The Study on Implementation of the low-cost, high-efficiency Flat Panel Tracking Antenna System (저비용 고효율 추적 평판 안테나 시스템 구현에 대한 연구)

  • This paper has analyzed the possibility about implementation of the low-cost, high-efficiency tracking antenna using flat panel antenna. Tracking antenna is consisted of four flat-antenna, comparators, tracking receiver, controller. We analyzed input signal of antenna array about the magnitude and phase of radio wave. In addition, We suggested the available tracking range through the analysis of output signal. We have minimized the error rate that happened on two path through design two path of the azimuth and elevation. Analysis results has a tracking range of ${\pm}3$ degrees, it is possible to implement.

  • Successful project planning relics on a good estimation of the manpower required to complete a project, together with the schedule options that may be available. Despite the extensive research done developing new and better models, existing software manpower estimation models are present only the total manpower or instantaneous manpower distribution according to the testing time for the software life-cycle. This paper suggests the manpower estimating models for software testing phase as well as testing process and debugging process in accordance with de-tected faults. This paper presents the polynomial model for effort based on testing and debugging faults. These models are verified by 5 different software project data sets with coefficient of determination and mean magnitude of relative error for adaptability of model.

  • Hypocentral depths of 103 aftershocks of the 12 September 2016 Gyeongju earthquake (ML 5.8) were inverted by epicentral relocation, using HYPO71 and HYPOINVERSE. From the comparison of seven models that reflect regional velocity structure in the southern Korean Peninsula, HYPO71 with linear weighting over the whole range showed less residuals than HYPOINVERSE for the model near the epicenter. Less uncertainties of focal depths were observed for the events with large magnitude and short range of the closest S-phase distance.

  • This paper has been studied about implementation of mono-pulse tracking antenna using flat-antenna. Mono-pulse tracking antenna consists of four flat-antenna, comparators, tracking receiver, controller. We analyzed magnitude and phase of radio wave that according to antenna array. In addition, We analyzed output signal of tracking receiver so that we could present the tracking range. Tracking receiver was designed in one path instead of two path of azimuth and elevation in order to minimize the difference occurred in two path. We hadResults of -3~+3degrees of tracking range.

Insulating Behavior of Sintered AlN Ceramics Prepared by High-Energy Bead Milling of AlN Powder (AlN 분말의 고에너지 밀링에 따른 소결체의 절연 특성)

  • Aluminum nitride (AlN) powder specimens are treated by high-energy bead milling and then sintered at various temperatures. Depending on the solvent and milling time, the oxygen content in the AlN powder varies significantly. When isopropyl alcohol is used, the oxygen content increases with the milling time. In contrast, hexane is very effective at suppressing the oxygen content increase in the AlN powder, although severe particle sedimentation after the milling process is observed in the AlN slurry. With an increase in the milling time, the primary particle size remains nearly constant, but the particle agglomeration is reduced. After spark plasma sintering at $1400^{\circ}C$, the second crystalline phase changes to compounds containing more $Al_2O_3$ when the AlN raw material with an increased milling time is used. When the sintering temperature is decreased from $1750^{\circ}C$ to $1400^{\circ}C$, the DC resistivity increases by approximately two orders of magnitude, which implies that controlling the sintering temperature is a very effective way to improve the DC resistivity of AlN ceramics.

Steady Boundary Layer Flow under the Influence of Progressive Finite Amplitude Wave (진행성 유한진폭파로 인한 정상성 경계층류)

  • The problem of the formation of steady stream of flat bottom boundary is revisited by applying a progressive finite amplitude wave as an external flow. A solution for the boundary layer is found by expanding the boundary equation into double Fourier series. A vertical profile of the stream is obtained as a function of the ratio, h/L, where h and L are the water depth and the wave length. For the best applicable range of the external wave, it is shown that the boundary stream is independent of the fluid viscosity, but a function of the wave parameters and the water depth. The stream velocity of the steady boundary layer flow is proportional to the wave phase velocity and the square of the ratio, H/h, where His the wave height. The magnitude of the velocity is insignificant when h/L is greater than 1/5.

  • Large magnitude common-mode voltage (CMV) and its variation dv/dt have an adverse effect on motor drives that leads to early winding failure and bearing deterioration. For matrix converters, the switch states that connect each output line to a different input phase result in the lowest CMV among all of the valid switch states. To reduce the output CMV for matrix converters, this paper presents a new space vector modulation (SVM) strategy by utilizing these switch states. By this mean, the peak value and the root mean square of the CMV are dramatically decreased. In comparison with the conventional SVM methods this strategy has a similar computation overhead. Experiment results are shown to validate the effectiveness of the proposed modulation method.

  • From the Earth's polar motion time series (IERS 08 C04, since 1981), after removal of seasonal variation by band-pass filtering, we acquired Earth's free Eulerian motion (Chandler wobble) time series. By successive least square error fittings on it, we analyzed amplitude and phase variation of Chandler wobble. We attempted to identify any precursory behavior of the pole before large earthquakes but only to fail. Unlike Smylie's conjecture there was no appreciable motion of the Earth's pole detected at around the each times of recent six largest earthquakes of magnitude over 8.5.

  • This paper describes a method of parameter estimation of time series data using discrete Fourier transform(DFT). DFT have been mainly used to precisely and rapidly obtain the frequency of a signal. In a dynamic system, a real part of a mode used to learn damping characteristics is a more important factor than the frequency of the mode. The parameter estimation method of this paper can directly estimate modes and parameters, indicating the characteristics of a dynamic system, on the basis of the Fourier transform of the time series data. Real part of a mode estimates by subtracting a frequency of the Fourier spectrum corresponding to 0.707 of a magnitude of the peak spectrum from a peak frequency, or subtracting a frequency of the power spectrum corresponding to 0.5 of the peak power spectrum from a peak frequency, or comparing the Fourier(power) spectrum ratio. Also, the residue and phase of time signal calculate by simple equation with the real part of the mode and the power spectrum that have been calculated. Accordingly, the proposed algorithm is advantageous in that it can estimate parameters of the system through a single DFT without repeatedly calculating a DFT, thus shortening the time required to estimate the parameters.

  • In the substations for traction systems and the large-scale discharging system of secondary batteries, the voltage of DC bus line goes up by the regenerated energy and the energy is usually wasted in resistor for system stability. This paper proposes the DC power regenerating system using a three phase PWM inverter. The proposed system can regenerate the excessive DC power from DC bus line to AC supply and control the power factor of AC supply to unity. To implement unity power factor, the magnitude of the inverter output voltage should be higher than that of AC supply and therefore SVPWM technique is adopted. Computer simulations are carried out to verify the validity of the proposed system.
