  • In this paper, to improve bandwidth amplitude fluctuation for the broadband signal in indoor propagation environment, we measured and analyzed broadband signal using a vertically polarized, horizontally polarized and circularly polarized antenna, conducting by frequency sweeping method in NLOS (Non-Line-of-Sight) environment. And, to investigate the optimum condition for the improvement of broadband propagation characteristics we also examined the effects of both human motions and transmission antenna height in the NLOS environment. As a result, in the case of NLOS environment, it was found that the amplitude deviation characteristics in frequency bandwidth can be improved by polarization diversity reception. Especially, we found that it is the best effective one to make polarization diversity reception branches, which install the circularly polarized antenna at transmitting end and install the polarized diversity branches received vertical or/and horizontal polarized wave at receiving end. The affection of a human motions is not so much in LOS and NLOS environment, but it can lead to the cause of burst error in indoor digital radio communications as the fade of signal strength become more deeper. And also, when raise the transmitting antenna up to the ceiling, the LOS and NLOS environment could be coexisted. In this case, it can be also inferred that frequency bandwidth amplitude deviation must be fundamentally improved by using polarization diversity reception technique to make the possibility of high transmission rate.

  • In this paper, we proposed the broadband polarization diversity antenna operating in the PCS, WCDMA and WiBro band for mobile base station. We designed the antenna using the dipole antenna of the square loop type and microstrip feeding structure. Additionally, we used the choke box to remove the distortion of radiation patterns by the reflector structure when operating broadband. The simulation was performed using MWS in a commercial tool of CST company and the antenna was fabricated on a teflon substrate with 3.33 of the relative permittivity. The proposed antenna has the bandwidth of 640 MHz(from 1.75 to 2.39 GHz) when VSWR is below 1.5. At the operating bands, the interisolation between the cross-pair radiators is less than -25 dB and the maximum gains for PCS, WCDMA and WiBro band are 8.9, 8.2 and 8.6 dBi, respectively.

  • This paper describes a compact microstrip active antenna with dual polarization. The antenna, receiving both a left-hand circularly polarized wave and a right-hand circularly polarized wave, has a function of polarization diversity. A square-shaped empty room is located on the inside of the microstrip radiator so that the size has been reduced. And slots are added around feeding point to improve input matching. Also, amplifier and switching circuitry are placed at the empty room to increase antenna gain and to select one of the circular polarizations, respectively. The proposed antenna has been applied to GPS(global positioning system). The measurement results show that it has 10dB-impedance bandwidth, 3dB axial bandwidth of about 50MHz, 3dB beamwidth of 90degree, and gain of 13dBi, respectively, for RHCP. Also, it has 3dB axial bandwidth of about 50MHz, 3dB beamwidth of 84 degree, and gain of 12dBi, respectively, for LHCP.

  • Diversity and flexibility are two typical hallmarks of macrophages. Two types of macrophages, M1(classically activated macrophages) and M2(alternatively activated macrophages) exist at both ends of the commonly known macrophage polarization. M1 macrophages have inflammatory properties and are primarily responsible for defending against invading bacteria in our body. On the other hand, M2 macrophages are involved in anti-inflammatory responses and tissue remodeling. Polarized migration of macrophages is of increasing interest in regulating the initiation, generation, and resting phases of inflammatory diseases. In this review, it intend to discuss the properties and functions of tumor-associated macrophages based on polarized macrophages that affect inflammatory diseases. In addition, the purpose of this study is to investigate a molecular imaging approach that targets macrophages that affect tumor growth by controlling the polarization of macrophages that affect tumor diagnosis and treatment.

  • In this paper, a single-feed equilateral-triangular microstrip antenna with truncated corners is used for achieving diverse radiation polarization. The proposed antenna is excited by a microstrip line, which is place parallel to an oblique side of the equilateral-triangular patch. Depending on whether the three identically-sized comers of the triangular patch are cut or not, the equilateral-triangular microstrip antenna shows linear polarization(LP) or left-hand circular polarization(LHCP) or Tight-hand circular polarization(RHCP). Based on the equilateral-triangular microstrip antenna with truncated corners, a novel reconfigurable microstrip antenna with switchable polarization sense is also proposed. The proposed reconfigurable antenna has a simple structure, consisting of a corner-truncated triangular patch, a small triangular conductor, and a microstrip line. Using a biased PIN diode between the patch and the small triangular conductor, it can produce LP or RHCP according to bias voltages. From the measured results, low cross polarization level when operated in the linear state and good axial ratio in the circular state are observed.

  • In this paper, a slot-coupled microstrip antenna with switchable polarization is proposed for the polarization diversity applications in the complicated communication environment. The proposed antenna is fed by a microstrip line through one of two slots located with the interval of $\lambda{g}/4$ in the ground plane. By switching the PIN diode between opened and shorted termination which is located at the tip of the microstrip line, the switching function between horizontal and vertical polarization was confirmed experimentally. The measured resonant frequencies of the fabricated antenna are $2.41\;\cal{GHz}\;2.40\;\cal{GHz}$ and the cross polarization levels are $19\;\cal{dB},\;23\;\cal{dB},\;the\;-10\;\cal{dB}$ return loss bandwidths are $95\;\cal{MHz}\;100\;\cal{MHz}$ in horizontal and vertical polarization, respectively, and the antenna gain is almost $6\;\cal{dBi}$.

  • In this letter, a new dual-port Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) antenna is introduced which has two independent signal feeding ports in a single antenna element to achieve smaller antenna volumes for the 5G mobile applications. The dual-port structure is implemented by adding a cross coupled semi-loop (CCSL) antenna as the secondary radiator to the ground short of inverted-F antenna (IFA). It is found that the port to port isolation is not deteriorated when an IFA and CCSL is combined to form a dual-port structure. The isolation property of the proposed antenna is compared with a polarization diversity based dual-port antenna proposed in the literature [9]. The operating frequency range is 3.3-4.0 GHz which is suitable for places where $4{\times}4$ MIMO systems are supposed to be deployed such as in China, EU, Korea and Japan at the band ${\times}$ (3.3 - 3.8GHz. The measured 6-dB impedance bandwidths of the proposed antennas are larger than 700 MHz with isolation between the feeding ports higher than 18 dB [1-2]. The simulation and measurement results show that the proposed antenna concept is a very promising alternative for 5G mobile applications.

  • This paper proposes four-ring slot resonator-based MIMO antennas of 75×150 mm2 without and with CSRR structures in the sub-6-GHz range. These orthogonal-fed antennas have shown diverse characteristics with dual polarization. L-shaped parasitic structures have increased the isolation (i.e., >40 dB) in the single-element antenna over the band of 3.4 GHz-3.8 GHz. A set of three CSRR structures in the MIMO antenna reduced the coupling between antenna ports placed in an inline arrangement and enhanced the isolation from 12 dB to 20 dB and the diversity characteristics. The S-parameters of both MIMO antennas are measured and used to evaluate MIMO parameters like ECC, TARC, MEG, and channel capacity loss. The simulation results show the variations in the gain and directivity on exciting linear and dual polarizations. The diversity performance of the reported MIMO antennas is suitable for 5G applications.

  • Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) System makes the telecommunication possible between the Beacon and the On Board Unit(OBU) for automatic toll collection. In this paper, the propagation path of microwave is modelled and the induced voltage of receiving antenna is analyzed numerically according to multi-path fading effect. In our modelling, we consider frequency, weather condition, polarization and antenna radiation pattern. Also, we suggest the diversity technique in order to reduce the fading effect. In the resuts, the fading effect is reduced significantly in case of the vertical polarization at the rain condition. In general the circular polarization is the most desirable in this application. The antenna which has the high directivity, is also desirable. Using the space and frequency diversity technique at the Beacon, the fading effect is reduced effectively. These results are compared with our experimental data.
