An Axisymmetrical Dock in Waves

  • Linearized motions of as axisymmetrical dock freely floating in a regular plane wave are discussed. An extension of the Bessho variational principle(Bessho[3]) is derived to obtain a numerical procedure for a solution of the boundary value problem associated with the fluid motion. The added mass and the damping coefficients for a circular dock in vertical(heave) and horizontal(surge) oscillations are evaluated numerically, and the resulte seems to be satisfactory.

  • The problem addressed in this paper is the accurate tracting of a dynamic target using outputs from a forward - looking infrared(FLIR) sensor as measurements. The important variations are 1) the spread of the target intensity pattern in the FLIR image plane, 2) target motion characteristics, and 3) the rms value and both spartial and temporal correlation of the back - ground noise. Based on this insights. design modifications and on - line adaptation copabilities are incorporated to enable this type of filter track highly maneuverable targets such as air-to-air missiles, with spatially distributed and changing image intensity profiles, against, background clutter.

심 산개성단의 역동적 구조 (Dynamic structure of the Sim open clusters)

  • 722 open clusters in the Sim open cluster catalogue show the outermost structure of open clusters. The catalogue is based on the proper motion and parallax of the stars. These results reveal the hidden structures of weak membership signals in the field star contamination. It contains the tidal tails, flattened structure along the galactic plane, interacting double clusters and very poor and spread clusters. We will show these interesting structures.

In Vivo Three-dimensional Motion Analysis of the Shoulder Joint During Internal and External Rotation at 90 Degrees of Abduction, using wide Gantry MRI.

  • Despite its importance for the understanding of joint kinematics in vivo, there has been few studies about shoulder joints. The purpose of this study is to analyze the glenohumeral joint during internal and external rotation at 90 degrees of abduction using in vivo noninvasive motion analysis system. MRI was performed for the following seven positions from maximum internal rotation to maximum external rotation at intervals of 30 degrees. We used 3D-gradient echo sequencing (TR: 12 ms, TE: 5.8 ms, 0.8 mm-slice thickness). Our method is based on matching three-dimensional MR images by the similarity of the image intensity. We analyzed the in vivo three-dimensional motions of the glenohumeral and scapulothoracic joint during this motion. In scapla plane, the mean rotation angle of the glenohumeral join was 105.5 degrees ($SD{\pm}39.0^{\circ}$). The mean rotation angle of the scapulothracic joint was 27.5 degrees ($SD\;{\pm}\;7.7^{\circ}$). The contribution ratio is almost 3.8:1 of glenohumeral and scapulothracic joint respectively.

A Feature of Stellar Density Distribution within Tidal Radius of Globular Cluster NGC 6626 in the Bulge Direction

  • We have investigated the spatial configuration of stars within the tidal radius of metal poor globular cluster NGC 6626 in the bulge direction. Data were obtained in near-IR J,H,Ks bands with wide-field ($20'\times20'$) detector, WIRCam at CFHT. To trace the stellar density around target cluster, we sorted cluster's member stars by using a mask filtering algorithm and weighting the stars on the color-magnitude diagram. From the weighted surface density map, we found that the stellar spatial distributions within the tidal radius appear asymmetric and distorted features. Especially, we found that more prominent over-density features are extending toward the direction of Galactic plane rather than toward the directions of the Galactic center and its orbital motion. This orientation of the stellar density distribution can be interpreted with result of disk-shock effect of the Galaxy that the cluster had been experienced. Indeed, this over-density feature are well represented in the radial surface density profile for different angular sections. As one of the metal poor globular clusters with extended horizontal branch (EHB) in the bulge direction, NGC 6626 is kinematically decoupled from the normal clusters and known to have disk motion of peculiar motion. Thus, our result will be able to add further constraints to understand the origin of this cluster and the formation of bulge region in early universe.

정상 성인에서 Flex-OA 기능성 신발과 일반 신발이 보행 중 엉덩관절과 무릎관절의 가동범위에 미치는 효과 (Effects of the Flex-OA Functional Shoe and the Standardized Shoe on Ranges of Hip and Knee Joint During Gait in Healthy Individuals)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of the Flex-OA shoe, a specific functional shoe, in terms of the range of motion (ROM) of hip and knee joint during walking when compared to a standardized shoe. Methods : Twenty-six healthy adults (18 males, 6 females) participated in this study. Subjects performed 8 walking trials consisting of two different shoe conditions to evaluate the hip and knee ROM using a three-dimensional motion capture system. Visual 3D motion analysis software was finally used to coordinate the kinematic data. Result : The total ROM and maximal abduction range of the hip joint in the coronal planes when wearing the Flex-OA shoe were significantly increased during walking compared to wearing a standard shoe (p<.05). On the other hand, significantly increased ROM was observed in the sagittal plane when wearing the Flex-OA shoe in the knee joints compared to a standard shoe (p<.05). Conclusion : Although clinical application of the specific functional shoe has known clearly positive effects on knee moments, the results of this study could provide important clues to explain the background of these effects in terms of the hip and knee joints when applying a specific functional shoe.

Application of New Appliances for Management of Growing Class III Malocclusion Child: Comparazation Case Reports

  • The purpose of this comparison of case reports is to introduce the results of the application of new devices for the management of growing Class III malocclusions in children. Two 8-year-old boys had a chief complaint of anterior crossbite. Anterior crossbite correction using a tandem traction bow appliance (TTBA) or a Carriere Motion 3D Class III appliance with a Transforce appliance was planned. By comparing cephalometric radiographs before and after treatment, changes in skeletal growth and incisor inclination to the Frankfort horizontal (FH) plane could be measured. Both devices increased SNA and ANB angles, N-I Pg-A, U1 to SN, and U1 to FH. Both appliances improved facial features and resolution of anterior crossbite. The TTBA and Carriere Motion 3D Class III appliance had similar effects when applied as early treatment for growing mesio-occlusions and anterior crossbite in two boys. However, long-term outcome assessments and well-designed comparative studies are still required.

에너지보행과 일반보행에서 몸통운동의 특성 비교 (The Comparison of Characteristics of Trunk Motion between Energy Walking and Normal Walking)

  • The purpose of this paper was to compare of difference between energy walking and normal walking. Subjects were selected 8 male undergraduates. The kinematic variables of a pelvis and a thorax were analysed at the take off and contact with 3d cinematography. In addition to the variables, the phase plot angle was calculated in order to definite characteristics in the phase space. The pelvic angle and angular velocity showed significant differences in the flexion/extension between two walking patterns. The pelvic angle and angular velocity were increasing when walking speed was increasing and magnitude of the variables of energy walking was larger than corresponding values for normal walking. On the other hand, the thoracic angle demonstrated significant differences in the flexion/extension and rotation between two walking patterns. The angles of energy walking were smaller in the flexion/extension and were larger in the rotation than the angle of normal walking. The kinematic characteristics of energy walking were also showed clearly significant differences in the range of motion and the relative angle of the trunk. The angle of phase plot only showed demonstrated a significant difference in the rotation at contact between the two walking patterns.

Optimal Control Design for Automatic Ship Berthing by Using Bow and Stern Thrusters

  • Conventionally, because it is difficult to control a ship in shallow water and because attempting to do so creates unwanted environmental effects, maneuvering ships in the harbor area for berthing is usually done with the assistance of tugboats. In this paper, we propose a new method for berthing ships automatically by using bow and stern thrusters. Specifically, a steering motion model of a ship is considered, and parameters in the equation are evaluated by the system identification technique. An optimal controller based on observations was designed from the linearization of the non-linear ship motion in the horizontal plane. It is used to reduce the uncertainty about the ship's dynamics and reduce measurement requirements. The performance of the controller was also analyzed for its robustness relative to avoiding disturbing the environment due to winds, currents, and wave-drift forces. Experiments were conducted to estimate the potential for identifying result and the design of the controller. Specifically, in this paper, the system modeling and tracking control approach are discussed based on a two-degree-of-freedom (2DOF) servo-system design.
