가로수 조성 유형에 따른 비용편익 비교 분석 (Cost-Benefit Analysis for Planting Type of Street Trees)

  • The objective of this study is to estimate the cost and benefits of street trees for their planting types, specifically, single row, single row+bottom, double row, double row+bottom. Different planting types are compared and analyzed by using Net Present Value (NPV) and benefit-cost ratio (BCR). Existing data are collected from the literature reviews for the use of meta-analysis method for estimating cost and benefit. The elements for analyzing costs are management and planting costs, and benefits are air purification, energy saving and landscape view. The discount rate is applied at a minimum of 3% and a maximum of 5.5%. The unit used in this calculation is km/year. The result shows that the net benefit is highest in double row, followed by single row, double row+bottom, and single row+bottom. The BCR is the highest in double row, followed by single row, double row+bottom, and single row+bottom. The BCR reaches the break-even point from 9 to 17 years depending on the planting types.

  • Planting models for restoration forest on the seaside have been demanded because coastal reclaimed land has increased for habitation sites, industrial complexes and new towns on the west seaside of Korea. The planting models have to consider endurance for bad environmental conditions in order to make a role to protect the urban space against the extreme seaside environment. The dominant species, relative impotance value, individuals and species number were analysed in natural forests that were exposed to extreme seaside conditions in Deokjeok island and Younghung island, Incheon. The native species such as Pinus thunbergii and Pinus densiflora, which survive on the seaside, were mainly recommended because the coastal reclaimed land had extreme environmental conditions. Stable vegetation structures could be made by multi-layer planing by using these species. A diverse vegetation community could be made according to these planting models. The maritime forests made by these planting models might be more effective for environmental adaptation and a windbreak forest than alone tree, and the young trees below 3m height could easily adapt to these conditions.

조경공사 표준시방서 변화특성과 개선방향 연구 - 식재공사를 중심으로 - (A Study on Improvement and Change Properties of Landscape Construction Standard Specification - Focused on Planting -)

  • 본 연구는 조경공사 표준시방서 식재공사의 분류체계, 기술방식, 품질기준의 개정시기별 변화특성을 분석하고, 국외 사례와의 비교를 통하여 개선방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 이에 본 연구의 결과 및 제언은 다음과 같다. 1. 개정을 통해 다양한 세부공종이 신설 수정되었으나 상 하위분류가 맞지 않아 시방내용이 상충되고 있으므로 비슷한 공사끼리의 재분류가 필요하다. 2. 시방서 내용을 용이하게 전달하기 위한 기술방식으로 수정이 이루어졌다. 그러나 구체성이 떨어지는 애매모호한 표현과 용어로 유지되고 있는 굴취시 뿌리분의 깊이, 지주재 강도에 관한 내용은 수정이 필요하다. 또한 표토의 채취시기, 약제 살포시기 등은 계량화될 필요가 있으며, 시방규정의 공정성을 고려하여 감독자의 지시에 따르도록 작성된 기준은 수정되어야 한다. 3. 시대적 패러다임과 사용자의 요구를 반영한 품질기준이 제 개정되었으나 구체적이지 않아 수정이 필요하며, 관련 기준들의 국외 사례를 참고하여 수목재료의 품질수준, 식재적기, 굴취시 뿌리분의 크기, 성능기준 등을 개선해야 한다. 개정을 통해 식재공사의 세부공종별 재료 및 시공방법에 대한 내용은 갖춰졌다. 그러나 구체성이 떨어지고 명확하지 않은 기준들로 시방서의 현장 활용을 저해하고 있다. 이에 표준시방서의 분류체계, 기술방식, 품질기준의 문제점 도출과 개선방향의 제시가 필요하며, 이는 향후 표준시방서 개정시 참고자료가 될 수 있다.

도시공원 생태적 배식의 조성 단계별 문제점 고찰 및 개선방안 -서울시 여의도공원 자연생태의 숲을 사례로- (Problem Analysis and Suggestion for Improved Approaches to Ecological Planting and the Establishment of Urban Parks -A Case Study of the Nature Ecological Forest in Yeouido Park, Seoul-)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내 현실을 고려한 도시공원의 생태적 배식기법을 마련하기 위해 여의도공원 자연생태의 숲의 조성단계별 문제점과 원인을 고찰하여 개선방안을 제시하였다. 실시설계단계에서는 가장 중요한 배식모델과 도면작성이 불명확하게 제시되었고, 식재수량 및 규격이 비현실적이었다. 시공단계에서는 설계도면과 다른 유사수종 및 다른 규격의 수목이 식재되었고, 목표군락에 따른 토양환경 기반 조성이 이루어지지 못해 생태적 배식에 한계가 있었다. 관리단계에서는 하자보식 처리가 미흡하고, 하자보수 담보기간 이후의 관리대책이 부재하였다. 도시공원 생태숲 조성을 위한 단계별 개선방안을 제시하였다. 실시설계단계에서는 반드시 목표 배식모델을 고려하여 교목층, 아교목층, 관목층별 식재도면을 작성해야 하고, 수목 자원조사결과를 통해 현실적으로 가능한 식재종 및 규격을 제시해야 한다. 시공단계에서는 이식대상 수목에 인식표를 부착하여 적정한 식재종 및 규격으로 식재가 이루어져야 하며, 수종 변경시 식재모델에 적합한지를 검토하도록 시방서에 명기하고, 규격 변경시 실제규격으로 준공처리를 하고, 목표모델에 적합한 토양이 유입될 수 있도록 반입 토양의 의무적인 분석이 필요하다. 관리단계에서는 관급수목에 대한 하자처리를 위해 설계시 일정 할증율을 반영하고, 하자보수 담보기간을 2년에서 5년으로 확대하며, 시간변화에 따른 목표군락별 변화과정을 관찰할 수 있도록 준공후 5년 동안 모니터링 의무화 등이 필요하다.

학교숲의 식재현황 및 인식 분석 -경상북도 지역을 대상으로- (An Analysis of Planting Status and Awareness on School Forest)

  • The purpose of this study is to establish the strategic direction of school forest based on the analysis of planting species and status and environmental consciousness of students on 9 elementary schools in Gyeongsangbuk-Do. According to the results of analysis of planting status, the green space area of Ahwa elementary school was increased as $2,300m^2$ and the green space area of most schools was increased more than $500m^2$ by the construction of school forest. The planting species were surveyed as 109 species in total and the deciduous broad-leaf trees and herbaceous plants were identified by each 29 species. As a result of analysis of elementary school students' awareness on school forest using surveys, the ratio of students that know school forests is 58.9% and the ratio of participation is 20.7%, that is very low. Finally, in the direction for the desirable construction of school forest, the students evaluated by preferring the evergreen broad-leaved trees, flowering trees and fruit trees and they required the development of teaching materials and program and the quantitative increase of forest.

생태공원조성을 위한 식재설계방법의 개발 -시각적 선호도와 생태적 다양성의 상호관련성을 중심으로- (A Study on the Development of Planting Design Method for Creating an Ecological Park -Focus on a Correlation between Visual Preference and Ecological Diversity-)

  • This study seeks to find an approach tool that allows to consider both ecological and visual aspect in developing an ecological space. Main objective of this study is to develop a planting design method in consideration of correlation between high visual preference and ecological diversity. To this end, an integrated method based on visual design principles and landscape ecological principles was developed first. Then study areas of 20 natural areas and 10 urban areas were selected to survey and analyze visual preference and ecological diversity. The result showed that scale is an element that has the greatest impact on visual preference. In areas with high ecological diversity, scale and connectivity had the biggest impact. In order to have a planting design desirable visually and ecologically based on these factors, it may be divided into following three issues.(1) In oder to increase ecological diversity in areas with strong visual preference, a priority should be given to introduce techniques promoting harmony among dominant species of various scales and other species. At the same time, there should be efforts to secure connectivity. (2) To improve visual preferences in areas with high ecological diversity, close-range, medium-range, and distant landscapes should be ensured by aligning colors and connectivity of various scales with other factors. (3) Also, a target area should be developed into a visually preferred and ecologically sound area by supplementing form and interlocking issues and identifying the spirit of the place. This study offers a way to improve visual preference and promote ecological diversity indeveloping ecological parks for the future. In landscape planning and design, it is important to secure various scales and connectivity as high-priority principles.

Improvement of the Planting Method to Increase the Carbon Reduction Capacity of Urban Street Trees

  • Background and objective: Urban street trees play an important role in carbon reduction in cities where greenspace is scarce. There are ongoing studies on carbon reduction by street trees. However, information on the carbon reduction capacity of street trees based on field surveys is still limited. This study aimed to quantify carbon uptake and storage by urban street trees and suggest a method to improve planting of trees in order to increase their carbon reduction capacity. Methods: The cities selected were Sejong, Chungju, and Jeonju among cities without research on carbon reduction, considering the regional distribution in Korea. In the cities, 155 sample sites were selected using systematic sampling to conduct a field survey on street environments and planting structures. The surveyed data included tree species, diameter at breast height (DBH), diameter at root collar (DRC), height, crown width, and vertical structures. The carbon uptake and storage per tree were calculated using the quantification models developed for the urban trees of each species. Results: The average carbon uptake and storage of street trees were approximately 7.2 ± 0.6 kg/tree/yr and 87.1 ± 10.2 kg/tree, respectively. The key factors determining carbon uptake and storage were tree size, vertical structure, the composition of tree species, and growth conditions. The annual total carbon uptake and storage were approximately 1,135.8 tons and 22,737.8 tons, respectively. The total carbon uptake was about the same amount as carbon emitted by 2,272 vehicles a year. Conclusion: This study has significance in providing the basic unit to quantify carbon uptake and storage of street trees based on field surveys. To improve the carbon reduction capacity of street trees, it is necessary to consider planning strategies such as securing and extending available grounds and spaces for high-density street trees with a multi-layered structure.

사방댐의 유형별 경관선호 분석 (Study on Landscape Preference of Debris Barriers Types)

  • 본 연구는 시공 재료, 형태, 크기, 녹화수준이 서로 다른 사방댐에 대하여 일반인이 갖는 경관적 선호도를 조사하기 위하여 수행되었다. 분석자료 수집을 위해 2009년 12월 팔공산 방문자 122명을 대상으로 현장에서 설문조사를 실시하고, 동월 영남대학교 및 동아대학교 재학생 82명을 대상으로 강의실에서 설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사결과 사방댐의 시공재료는 전석과 같은 자연 재료가 선호되었고, 사방댐 주변에 식생을 식재하는 것이 가장 선호되었다. 연구 결과는 사방댐 설치 시 친환경적인 시공재료와 시공방법이 단지 환경보전뿐만 아니라 방문자의 선호도를 높이는 데 중요하다는 것을 보여준다. 따라서 사방댐의 경관성을 높이기 위해서는 시공재료, 녹화방법, 사방댐 디자인, 규모 등을 종합적으로 고려하여 시공하여야 할 것이다.

옥상 텃밭용 채소를 이용한 인공지반 녹화연구 (Rooftop Vegetable Garden for Green Roof System)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of soil depth and planting density on the growth of lettuce, crown daisy, and strawberry on a rooftop condition using artificial soil as a growth media. The vegetable crops showed better growth for plant height (cm), plant width (cm), plant fresh weight (g), and Fo, Fm and Fv/m on 20cm depth soil than 10cm depth soil except strawberry. Planting density of $16/m^2$ and $64/m^2$ did not show significant differences on the growth of the crops. Soil moisture content and EC were low for 10cm depth soil in lettuce plots, whereas there was no significant differences on soil moisture and EC between two soil depth in strawberry plots. Hunter's L, a, and b values showed the leaf color of lettuce dark green on 20cm depth soil and reddish on 10cm depth soil. Results showed that soil depth suitable for crop growth on rooftop conditions was 20cm rather than 10cm. Growth response of the crops showed no significant difference between $16/m^2$ and $64/m^2$, indicating that planting density of 64 $plants/m^2$ could be practiced on rooftop conditions. Lettuce growth rapidly changed in control treatment in which leaves were not pinched out, while slowly changed in plants which leaves were periodically pinched out. In the case of control plot, it was impossible to harvest because withering of lower leaves after blossom on June 22. The plant of crown daisy in which pinching was not conducted, blossomed on June 7, and the plants were removed since its aesthetical value was lost. Strawberry seemed to be a suitable vegetable crop for rooftop conditions based on its high covering rate and extended growth period until late October. The soil depth 20cm and planting density 64 $plants/m^2$ were suitable for vegetable crops on green roof system using artificial soil.
