Leg-angle 변화에 따른 V-type 초음파모터의 특성 (Characteristics of V-type Ultrasonic Motor with the Change Angle of Legs)

  • In the case of existing ultrasonic motors, they have characteristics such as outstanding response speed, speed and high efficiency. However, it's very hard to use practically them as small motors due to complicated structure and expensive cost. This paper proposed v-type ultrasonic linear motor. Stator of the motor is composed of thin elastic body and four ceramics attached to upper and bottom areas of the body. The ceramics have each direction of polarization. When two harmonic voltages which had $90^{\circ}$ phase difference were applied to the ceramics, the symmetric and anti-symmetric displacements were generated at the tip to make the elliptical motion. To find out a model that generates maximum displacement at contact tip, FEM program was used with change of leg-angle. In addition, optimal model was chosen by considering magnitude and shape of displacement according to change of frequency.

  • This paper represents a piezoelectric ultrasonic linear motor by traveling wave. The motor which is composed of two piezo ceramics, elastic body, and connecting tip is driven by the frictional force between the connecting tip and the linear motion guide. longitudinal and flexural vibrations are made by traveling wave which is generated when the ultrasonic electrical signals with 90 degree phase difference are applied to two ceramics. These vibrations contribute to elliptical motion by mixed mode between longitudinal and transverse mode. A linear movement can be easily obtained by using the elliptical motion. In this paper, the piezoelectric actuator has been intensively simulated by using ATILA to achieve an optimized elliptical motion of it. We could get the elliptical motion from actual experiment through the simulated result.

  • Polycrystalline CdSe thin films were grown on ceramic substrate using a chemical bath deposition(CBD)method. They were annealed at various temperature and X-ray diffraction patterns were measured by X-ray diffractometer in order to study CdSe polycrystal structure. Using extrapolation method of X-ray diffraction patterns for the CdSe samples annealed in $N_2$ gas at $450^{\circ}C$ it was found hexagonal structure whose lattice parameters $a_0$ and $c_0$ were $4.302{\AA}$ and 7.014 ${\AA}$, respectively. Its grain size was about 0.3 ${\mu}m$. Hall effect on this sample was measured by Van der Pauw method and studied on carrier density and movility depending on temperature. From Hall data, the mobility was likely to be decreased by piezo electric scattering at temperature range of 33K and 200K, and by polar optical scattering at temperature range of 200K and 293K. We measured also spectral response, sensitivity$(\gamma)$, maximum allowable power dissipation and response time on these samples.

  • Zinc Oxide(ZnO) thin films on Si (100) substrates were deposited by RF magnetron reactive sputtering. The characteristics of zinc oxide thin films with changing sputtering conditions such as argon/oxygen gas ratios, RF power, and substrate temperature, chamber pressure and target-substrate distance were investigated. To analyze a crystallographic properties of the films, $\theta/2{\theta}$ mode X -ray diffraction, SEM, and AFM analyses. C-axis preferred orientation, resistivity, and surface roughness highly depended on Ar/$O_2$ gas ratios. The resistivity of ZnO thin films rapidly increased with increasing oxygen ratio and the resistivity value of $9{\times}10^7\;{\Omega}cm$ was obtained at a working pressure of 10 mTorr with Ar/$O_2$=50/50. The surface roughness was also improved with increasing oxygen ratio and the ZnO films deposited with Ar/$O_2$=50/50 showed the excellent roughness value of $28.7{\AA}$.

박형 초음파모터의 최적 설계 (Optimal Design of Thin Type Ultrasonic Motor)

  • In this study, novel structured thin ultrasonic rotary motor has been proposed. Ultrasonic motors are based on an elliptical motion on the surface of elastic body. Thin brass plate was used as a cross shaped vibrator and eight ceramic plates were attached on upper side and bottom side of the brass plate. From the thin stator, elliptical displacements of the four contact tips were obtained. To find the optimal size of the stator, motions of the motors were simulated using ATILA by changing length, width and thickness of the ceramics. The stators had commonly three resonance peaks and contact tips of the stator moved on tangential or normal trajectories at these resonance peaks. The maximum displacements at the resonance peaks were compared. As results, maximum displacements of the contact tips were obtained at the length of 16 mm, width of 6 mm and thickness of 0.4 mm. Changes of the resonance frequencies were inversely proportional to the length of ceramic and proportional to the width of ceramic. The motor was fabricated by using the designed stator. And, the characteristics of the motor were compared with the simulated results. When the motor was fabricated with these results, speed fo 935 rpm was obtained by input voltage of 25 Vrms at 93.5 kHz.

  • Recently, developments of device using characteristics of ceramics as a new technical material is in progress. While doing so, Ultrasonic motor which is a part of research & flat-type $L_1-B_8$ mode Ultrasonic motor and measured the operation characteristics of its. The size of USM is 80*20*1.5[$mm{^1}$](length*width*thickness) and is constructed with stator by piezo-ceramics and stainless elastic body and rotator by bearings. As results of experiments, the fastest speed of revolution($\upsilon$), the maximum torque(T) and the efficiency($\eta$) were 37.5[cm/sec], 5.0[mN$\cdot$M] and 1.17[%] respectively when 27.9[kHz], 150[gf], 50[V] were applied. SO, we think this flat-type $L{_1}-B{_8}$ mode Ultrasonic motor is able to be used for applications in forwarding device of a paper or electric card so on. $MnO_2$가 PSN-PNN-PZT 세라믹스에 미치는 영향 (Effect of $MnO_2$ on the PSN-PNN-PZT Ceramics)

  • In this study, to develop the low temperature sintering ceramics for piezoelectric transformer, PSN-PNN-PZT system ceramics were manufactured as a function of $MnO_2$ addition. Its dielectric and piezoelectric characteristics were investigated. With increasing the amount of $MnO_2$ addition, electromechanical coupling factor(kp) were increased until 0.3wt% $MnO_2$ and that after decreased. mechanical quality factor(Qm) showed the maxinum value at 0.5wt% $MnO_2$. For piezoelectric transformer application, the 0.5wt% $MnO_2$ added specimen sintered at $1,000^{\circ}C$ showed the proper value of ${\varepsilon}r$= 1,646, kp=0.55 and Qm=439.

  • In this study, in order to develop multilayer piezo-actuator, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics were fabricated using $Li_2CO_3,\;Na_2CO_3$, ZnO as sintering aids and their piezoelectric and dielectric properties were investigated according to the Bi substitution. Bi substitution enhanced electromechanical coupling factor$(k_p)$ and dielectric constant$({\varepsilon}_r)$. However, mechanical quality factor was deteriorated. At the sintering temperature of $870^{\circ}C$ and Bi substitution of 1mol%, density, electromechanical coupling factor$(k_p)$, mechanical quality factor$(Q_m)$, Dielectric constant$({\varepsilon}_r)$ and piezoelectric constant$(d_{33})$ of specimen showed the optimum value of $7.878g/cm^3$, 0.608, 835, 1603 and 397pC/N, respectively.

  • Today, the ceramic transformer becomes widely used for the TFT LCD backlight inverter system thanks to its high efficiency and small size. In this paper, a high efficient inverter system for cold cathode flourescent lamp (CCFL) including PLL controller for tuning the PWM frequency to the frequency that the efficiency of the inverter system becomes maximum is proposed. The control IC implementing this feature will be released by Interpion Co. Ltd. in May 2002.

압전 소자를 이용한 에너지 회수에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Energy Harvesting Using Piezoelectric Material)

  • A target of this paper is to get some elementary experimental data on the energy harvesting using a piezoelectric material. A THUNDER series piezo material (TH7-R), which has been developed by NASA engineer is selected for this study. In order to provide a mechanical energy to the piezoelectric material, a mechanical motion vibrator and its driving electronics are designed. Using a simple PWM control, the excitation frequency of vibrating mechanical motion is varied. The generated electric power as a function of the excitation frequency is monitored and analyzed. This initial experiment shows a possible energy source using a piezoelectric material for the application to low-power consumed small electronic devices such as RFID, MEMS, and etc.
