모듈기반 퍼스널 로봇의 결함 허용 지원을 위한 네트워크 연결 유지 관리 기법 (Method of network connection management in module based personal robot for fault-tolerant)

  • Middleware offers function that user application program can transmit data independently of network device. Connection management about network connection of module is important for normal service of module base personal robot. Unpredictable network disconnection is influenced to whole robot performance in module base personal robot. For this, Middleware must be offer two important function. The first is function of error detection and reporting about abnormal network disconnection. Therefore, middleware need method for network error detection and module management to consider special quality that each network device has. The second is the function recovering that makes the regular service possible. When the module closed from connection reconnects, as this service reports connection state of the corresponding module, the personal robot resumes the existing service. In this paper proposed method of network connection management for to support fault tolerant about network error of network module based personal robot.

  • Many distributed applications is developed in various environment such as operating system, software platform. So, they exhibit different types of system behavior, status, during the course of their operation. Each such behavior may have different functional and non-functional requirements. Therefore, many distributed application need to fault-tolerance solution. Personal robot provide various service or application. Because personal robot has many application or service, it need to fault-tolerance architecture. A flexible architecture is required to provide dependability. In this paper, it is suggested a fault-tolerant architecture for module-based personal robot with module fault-tolerance, service fault-tolerance.

  • The purpose of this study is to ethical review on the development and service with care assistance robot. An integrative review concept analysis method was used. We analyzed the classification and role of service robots, the concept of the robot ethic and the care ethic. And there were derived the development and service about care assistance robot in ethical viewpoint. For improving current care problem, government had support to developing four types care assistance robots. But there were provided carefully care service due to the limitations of robot technology and lack of overall social awareness with care robot. In addition, in order to be successfully application in the field, care assistance robots were developed to provide high-quality care service that can consider to personal culture and living environment with the development of artificial intelligence and robot technology, as well as ethical care service.

  • In this paper we present the guideline to evaluate the easiness of using personal robots and their learning abilities based on the analysis of their built-in commands, user interfaces, and intelligences. Recently, we are breathing with robots that can be able to do lots of roles. cleaning, security, pets and education in real life. They can be classified as home robots, guide robots, service robots, robot pets, and so on. There are, however, no standards to evaluate their ability, so it is not easy to select an appropriate robot when a user wants to buy it. Thus, we present, as a guideline that can be a standard for the evaluation of the personal robots, the standards by means of analyzing existing personal robots and results of the recent research works. We will, also, describe how to apply the evaluation method th the personal robot.

  • 현대 사회의 사회적 문제를 위한 대안으로 소셜로봇이 주목받고 있으며 소셜로봇의 효율적 관리를 위해 모듈화의 필요성이 제기되었다. 본 연구는 '개인용 소셜 서비스 로봇'의 개념을 재정립하고 이에 적용하기 위한 새로운 모듈화 방식을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 소셜 로봇과 서비스 로봇의 정의와 로봇의 모듈화에 대한 문헌연구를 수행하였다. 기존 서비스 로봇의 모듈화 사례를 분석하여 소셜 서비스 로봇의 모듈화에 적용하기 위한 고려사항을 도출하고 이를 바탕으로 새로운 모듈화 방안을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 모듈의 전기/전자적 부품 여부에 따라 액티브 모듈과 패시브 모듈로 구분하고, 액티브 모듈은 다시 로봇의 기본형과 교체형에 따라 기본 모듈, 추가 모듈로 분류했다. 이러한 방안이 적용된 실제 로봇의 프로토타입을 제작하는 것으로 모듈화를 검증하였다.

사용자와의 지속적 관계 유지를 위한 인공생명체 로봇 시스템 (Robotic system as artificial creatures for long-term relationship with users)

  • For the personal robot to serve humans as a companion in our daily life, it is obviously important that the robot should have a long-term relationship to users. In this paper, we introduce a simple idea on how to make the long-term relationship by using just low-cost and simple robots. We also describe the robotic artificial creature system to implement this idea. The artificial creature robots respond not only physical environment changes but also the logical information changes in the virtual world such as the Web. They consist of a control robot and several simple robots, which show users various group behaviors. Users have a relationship with them by observing these behaviors, rather than interacting with them. We separate physical robots and software applications in order that artificial creature robots can have more various behaviors made by various software applications. Finally, we implemented the system using a robot simulator to show some example cases.

  • 최근 4차산업 혁명의 도래와 함께 플랫폼 비즈니스의 중요성이 더욱 커지고 있다. 높은 시장 가치를 지닌 글로벌 기업들은 대부분 플랫폼 기업으로 알려져 있다. 이러한 변화는 다양한 산업에 있는 기업들의 비즈니스 모델에 변화를 주고 있다. 하지만, 기존의 연구들은 주로 정보 집약적 산업과 대기업을 중심으로 이루어져 왔다. 이에 본 연구는 신생산업이라고 볼 수 있는 서비스용 로봇 산업에서 성공적으로 성장하고 있는 에브리봇 사례를 분석하였다. 에브리봇은 로봇청소기를 판매하는 기업으로 알려져 있으나, 자율주행기술에 초점을 두고 제품 중심이 아닌 플랫폼 중심의 비즈니스를 영위함으로써 장기적 성장을 도모하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 연구결과는 국내 중소로봇기업이 개인서비스용 로봇시장에서 리더십을 가지고 장기적으로 성장하기 위해 어떻게 제품 중심이 아닌 플랫폼 중심 비즈니스 전략을 적용하는지 보여줌으로써 이론적 실무적 시사점을 가진다.

모듈기반 퍼스널 로봇을 위한 미들웨어 구조 (Middleware Structure for Module-based Personal Robot)

  • This paper proposes a middleware structure for the module-based personal robot, which can run on heterogeneous network interfaces and provides users easy interface-method regardless of underlying heterogeneous interfaces and convenient exchange of modules. The proposed middleware is divided into three layers of a streaming layer (SL), a network adaptation layer (NAL) and a network interface layer (NIL). The streaming layer manages application transactions using middleware services and provides user a uniform interfaces to the proposed middleware. The network adaptation layer manages a message-routing and provides naming service and it is a core of the proposed middleware. And the network interfaces layer manages dependent parts of heterogeneous network interfaces such as IEEE1394, USB, Ethernet, and CAN (Control Area Network). This paper implements the proposed middleware structure, where 3 types of interfaces of IEEE 1394, USB and Ethernet are used, and measures response times among those interfaces.

승마용 헬스 케어 로봇 시스템과 신체 상태 지수 관리기술 (Development of Riding Robot System and Body State Index for Healthcare Service)

  • This paper describe the riding robot system named by "RideBot" which is a riding robot like as a horse. In order to simulate the riding motions, we develope the saddle mechanism which can generate 3 DOF motions including pitch, roll, and bounce movement, and also we controlled the riding motions and the intention of horseman. To generate the riding motions with the bodily sensation, we developed Novel Washout Filter and the algorithms for motion control. And also, we developed some health care service for the health care of horseman. A body state index was proposed that evaluates the personal health state from both the measured physiological variables and the surveyed questions. The physiological variables such as weight, blood pressure, heart rate variability (HRV), accelerated state photoplethysmograph(APG), body fat, and happiness index were measured by the specially designed bio-handle system and survey questions. The efficiency of the proposed ride robot is evaluated in the experiments.
