Purpose: After Mers breakout in 2015, major hospital in Korea have been renovated the emergency department to make a separate infection control zone for high-risk patient with potential infection and to improve a triage area and an entrance area for efficient patient evaluation. However, there are no specific design standards to reinforce infection control for patients and staffs safety. Therefore, it is important to establish of initial design factors in the triage and entrance area as a guideline. Methods: 5 cases which had been recently renovated are selected to analyze patient circulation and spatial composition in a triage area and an entrance area. The partial floor plans of each case are represented as bubble diagrams to help understanding of different patient circulation flows. Based on this analysis, significant design factors which should be considered in planning stage for infection control have been extracted. Results: 13 design factors are established. Using these design factors, patient circulation diagram is generated to provide an optimized suggestion for efficient infection control. Implications: This suggestion provides basic databases to start to establish design guideline in the triage area and the entrance area to minimize infection spreading in the emergency department.

The purpose of this study is to propose the building design guideline considering photovoltaic panel installation through the analysis of relevant guidelines from home and abroad in terms of building design and solar panel installation. Conclusions can be summarized as followings; Considerations in building design : selection of the site with high solar accessibility, avoidance of the shade from the adjacent building & trees, south facing orientation of solar panel in building design, removal of shade on the solar panel from the part of building itself, load consideration of solar panel & fixing materials, safe passage securement for solar system maintenance, and planning of piping and mechanical room for solar system. Considerations in solar panel installation : harmonizing of solar panel with surrounding environment, unity of solar panel orientation & slope, regular maintenance of solar system, (in case of flat roof installation) solar panel installation afloat over the roof, installation area within the roof floor, and lower than parapet height, (in case of sloped roof installation) solar panel installation parallel with the roof slope, ventilation space securement below the panel, installation area within the roof surface, and similar material installation in empty space.

GIS is a powerful toolbox in managing spatial data associated with attribute data. However GIS is short of spatial analysis function and graphic user interface(GUI) function in dealing with dynamic planning problems. Decision Support Systems(DSS) make up for the shortage of GIS by providing GUI function, modeling function and database function. Spatial Decision Support Systems(SDSS), a new kind of DSS, incorporate display function, basic spatial analysis function and manipulation function of spatial data and attribute data of GIS and GUI function, modeling function and database function of DSS in dealing with spatial planning problems. Planning Support Systems(PSS) add more advanced spatial analysis function and intertemporal function to the functions of SDSS. This study focuses on the modeling of a PSS for capacity expansion of water-distribution network depending upon land use planning by using GIS, value engineering(VE) and life cycle costing(LCC). The PSS shows a guideline about the investment of water-distribution networks related to urban growth management through generating certain numbers of dynamic alternatives to supply the amount of water caused by land use planning.

In this study, It is suggested how to utilize hardware capacity sizing system for WEB, WAS, OLTP server's CPU, memory, and disk capacity by its user reasonably. To achieve goal of this study, we presented specific approaches in aspect of institutional viewpoint. The result of this study can be reflected gradually in the guideline of informatization related budgeting by MPB(Ministry of Planning and Budget) and e-government supporting program.

This study focused on the checking of design guideline using concept of reference plane as a promoting tool in order to apply to practical affair in relation to material standardization in housing build. For this purpose, we above all defined the role of reference plane. After establishing structural type can correspond to planning module of building components and coordination condition, we did exemplicated the sub-detail of building components which be to detach according to design method using the concept of reference plane that be complexed with spacial territory and replace cycle of building component or material.

The purpose of this study is, to increase the number of and improve environmental quality of kindergartens, to minimize the time and effort required in the design and construction of kindergartens by providing architectural design guidelines(space program and area guideline). The prerequisite condition of this study, in particular, is to provide the standardized design process for designing kindergartens which has merits such as provision of more qualified environment, minimization of the effort required in the design. Through the review of domestic regulations, domestic and foreign guidelines, and on-sight investigation of existing kindergartens, the practical guidelines for space program, areas, elevations and material planning were proposed.

These days, in Korea, according to improving the standard living, people generally work 5 days a week and it results more leisure hours. On weekends or in specific season, travel to mountain region around the major city is much in demand, and, in case of public transportation, the demand exceeds the supply. So, people tend to go other places, even overseas, for their holidays. The situation in Korea reflects the needs for mountainous light rail transit system with the object of convenient and rapid transport of passengers. In this paper, the guideline for mountainous light rail transit planing is proposed, and the representative mountainous light rail transit system is analyzed to choose the proper mountainous light rail transit system which adapts the demand for transportation and the terrain in Korea.

Nursery is a very important space for the development and growth of children. Domestic national nurseries mostly have uniform space composition, and there is no significant difference from the general architecture. Therefore, this study focused on presuming the cause of uniformity in domestic nursery space configuration through analysing the competition guidelines. For this purpose, we reviewed the procedure of the competitions and collected 57 competition guidelines for the last 10 years. The competition guideline was divided into design guidelines and evaluation items, and each of them were analysed focused on the contents of the items and the changes over time. The derived results suggested the problems which seem to affect the uniformity of the domestic nursery in three aspects: design guidelines, evaluation items, and the current procedure of nursery competitions.

The case of laboratory-acquired SARS Corona virus infection in Taiwan has revealed a number of weaknesses in management, construction, and oversight of laboratories. Also, with the increased demands for bio-safety laboratory, there is an urgent need to develop a uniform and comprehensive guidance for architects and construction engineers in the preparation of design and construction. This research investigates the key elements for designers, engineers, and potential owners in biosafety laboratory design and construction. It defines key elements and determines major relationships and standards that should be adhered to when developing site layout. In addition to layout planning and design guidance of biosafety laboratory, this research also interviews the perspective of architects and survey the state-of-the-art technology in Taiwan. It represents the portraits by site investigation. The purpose of the research is to provide guideline of design and avoid potential future conflict to ensure the critical continuity of functions.
