  • In this paper, the system-level performance is evaluated for the feedback scheme on the pre-coding matrix index (PMI) and channel quality indication (CQI), which are required for user selection in the multi-user MIMO system. Our analysis demonstrates that the number of users, the number of selected users, and codebook size are the key factors that govern the performance of the best companion grouping (BCG)-based user scheduling. Accordingly, we have confirmed that the probability of forming the co-scheduled user group is determined by these factors, which implies that the number of PMI's and codebook size can be dynamically determined so as to maximize the average system throughput as the number of users varies in the cell.

  • Building accurate corporate bankruptcy prediction models has been one of the most important research issues in finance. Recently, support vector machines (SVMs) are popularly applied to bankruptcy prediction because of its many strong points. However, in order to use SVM, a modeler should determine several factors by heuristics, which hinders from obtaining accurate prediction results by using SVM. As a result, some researchers have tried to optimize these factors, especially the feature subset and kernel parameters of SVM But, there have been no studies that have attempted to determine appropriate instance subset of SVM, although it may improve the performance by eliminating distorted cases. Thus in the study, we propose the simultaneous optimization of the instance selection as well as the parameters of a kernel function of SVM by using genetic algorithms (GAs). Experimental results show that our model outperforms not only conventional SVM, but also prior approaches for optimizing SVM.

  • When the input features are generated by factors in a classification problem, it is more meaningful to identify important factors, rather than individual features. The $F_{\infty}$-norm support vector machine(SVM) has been developed to perform automatic factor selection in classification. However, the $F_{\infty}$-norm SVM may suffer from estimation inefficiency and model selection inconsistency because it applies the same amount of shrinkage to each factor without assessing its relative importance. To overcome such a limitation, we propose the adaptive $F_{\infty}$-norm ($AF_{\infty}$-norm) SVM, which penalizes the empirical hinge loss by the sum of the adaptively weighted factor-wise $L_{\infty}$-norm penalty. The $AF_{\infty}$-norm SVM computes the weights by the 2-norm SVM estimator and can be formulated as a linear programming(LP) problem which is similar to the one of the $F_{\infty}$-norm SVM. The simulation studies show that the proposed $AF_{\infty}$-norm SVM improves upon the $F_{\infty}$-norm SVM in terms of classification accuracy and factor selection performance.

  • Non-esterified bio-diesel fuel saves cost by no esterified process and its performance was more similar to diesel oil than esterified bio-diesel fuel when the fuel blended 95% diesel oil and 5% it was used on diesel engine with electronic control system. A performance optimization is necessary for application of non-esterified bio-diesel fuel blended with diesel oil 95% on the latest diesel engine. In this study, test using fractional factorial design was accomplished at 25% and 50% partial load in order to evaluate influence of controllable 6 factors on responses such as specific fuel consumption, nitrogen oxides and coefficiency of variation of indicated mean effective pressure as basic experiment for performance optimization of this fuel. It is cleared that the injection timing and common rail pressure of 6 factors are mainly effective and its effect level is different according to load.

  • The embedded systems commonly equip a file system as default to keep data. This file system is mostly constructed with flash memory as the price get lower and the performance get higher. Types of the file system implemented on the flash memory are various according to types of embedded operating systems. By the way, as the embedded systems increasingly depend on the file system, a selection of the file system type of the embedded systems influences the performance of the entire system. This thesis discusses the factors to influence the performance of entire system in construction of file system and selection of the types, and discusses the research results.

  • This research aims to analyze the importance-performance among airline selection attributes using foreign tourists. For this purpose, data were collected from Japanese and Chinese tourists to Korea. Of the various airline selection attributes, four factors were deduced that includes: transport service, accompany service, cabin service and basic service using exploratory factor analysis. This study estimated how important airline selection attributes are and how much are they performed. Also, this study analyzed the ranking among each selection attributes using T-test. The importance-performance analysis showed 'Concentrate Here' in quadrant I, 'Keep up the Good Work' in quadrant II, 'Low Priority' in quadrant III and 'Possible Overkill' in quadrant IV. Quadrant I specifically showed low performance in terms of the following specific attributes: communicative convenience, flight attendant's friendliness, seating preference. As these attributes are deemed significant, airline managers should focus along these areas.

  • The Study on the Influence of Selection factors of Franchise System and Franchisee's Satisfaction in the Food Service Franchise Industry. Franchisors can use franchisee selection criteria as a key input control to enhance the outcomes of their future franchisees. A business technique based on long term contractual arrangements between two legally independent businesses and relying on certain inputs from both parties for success and survival has significant potential for conflict. Furthermore, with many independent small businesses falling to reach their full potential, it is important to evaluate franchising as an alternative system of business management and to identify the characteristics of franchisor and franchisees which contribute to the satisfactory operation of a franchised small business. Thus, the objective of this study was to investigate a possible relationship between franchisee satisfaction and certain characteristics of the franchisor and of the franchisees themselves. In accordance with results of a hypothesis verification, a Selection factors of Franchise affects positively a Franchisee's Business Satisfaction.

  • In decode and forward relay systems, choosing the duplex mode is an important factor to the performance. To satisfy the performance requirement, self-interference must be mitigated for the full-duplex relay (FDR), and the resource efficiency must be increased for the half-duplex ratio (HDR). Therefore, if a wise scheme to consider these two factors exists, decode and forward relay systems are used more effectively. This study proposes a new duplex selection scheme for decode and forward relay systems. The proposed duplex selection scheme chooses the better duplex mode according to the channel statistical conditions with optimal power allocation. The simulation results show that the proposed duplex scheme with optimal power allocation has lower outage probability than the FDR and the HDR.

  • Animal reproductive performance could be affected by several regulatory factors, including nutritional, environmental, and genetic factors. Particularly, during the last half of this century, animal reproductive performance has been remarkably successful in improving the efficiency of livestock production. For some traits efficiency gains have been achieved with little or no knowledge of the genes underlying the traits. And, they have depended upon the phenotypic selection by statistical methods to estimate the genetic parameters of some reproductive traits. In spite of these successes, it is clear that recent advances in both developmental biology and molecular biology are set to revolutionize he practice of animal reproductive performance n the 21th century.
