  • Recently, new concept and paradigm of 'Environmentally-Friendless' is taking a growing interest in environmental planning and design. This study is to develop the new approach of sustainable development, and to establish the indicators for environmentally-friendliness of "Tourism Farms" in rural areas. A questionnaire survey was conducted for deputy manager group and expert group. The environmentally-friendliness of tourism farms is composed of three categories, conservation of global environment(Low Impact), friendliness to surrounding nature(High Contact), and environmental health and amenities (Health '||'&'||' Amenity). Four indicators, such as saving of energy and water resource, reduction and reuse of garbage, natural purification of sewage disposal, and utilization of natural energy, were affecting the first category, i.e., conservation of global environment(Low Impact). And, friendliness to surrounding nature (High Contact) is affected by 3 indicators, such as contact to nature and diverse green areas, water intimate '||'&'||' contact areas, and natural ecology observation by biotope. Finally, the dimension of environmental health and amenity is affected by 3 indicators, such as nature affinity by farming experience, environmental-friendliness of soil '||'&'||' crops by organic farming, campaign and education programs of environmentally-friendliness. From the result of Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) for 10 indicators, environmentally-friendliness was recommended as 'Concentrate Here'. And, the content validity of 10 indicators for 3 categories was examined by factor analysis. The result showed as the same as hypothetical model, which proved the validity of hypothetical model.

  • The purposes of this study are (1) carrying out the case study for the urban park planning in point of landscape ecology, (2) analyzing and evaluating the indicator character of the landscape ecological view on the basis of the case study and (3) proposing the urban park planning in point of landscape ecology. The results of this study are as follows. As a result of the elongation analysis among the shape indicators, especially, Dalsung Park has the highest score 0.85 and Chimsan Park has the lowest score 0.34. In case of green shape index, Bummul Park has 1.70 and Chimsan Park has 1.40 respectively. As a result of the buffer analysis, Chimsan Park turned out to be the highest, Bummul Park turned out the lowest. Chimsan Park gets I grade in two indicators but Bummul Park gets III grade in four indicators contrastively. As a result of the possibility analysis of the urban park planning, increasing elongation index and the number of major lobes can be an improvement method. Also by changing multilayer structure, micro-multiformity and curvature are increased and buffer of edge is improved. In this study, the basic data of landscape ecology can be obtained by the character analysis of landscape ecology. This study has a significant meaning of possibility in planning of the urban park which reflects the character of landscape ecology. This research was only performed in Chimsan Park, so additional researches for various cases will be needed.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest diagnosis indicators and checklist for urban regeneration projects by Korea Land & Housing Corporation(LH). There are already deprivation indices in the Urban Regeneration Act but not any additional guidelines in the practical aspect. In order to use the diagnosis indicators, the central government should supply more specific checklist to the actors in the regeneration field. The key actor of many stakeholders is LH as an operator and implementer in the regeneration projects. So far, LH has developed housing and cities and there haven't been any obvious changes to realize public benefit in the deteriorated area. From now on, It has to plan, implement, and manage a lot of regeneration projects entirely. Therefore, It is necessary to develope and apply the diagnosis indicators and checklist based on projects. This paper came up with the 6 factors related with LH business field : housing, urban infrastructure, public service, private service, environment, and smart city. For these, 32 diagnosis indicators and 72 checklists were selected that can include both physical and qualitative indicators. These can be used not only for the selection of regeneration projects but also for the process monitoring such as planning and implementation.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish the evaluation model through the systematic process of selecting the indicators and to evaluate the environmental-control function on forest using GIS in Deagu for the sustainable forest planning. The 35 indicators as basic items were selected by literature review and those were squeezed into the 29 indicators through expert brainstorming. Also, the 8 indicators to evaluate environmental-control function were selected by the first survey and the 5 final indicators such as carbon sink, temperature decrease, wind formation, water circulation, air purification were determined by MCB analysis using the second survey. The evaluation model was established through the weight of each indicator by AHP analysis using the third survey. According to the result of evaluating the environmental-control function on forest, the functions around the top area of Mt. Ap, Mt. Biseul, Mt. Palgong had more than 66 scores. On the other hand, the functions around Mt. Waryong and forest of Chilgok in Buk-gu had less than 40 scores. It is necessary to improve the function through the sustainable restoration and management in case of forest that the environmental-control function was lower. Furthermore, these results will be able to be utilized as basic data in order to establish the preservation area and control development area at the urban, environmental, and forest planning.

  • Many studies which assessed the function of forest are focused on usage of citizen, but studies which focused on natural-ecological function still lack. Hence, the purpose of this study is to select and apply the evaluation indicators on natural-ecological function of forest as a base research for sustainable planing and management. First, the 35 indicators were selected by the review of the internal and external 56 literature. The 12 indicators among those were reselected as natural-ecological indicator by the first survey and 7 indicators such as green area, connectivity etc. were determined through MCB analysis by the second survey. Also, the weights of 7 indicators for the functional evaluation were computed using AHP analysis by the third survey. As aresult of AHP analysis, the naturality was showed the highest indicator by 0.189, while the NDVI was evaluated the lowest indicator by 0.063. According to the result of evaluating the natural-ecological function on forest in Daegu which was selected as suitable study area, the natural-ecological functions around the Mt. Ap and Mt. Chengryong, top of Mt. Biseul had more than 85 scores, so those were assessed as an excellent area. On the other hand, the functions around the western area of Mt. Waryong and Mt. Macheon, the Mt. Daeni of Dalseong-Gun had less than 50 scores, which means that the area had to be controled by sustainable management. Therefore, we will be able to utilize the basic data for the preservation and management at urban and environmental planning through the results of this study.

  • Objectives: Although many cities have adopted Healthy Cities approach in Republic of Korea, few studies have been reported about city health profile. So we report a case of city health profile made of subjective indexes and objective indicators using available recent evidence. Methods: To assess subjective city health indexes, questionnaire survey was implemented to public officers and citizen adapting the 'Signs of progress, signs of caution of 12 stage tool from Ontario Healthy Community Coalition. Based on recent literature objective city health indicators were collected for time-series comparison and for the comparison with those of larger province mainly using Korean Statistical Information Service. Results: Subjective city health indexes were successfully constructed in four areas including human health, environment, social and economic area. The score was especially low in environmental area. Specific items in each area for improvement were identified. Objective city health indicators were collected for three year time-series comparison and for the compared with those of larger province. Conclusions: City health profile comprised of subjective city health indexes and objective city health indicators could successfully be made from primary survey and secondary data in a medium-sized Korean city. That City health profile was useful in subsequent city health planning through participatory process.
