  • Digital broadcast in Korea being under way for almost 10 years and due by the end of 2012 is greatly changing the style of life. Having such a potential impact on life means it hardly permits any mistake in cooperated works of viewers, broadcasters, manufacturers and government for smooth transition. Now the early phase of digital transition is capturing the viewers with unseen features like HDTV, interactive data broadcasting, and multimedia service. But what will really thrill us is still to come with its capability far beyond high definition and interactivity.

  • Lead zirconate titanate(PZT) thin films have been attracting worldwide interests in exploring their potential properties [1-3] or the origins [4-6] of their excellent dielectic, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties near the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB). PZT thin films are expected to apply to the memory devices, micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS), and display because of their superior ferroelectric, pyroelectric, piezoelectric and electron emission properties. In this study, high- performance piezoelectric PZT thin films for actuated mirror array and optical scanner were developed by controlling the several factors, such as molecular-designed precursor, seeding layer and the residual stress in films, by a chemical solution deposition (CSD).

  • XML and CORBA have vast potential to improve software interoperability and to facilitate data exchange across applications and people from various disciplines and vendors. This Paper describes a framework for the integration and validity evaluation of injection mold design problems in a network-oriented design environment, based on In and CORBA. An overview of the framework is provided and an application to a design phase of injection mold is illustrated. The example illustrates how design validities are notified and design directions are provided to the designer during design process.

  • Fusion technology is a key to maximize innovative potential of geoscience for many challenging issues today that require integrated multi-disciplinary approach. Successful fusion technological advance can be achieved when interdisciplinary cooperation is firmly established. In order to establish firm the context of inter-disciplinarity that is still feeble, it is urgent to continuously develop geoscientific models and systematic infra for interdisciplinary cooperation such as well-prepared geo-spatial database and knowledge base network that can support multi-lateral cooperation between multiple disciplines and multi-phase international cooperation.

  • Tunneling of an electron non-normally incident on a potential barrier is theoretically studied. Tunneling time and the position where an electron appears after the tunneling are derived using the phase time approach. The positions where photons appear after two-dimensional tunneling in a frustrated total internal reflection structure are also discussed.

  • A new type of LCD has been developed using recently developed phase separated composite film method with a single glass substrate. The resultant structures are made of adjacent parallel layers of liquid crystal and polymer. The LC layer is confined between the solidified polymer layer and glass substrate. The electra-optical properties of the display have been investigated. This technique has the potential to realize a lightweight display for hand-held portable electronic products.

  • To know the growth behavior of Conductive polyaniline file, the anodic oxidation of anilien on a platiunm in aqueous sulfuric acid solution has been studied. Cyclic votammetry and currenttime transisents method used to investigate the anodic oxidation of aniline to polyaniline films on a platinum. The oxidation of aniline is shown to occur in several steps dependent on the potential. it the phase growth resembles the deposition of a metal film.

  • A compact, light-weight, integrated flight control computer(IFCC) for small unmanned autonomous vehicles is developed. Its design objective is to produce an all in one avionics system which includes the navigation sensor, data link, attitude sensors and air data sensors. The initial phase of ground and flight tests are performed to verify the prototype IFCC, showing promising results. The high potential of its application is expected.

  • Global and local memory functions, defined by Quack and Troe, were calculated for the rotationally inelastic collision of O + SO(v, j)→ [O--S--O]→O + SO(v, j'). It is seen to decrease steadily as total energy increases. Distribution of scattering cross section over product rotational states also shows the decreasing memory of initial state as total energy is increased. These results are interpreted in terms of energy scrambling at high energy due to the availability of more phase space and also the influence of strong dynamical constraints.
