circ}$ for mixture fabric coated with fluoric polymer. When we mixed particle sizes of 100.2nm and 558.2nm by 7:3 volume ratio, the contact angle of water was about $146.2^{\circ}$. And we mixed particle sizes of 313.7nm and 558.2nm by 7:3 volume ratio, the contact angle of water was about $141.8^{\circ}$. Also we mixed particle sizes of 558.2nm and 965.4nm by 7:3 volume ratio, the best super-hydrophobicity was obtained. In this paper, we fabricated the water-repellent surfaces with various surface structures by using four types of silica nano-sol, and we found that the dual-scale structure was very important for the super-hydrophobicity.

SPEEK/PWA/Silica 복합막의 전기화학적 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Electrochemical Properties of SPEEK/PWA/Silica Composite Membranes)

  • SPEEK/PWA/silica 전해질 복합막을 제조하기 위하여 졸-겔 방법을 이용하였다. 졸-겔반응의 전구체로는 TEOS를 사용하였으며 첨가제 겸 촉매로는 phosphotungstic acid(PWA)를 사용하였다. FE-SEM 분석을 통하여 PWA 및 silica 나노입자들은 고분자속으로 균일하게 분산되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. SPEEK/PWA/silica 복합막의 함수율은 TEOS의 비율이 낮은 경우에는 TEOS의 증가에 따라 함수율이 감소하였지만 TEOS의 비율이 높은 경우에는 TEOS의 영향을 적게 받았다. SPEEK/PWA/silica 복합막의 이온전도도는 함수율의 변화와 유사한 경향을 나타내었으며 TEOS의 비율이 증가함에 따라 처음에는 이온전도도가 감소하다가 다시 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. SPEEK/PWA/silica 복합막의 메탄올 투과도는 TEOS의 농도가 증가함에 따라 투과도가 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다.

졸-겔 공정으로 제조한 나노 실리카의 표면개질 및 가스차단성 필름으로의 응용 (Surface Modification of Nano Silica Prepared by Sol-gel Process and Subsequent Application towards Gas-barrier Films)

  • 실리카 표면의 개질을 위하여 다양한 조건 하에서 tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS)로부터 졸-겔 공법으로 제조한 실리카 졸에 실란 커플링제인 octyltrimethoxysilane (OTMS) 또는 hexadecyltrimethoxysilane (HDTMS)을 반응시켰다. 얻어진 반응물들의 SEM-EDS, 열분석 및 원소분석을 통하여 실리카의 표면이 유기물로 개질된 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 유기용매에서의 분산성 및 에폭시 수지와 복합화한 필름의 표면 조도 등을 평가한 결과, 에탄올을 용매로 사용하여 $50^{\circ}C$에서 TEOS를 24 h 가수분해하고, OTMS를 2 h 반응시킨 물질이 최적으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 표면 개질 실리카를 포함하는 복합체 필름의 산소 투과도를 측정한 결과, 개질 실리카를 포함하지 않는 필름에 비하여 산소 투과도가 12% 저하된 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
