  • The structure of A matrix of one machine connected to the infinite bus is described for a full model. The A matrix can be partitioned to submatrices which depend on the initial operating point and do not depend on it. When the dynamic properties for several different operating points are desired, those submatrices can be obtained through simple column operation. Furthermore, the elements of A matrix can be directly calculated from the manufacturer's data. RMS quantities of the state variables for the initial operating point are used. This approach can save the labor for calculating the elements of A matrix for the dynamic stability analysis.

  • In this paper, a novel dynamic available transfer capability (DATC) has been computed for real time applications using three different intelligent techniques viz. i) back propagation algorithm (BPA), ii) radial basis function (RBF), and iii) adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) for the first time. The conventional method of DATC is tedious and time consuming. DATC is concerned with calculating the maximum increase in point to point transfer such that the transient response remains stable and viable. The ATC information is to be continuously updated in real time and made available to market participants through an internet based Open Access Same time Information System (OASIS). The independent system operator (ISO) evaluates the transaction in real time on the basis of DATC information. The dynamic contingency screening method [1] has been utilized and critical contingencies are selected for the computation of DATC using the energy function based potential energy boundary surface (PEBS) method. The PEBS based DATC has been utilized to generate patterns for the intelligent techniques. The three different intelligent methods are tested on New England 68-bus 16 machine and 39-bus 10 machine systems and results are compared with the conventional PEBS method.

  • Wireless networks have become integral to society as they provide mobility and scalability advantages. However, their disadvantage is that they cannot control the media, which makes them vulnerable to various types of attacks. One example of such attacks is the evil twin access point (AP) attack, in which an authorized AP is impersonated by mimicking its service set identifier (SSID) and media access control (MAC) address. Evil twin APs are a major source of deception in wireless networks, facilitating message forgery and eavesdropping. Hence, it is necessary to detect them rapidly. To this end, numerous methods using clock skew have been proposed for evil twin AP detection. However, clock skew is difficult to calculate precisely because wireless networks are vulnerable to noise. This paper proposes an evil twin AP detection method that uses a multiple-feature-based machine learning classification algorithm. The features used in the proposed method are clock skew, channel, received signal strength, and duration. The results of experiments conducted indicate that the proposed method has an evil twin AP detection accuracy of 100% using the random forest algorithm.

  • This paper is about the development of automatic FPC(flexible printed circuit) punching instrument for the improvement of working condition and cost saving. FPC is used to detect the contact position of keyboard and button like a cellular phone. Depending on the quality of the printed ink and position of reference punching point to the FPC, the resistance and current are varied to the malfunctioning values. The size of reference punching point is 2mm and the above. Because the punching operation Is done manually, the accuracy of the punching degree is varied with operator's condition. To improve this manual punch ing operation to the FPC, automatic FPC punching system is introduced. Test algorithms and programs showed good results to the designed automatic punching system and led to the increasement of productivity and huge cost down to law material like FPC by avoiding bad quality.

  • As a forming method for curved hull plates more efficient than the flame bending, mechanical bending using multi point press forming and die-less forming is discussed in this paper. the mechanical forming is a flexible manufacturing system for automatically forming of hull parts. It is especially suited to varied curved parts. This paper discusses a multiple point pressing machine composed of a pair of reconfigurable punches in order to achieve the rapid forming of curved hull plates using division forming and presents how forming information is obtained from the given design surface. Although the mechanical forming can be efficient in the metal forming, spring back after pressing is a phenomenon which must be carefully considered when quantifying the process variables. If the spring back is not accurately controlled, the fabricated shell plate cannot meet assembly tolerance. This paper describes the principles to calculate the proper stroke of each punch at the divided areas. the strokes are determined by an iterative process of sequential pressing and spring back compensation from an unfolded flat shape to its given design surface. FEA(finite element analysis) is used to simulate the spring back of the plate and the IDA(iterative displacement adjustment) method adjusts the offset of pressing punches from the deformation results and the design surface. The shape deviations of two surfaces due to spring back are compensated by integrated system using FEA and IDA method. For the practical application, It is aimed to develop an integrated system that can automatically perform the compensation process and calculate strokes of punches of the double sides' reconfigurable multiple-press machine and some experimental results obtained with mechanical bending are presented.

  • In order to estimate the maximum undeformed chip thickness in grinding operation, it is necessary to obtain the successive cutting point spacing. In the past it was obtained by experiments. In this paper, the average successive cutting point spacing has been obtained using the given grinding input conditions and it is possible to estimate the maximum undeformed chip thickness without using any experimentally obtained data. The validity of the proposed analysis has been verified based on two sets of grinding scratch tests using WA and CBN grinding wheels.

  • Cold weather concrete presents the many characteristic variation of quality, according to the mixing and cooling point, the cooling time and the quantity of air besides the compressive strength of concrete. Thus, in this study to verify the character of cold-weather concrete we make the concrete specimens at laboratory and cool them at cooling-melting machine and then test the 7days compressive strength of them, with the variation of compressive strength of concrete, cooling point, cooling time, cooling weather and air quantity. At the results, the compressive strength of concrete decrease in the case of early cooling point, long cooling time, low cooling temperature and the low design compressive strength

  • The fracture toughness of a hot rolled 100 mm thick SS41 steel plate was investigated for various crack ratios and thichnesses using the method of J-integral. The experiments were performed on an MTS machine and the crack initiation point was detected by using an electricl impedance method. The J-integral computed at the initiation point of the slow stable crack growth was almost constant within the range of crack ratios tested. The fracture toughness thus obtained was $J_{1c}/=27.0kgf/mm$ for specimens having fracture plane parallel to the rolling direction and 35.5kgf/mm for those perpendicular to the rolling direction. The J- integral computed at maximum load point was found to be unsuitable for fracture toughness determination, becaese of large variation depending on the crack ratio and thickness. It was also found that the slow stable crack growth increases as the thickness and/or crack ration of the specimen decrease.

  • In this paper, the dynamic stability of a hydraulic excavator using ZMP concept is considered. When a load is moved in an excavator based on automation, an excavator often loses the stability and falls over. This is because a dynamic element is not included in the moment equilibrium equation that is used in order to judge a reversal. Consequently, reversal distinction algorithm including all a static and a dynamic element along a load movement in crane work is necessary. Zero Moment Point(ZMP) is a point on the floor where the resultant moment of the gravity, the inertial force of the manipulator and the external force is zero. This study is going to interpret the reversal stability of the excavator to which is applied ZMP concept through simulation.

  • This paper deals with the process which automatically straightens the shaft whose straightness is over the tolerance. The developed straightening process is composed of the measuring module and the control module. In the measuring module, the deflection of each measuring point is automatically measured, and the press point and the reference press stroke is determined. In the control module, the springback is predicted by the observer using the calculated reference press stroke and on-line-measured force and deflection. Through a series of experiments, the validity of the proposed process was verified.
