Third, The age, job and sex of objects showed no meaningful difference in the part of the appreciation to results of service, where as the system of health scurity and the experience of former treatment in other center showed meaningful difference. To offer the effective physical therapy, the government of province or nation should invest the large amount of financial fund continuously and make the plan of efficient operating system for the physical therapy service room of public health center which is the most nearly located to native citizen. The problem of distance, low reliability to public service, public relation and reliabity should be improved to raise the utility of physical therapy room. • This study purposed to analyze difference in the perception of service quality between physical therapy patients and physical therapists and to provide basic materials for maintaining high service quality that meets patients' expectation in each service area. For this study, we conducted a questionnaire survey with physical therapy patients and physical therapists in Jeju from the 6 to 30 of January, 2010. In the survey, we received 133 questionnaires from patients and 125 from physical therapists, and used them in analysis. The instrument used in this study to measure service quality was prepared by the researcher through adapting and supplementing the SERVQUAL model developed by Parasuraman et al (1991). For our physical therapy environment, and it consisted of a total of 23 questions in five areas, namely, tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. Patients' perception of service quality was high in order of reliability, assurance, empathy, responsiveness, and tangibility. In four areas with exception of reliability, quality perceived by patients was lower than that perceived by physical therapists, and particularly in responsiveness(t=2.82, p=.00) and empathy(t=2.02, p=.04), the difference between patients and physical therapists was statistically significant. In order to reduce the difference in the perception of service quality between patients and physical therapists, it is considered necessary to enhance physical therapists' perception of service quality and to prepare measures for improving service equality so that services would be provided through respectful communication with maintaining the dignity of patients, rather than focusing on disease.

  • The purpose of this study was to contribute to the relatively neglected area of out -patient satisfaction with physical therapy service by measuring and determining the factors affecting patient satisfaction in the Andong region. One hundred and forty-five subjects (81 males and 64 females) at 11 facilities with a mean age of 39.2 years (SD=16.2) responded to the satisfaction questionnaire. Each questionnaire contained a set of demographic questions and 19 patient satisfaction items. Cronbach's alpha test of reliability was used as the measure of internal consistency . The satisfaction scale had a good reliability coefficient : Cronbach's alpha=.8688. The average satisfaction score (minimum score=19, maximum score=95) was 75.4 ranging from 38 to 90. Respondent variables including sex, education, marital status, religion, medical security, average monthly income, and number of physical therapy out-patient department treatment visits were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, and ANCOVA. Satisfaction with the service was largely unrelated to mallets of sex, education, occupation, or other demographic variables. However, marital status, age, average monthly income, and number of treatment visits in the out-patient department were significantly related to patient satisfaction. The analysis presented here could be replicatied with a larger sample in other areas. Other factors such as physical therapist availability, physical therapist competence, accessibility, waiting time, and atmosphere of the treatment area should be considered in further studies.
