  • Vitamin contents in different plant parts and harvesting time of Rosa davurica Pall. were determined to examine their applicability for a new medicinal supply. Among plant parts analysed, leaf contained the highest ascorbic acid concent of 1973.9 mg/100g. Fruit contained ascorbic acid (714.6mg/100g) 2. 7 times less than leaf. Vitamin contents in leaf parts also differed depending on harvesting time. Vitamin content in leaves harvested in November was much higher than that in September. Spectrophotometric analysis of total ${\beta}-carotene$ in leaf showed higher contents than that in fruit.

  • To enhance the effectiveness of the FMS (flexible manufacturing system), it is necessary for the manufacturing control system to be upgraded by integrating the cyber and the physical manufacturing systems. Using the CPPS (Cyber-Physical Production System) concept, this study proposes a 4-stage vertical integration and control framework for an aircraft parts manufacturing plant. In the proposed framework, the process controller prepares the operations schedule for processing work orders generated from the APS (advanced planning & scheduling) system. The scheduled operations and the related control commands are assigned to equipments by the dispatcher of the line controller. The line monitor is responsible for monitoring the overall status of the FMS including work orders and equipments. Finally the process monitor uses the simulation model to check the performance of the production plan using real time plant status data. The W-FMCS (Wing rib-Flexible Manufacturing Control & Simulation) are developed to implement the proposed 4-stage CPPS based FMS control architecture. The effectiveness of the proposed control architecture is examined by the real plant's operational data such as utilization and throughput. The performance improvement examined shows the usefulness of the framework in managing the smart factory's operation by providing a practical approach to integrate cyber and physical production systems.

  • This study was conducted to develop the on-line monitoring system for plant growth responses. The system consisted of two parts. One system was the measuring system and the other was its controlling system. The established measuring systems were the ultrasonic wave sensor driver for height of plant, the potentiometer for diameter of plant stem, and the weighing system with strain gage application for plant weight. Also, computer program for measurement and controlling was developed, and the whole system was tested by the fabricated plant, and the actual plant growth responses were monitored by the system. When monitoring the actual plant growth responses, even the small amount of plant growth resposes could be measured by the system within tolerable error ranges.

  • A laboratory experiment was conducted to determine the content of phenolics and flavonoids, antioxidant activity and cytotoxicity from methanol extracts of different plant parts of $T.$ $officinale$ F. H. Wigg. Total phenolics [mg chlorogenic acid equivalents (FAE) $kg^{-1}$ DW] was highest in flower extracts (72.0 mg $kg^{-1}$), followed by leaf, root, and stalk extracts of $T.$ $officinale$ ($p$ < 0.05). The result of total flavonoid level [mg naringin equivalents $kg^{-1}$ DW] had same tendency to differential total phenolics contents among plant parts, but showed lower ranges of amount. The antioxidant activity of the methanol extracts from all the plant parts dose-dependently increased. DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl radical) free radical scavenging activity was highest in flower extracts ($IC_{50}$ value = 624.3 mg $kg^{-1}$ ), and followed by leaf, root, and stalk extracts of $T.$ $officinale$ ($p$ < 0.05). By means of MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) assay, cell viability of Calu-6 for human pulmonary carcinoma and SNU-601 for human gastric carcinoma showed the lowest $IC_{50}$ value in the flower extracts ($IC_{50}$ value = 85.7 and 311.4 mg $kg^{-1}$, respectively), indicating the highest cytotoxicity. The results suggested that total phenolics content and total flavonoids level in different plant parts of $T.$ $officinale$ were highly correlated with antioxidative ($r^2$=0.7280 to 0.9971) or with cytotoxic activities ($r^2$=0.5795 to 0.9515).

  • The objective of this study is to predict the reliability of the electronic control module at ROD control system in nuclear power plant. Maintaining of the reliability is important issue in the complext system like nuclear plower plant, military equipment, satelite system, etc., because the failure of reliability brings etravagant economic loss and deteriorates public acceptance. In addition to the prediction of reliability, the fators affect the reliability including operating condition, environment, temperature and quality factors were analyzed and simulated. The result shows that the quality factors are more critical for the higher reliability than other two factors.

  • Impatiens textori Miquel (Balsaminaceae) is an annual plant growing in most parts of Korea. The herb of this plant has been used for the external application of snake poison and the bruise. Previous investigations conducted with the herbs have demonstrated it to contain three flavones and three flavone glycosides. Continuing to previous reports, quercetin, kaempferol and acacetin $7-O-{\beta}-D-glucoside$ were isolated from the herbs of this plant.

  • There are several bearing systems at the large steam-turbines in thermal power plant. The bearing system is one of the most important parts of rotating machinery. The steam turbine vibrations mainly depend on the bearing oil and the shaft alignment condition. This paper describes on the steam turbine abnormal vibration due to the oil whip in terms of the shaft alignment in the thermal power plant.

  • As a basic research for the yield-mechanism of soybean seeldings, the distribution and variety of free amino acid and protein-amino acid in some parts of root were studied. At the meristematic, elongational and maturated zones of root, the distribution and variety of N-components was different substantially. It shows that N-components are taken part in energy source for organization in early stage of growth. N-pool also changed in every part of root.

  • Allelopathy is an ecological phenomenon that refers to the beneficial or harmful effects of one plant on another plant, both crop and weed species, by the release of organic chemicals (allelochemicals) from plant parts by leaching, root exudation, volatilization, residue decomposition in soil and other processes in both natural and agricultural systems. Allelopathy can affect many aspects of plant ecology including occurrence, growth, plant succession, the structure of plant communities, survival, dominance, diversity, and plant productivity. In this review, we describe the concept of allelopathy, some mechanisms of operation within plants and then focus on a select number of gymnospermous tree genera: Ephedra, Pinus, Taxus, Cedrus, Juniperus, Picea, Cunninghamia and Araucaria. Pinus, Taxus (yew) and Cedrus (cedar) trees have a strong negative allelopathic effect on the germination, growth, or development of other plant species in the forest community.
