  • We developed a new laser irradiation (BLDA: Blue Multi-Laser-Diode Annealing) system. The system forms the uniform line beam, which is constructed by 48 pieces of semiconductor lasers. This new system has achieved high laser output stability and the highly accurate beam shape by adopting a reliable laser control, the auto-focus control in addition to an original laser photosynthesis technology and the beam homogenizing technology. It was confirmed to crystallize the Si films effectively with good quality.

  • A high-temperature superconductor (HTS) journal bearing was studied for loss. Two HTS bearings support the rotor at top and bottom. The rotor weight is 4 kg and the length is about 300 mm. Both the top and bottom bearings have two permanent magnet (PM) rings with an iron pole piece separating them. Each HTS journal bearing is composed of six pieces of superconductor blocks of size 35$\times$25$\times$10 mm. The HTS blocks are encased in a cryochamber through which liquid nitrogen flows. The inner spool of the cryochamber is made from G-10 to reduce eddy current loss, and the rest of the cryochamber is stainless steel. The magnetic field from the PM rings < 10 mT on the stainless part. The rotational drag was measured over the same speed range. Results indicate that the 10 mT design criteria for magnetic field on the stainless part of the cryochamber is too high.

  • This research is to show the mechanical properties of structural steels by welding at high temperature. Welding parts are divided with weld metal and HAZ(Heat Affected Zone). HAZ is formed by interval from welding heat source and heating and cooling rates. Then, the change of both microstructure and mechanical properties occurs. Discontinuity of mechanical and chemical property at HAZ is the cause of safety decrease of structure. At this point, in this research, tensile tests at high temperature with test pieces of base metal and weld metal of SS400 and SM490 are accomplished. From the results, the mechanical properties of both SS400 and SM490 are standardized without welding or non-welding.

  • This paper presents the automatic music emotion classification on acoustic data. A three-level structure is developed. The low-level extracts the timbre and rhythm features. The middle-level estimates the indication functions that represent the emotion probability of a single analysis unit. The high-level predicts the emotion result based on the indication function values. Experiments are carried out on 695 homogeneous music pieces labeled with four emotions, including pleasant, calm, sad, and excited. Three machine learning methods, GMM, MLP, and SVM, are compared on the high-level. The best result of 90.16% is obtained by MLP method.

  • The stone caves in Korea, though they were first influenced by Chinese cave temples, were not made same with their predecessors in style. Nearly all Korean stone caves are the simulated ones built artificially, and they are divided into the following: A. The caves that were made up with several pieces of natural rocks with some wood works done over them to cover the open spaces between the rocks. B. Wood works were added in front of the rock-cut images of Buddha in order to construct the cave. C. The men-made caves Suk-kul-am in Kyung-ju is well-known among the above kind of the caves. In short, Korean stone caves have their distinction in which they were inspired by the Indian and Chinese examples and developed their own styles to meet the specific conditions and restraints of the Korean mountains. The extant Silla cave temples are classified in the following four groups: 1) The type of Shin-sun-sa(神仙寺) at Kyung-ju 2) The type of Ka-heung-ri cave(可興里) at Yong-ju(榮州) 3) The type of Kun-wi cave(軍威) 4) The type of Suk-kul-am(石窟庵) at Kyung-ju

  • This purpose of present study was to examine the figures and colors of hanbok textile. The data were collected from 489 pieces selling at hanbok shops in Taegu pusan and were analysed. Result of this study was as follows: 1) Figures As the hanbok figures tradition figures were used a great many among the figures. The next was natural geometric abstract figures. The reactionism trend was worthy of notice in figures and traditional design occupied most of them. 2) Color In the hue, YR, R, RP group were used concentratedly. Because 5,6,7 level were used a great many among the value value was represented lightly more than midium light. Because 2,3,4 level were used a great many among the chroma chroma was represented duller than midium chroma. Thus hanbok color was used mainly in a several party and korean were tendancy to like natural the sence of color.

  • This study investigated experimentally the response of thick reinforced concrete specimens having hollow cores with critical parameters. The investigation includes testing of twelve specimens that are solid and hollow-core slab models. Each specimen consists of two pieces, the piece dimensions are (1.2 m) length, (0.3 m) width and (20 cm) thickness tested under both monotonic and repeated loading. The test program is carried out to study the effects of load type, core diameters, core shape, number of cores, and steel fiber existence. Load versus deflection at mid span, failure modes, and crack patterns were obtained during the test. The test results showed that core shape and core number has remarkable influenced on cracking pattern, ultimate load, and failure mode. Also, when considering repeated loading protocol, the ultimate load capacity, load at yielding, and ductility is reduced.

  • A single-piece-machined-part has superior characteristics to an assembly of several pieces of part especially for aircraft components. It is necessary to develop high efficient 'multi-head router machine' for machining a large size single-piece-part on a large scale. In this type machine, many cutting chips are generated. These chips should be removed automatically f3r productivity and part precision. In this study, the design evaluation of the cutting chip collecting apparatus for 'multi-head router machine' was complemented using performance test and finite element analysis.

  • Four monkeys (Macaca mulatta) were allowed to press a lever in their cages in order to earn access to one gram pieces of Panax ginseng root. Self-administration performance on an operant schedule (mult FR20 F11) was characterized by frequent pauses and increased intertrial interval responding. When given 23 hour unlimited access to ginseng root, as well as to food and water, all animals titrated their daily intake to approximately 1.5 g/kg. Gross behavioral changes included increases in vocalization, activity, stereotyped movements, and weight loss. These patterns of behavior are typical of those seen when monkeys self-administer psychomotor stimulants. Further studies on ginseng's reward value can be conducted using this animal model.

  • In the June, 1991, there was the explosion in which methanol rectified column as a part of the new surface active agent's manufacturing processes. The type of explosion was estimated as the 'detonation'. The methanol rectified column was ruined, and broken pieces of the column were scattered within 900m. Also, there were victims such as the two deads and thirteen wounded persons. The cause of the explosion was heat explosion by being concentrated locally from 0.1% to several tens% of supply fluid at Metal Hydroperoxide, which was produced by methanol and hydrogen peroxide used as the bleach of surface active agent, during the operation stoppage process of methanol rectified column.
