인텔 펜티엄 4와 코어2 듀오의 실행시간과 파워소모량 효율성 비교 (The power consumption and performance comparison between Intel Pentium 4 and Core2 Duo)

  • 프로세서의 설계 시 여러 가지 요소를 고려해야 하는데 특히 에너지, 파워 소모, 그리고 성능은 가장 기본적으로 고려해야 할 요소들이다. 이들 요소는 서로 상충되는 측면이 있기 때문에 프로세서의 설계 시에 설계 목적에 따라 어느 한 요소에 가중치를 주기도 한다. 본 논문에서는 펜티엄 4와 코어2 듀오의 정성적, 정량적 비교를 통해서 각 프로세서의 특성을 알아보고 실제 벤치마크를 실행시켰을 때 어떤 프로세서가 어떠한 측면에서 더 나은지 비교해보았다. 실제 프로세서의 성능 계수기를 통해서 파워, 에너지 소모를 fl산하였고 성능은 실행 시간으로 측정하였다. 결과로 코어2 듀오가 더 적은 에너지와 파워를 소모하는 것으로 나타났고, 성능 면에서도 펜티엄 4에 비해 나은 성능을 보여주었다. 그러나. 펜티엄 4에 최적화되어 컴파일 되어있던 bzip2의 경우 펜티엄 4가 에너지, 파워, 성능 면에서 코어2 듀오에 비해 월등하였다.

A Security Metrics Taxonomization Model for Software-Intensive Systems

  • We introduce a novel high-level security metrics objective taxonomization model for software- intensive systems. The model systematizes and organizes security metrics development activities. It focuses on the security level and security performance of technical systems while taking into account the alignment of metrics objectives with different business and other management goals. The model emphasizes the roles of security-enforcing mechanisms, the overall security quality of the system under investigation, and secure system lifecycle, project and business management. Security correctness, effectiveness and efficiency are seen as the fundamental measurement objectives, determining the directions for more detailed security metrics development. Integration of the proposed model with riskdriven security metrics development approaches is also discussed.

압축착화 디젤엔진의 모사 EGR 시스템에 의한 소음 특성 변화 분석 (Study on Noise Generation Characteristics of Simulated EGR System for Compression Ignition Diesel Engine)

  • Experimental study was conducted to investigate the effect of EGR(exhaust gas recirculation) on engine noise using single cylinder combustion ignition engine. Under constant engine rotary speed of 1200 RPM, 8 mg fuel quantity was injected with 15, 18 and 21% of oxygen ratio and 1400 bar of injection pressure. Using the in-cylinder pressure data acquired by a piezoelectric transducer, the engine performance parameters were calculated. Radiated engine noise measured for 10 seconds was analyzed using spectral characteristics and sound quality metrics such as loudness, sharpness, roughness. From the obtained engine performance parameters and sound quality metrics, effect of oxygen ratio of the premixed air, start of injection timing on frequency characteristic and sound quality metrics were analyzed. Correlation analysis was conducted between MPRR(maximum pressure rise rate), RI(ringing intensity) and sound quality metrics. RI was identified as the most important factor having influence on the sound quality metrics.

Performance Analysis of Multi-hop Wireless Networks under Different Hopping Strategies with Spatial Diversity

  • This paper derives two main end-to-end performance metrics, namely the spatial capacity density and the average end-to-end delay of the multi-hop wireless ad hoc networks with multi-antenna communications. Based on the closed-form expressions of these performance metrics, three hopping strategies, i.e., the closest neighbor, the furthest neighbor and the randomly selected neighbor hopping strategies have been investigated. This formulation provides insights into the relations among node density, diversity gains, number of hops and some other network design parameters which jointly determine network performances, and a method of choosing the best hopping strategy which can be formulated from a network design perspective.

정보체계 운영 아웃소싱에 있어서의 서비스 수준 측정 메트릭 (SLA (Service Level Agreement) Metrics in IT Operation Outsourcing)

  • 정보체계를 아웃소싱 하는데 있어서 서비스 의뢰자와 제공자 모두가 이해하고 동의할 수 있는 합리적인 서비스수준측정 메트릭(SLM, Service Level Metric)이 있어야 하며 이를 기초로 서비스수준목표(SLA, Service Level Objective)가 세워지고 서비스수준협약(SLA, Service Level Agreement)이 작성되어야 한다. SLM에 대한 연구가 필요한 이유로는 첫째, 아웃소싱 당사자들간의 불만족에도 불구하고 컴퓨터가 도입된 초창기의 메트릭들이 아직도 사용되고 있어서 메트릭 자체에 대한 검토가 필요하다 둘째, 시스템 구성요소의 가용성이나 사용을 등을 표현하는 SLM은 있으나 사용자(end-user)의 만족도를 표현하는 SLM이 없다. 셋째, 아웃소싱 계약이 대개 서비스제공자가 주도하므로 SLO 및 SLM이 제공자에게 유리하게 작성되는 경우가 많아서 의뢰자도 인정할 수 있는 메트릭이 필요하다. 아웃소싱이 성공하기 위해서는 서비스 의뢰자와 제공자가 자신의 역할을 잘 인식해야 하고 양자간의 관계가 정립되어 있어야 하며 서로에게 기대하는 것이 무엇인지를 명확히 해야 한다. 또한 이러한 상호간의 기대치는 정량적인 수치인 메트릭으로 표현되어야 한다.

  • 네트워크 및 종단 노드의 시스템에 걸친 제한된 자원을 활용하여 실현되는 영상/음성 전달 서비스를 위한 멀티미디어 응용 프로그램의 품질을 보장하기 위해서는 지연, 지터, 손실과 같은 전송 상태와 CPU, 메모리의 사용량과 같은 시스템의 상태를 동시에 관찰하는 것이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 액세스그리드 (Access Grid) 경우와 같이 IP 멀티캐스트 상에 동작하는 RTP/RTCP에 기반한 실시간 미디어 응용 프로그램을 대상으로 동적/정적 모니터링 방식을 혼용하여 멀티캐스트 상태와 시스템 상태를 측정하는 혼성 모니터링 방식을 제안한다. 또한 종단간 전송 품질이 저하된 경우 제안한 모니터링 방식에서 측정된 결과를 비교/분석하여 품질 저하의 원인을 판단하고 원인에 적합한 대응방안을 연계하고i라 한다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 네트워크/시스템의 상태 변화에 적응적인 영상/음성 전송 서비스의 가능성을 타진하고 종단간 전송 품질 저하 방지를 위한 효과를 예상한다.

  • Large software systems are being produced with a noticeably higher level of quality with component-based software engineering (CBSE), which places a strong emphasis on breaking down engineered systems into logical or functional components with clearly defined interfaces for inter-component communication. The component-based software engineering is applicable for the commercial products of open-source software. Software metrics play a major role in application development which improves the quantitative measurement of analyzing, scheduling, and reiterating the software module. This methodology will provide an improved result in the process, of better quality and higher usage of software development. The major concern is about the software complexity which is focused on the development and deployment of software. Software metrics will provide an accurate result of software quality, risk, reliability, functionality, and reusability of the component. The proposed metrics are used to assess many aspects of the process, including efficiency, reusability, product interaction, and process complexity. The details description of the various software quality metrics that may be found in the literature on software engineering. In this study, it is explored the advantages and disadvantages of the various software metrics. The topic of component-based software engineering is discussed in this paper along with metrics for software quality, object-oriented metrics, and improved performance.

Development of Evaluation System for Defense Informatization Level

  • There is a description that you cannot manage what you do not measure. The Korea Ministry of National Defense (MND) is conducting evaluations in various fields to obtain meaningful effects from IT investments, and views that the evaluation of the defense informatization sector is divided into defense informatization policy evaluation and defense informatization project evaluation. The defense informatization level evaluation can measure the informatization level of MND and the armed forces or organizations. Since the evaluation system being studied to measure the level of defense informatization is composed mainly of qualitative metrics, it is necessary to reconstruct it based on quantitative metrics that can guarantee objectivity. In addition, for managing the level of change by evaluation objects, the evaluation system should be designed with a focus on homeostasis of metrics so that it can be measured periodically. Moreover, metrics need to be promoted in terms of performance against targets. To this end, this study proposes to measure the level of defense informatization by dividing it into defense information network, computer systems, interoperability and standardization, information security, information environment, and information system use, and suggests their metrics.

Utilizing Usability Metrics to Evaluate a Subway Map Design

  • Objective: This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of two representative subway map design types, namely a diagram type and a geographical type using physiological metrics, performance metrics, and self-reported metrics, which are representative usability metrics. Background: Subway maps need to be designed in order for users to quickly search and recognize subway line information. Although most cities' subway maps currently use the diagram type designed by Henry Beck, New York City's subway map has recently been changed to the subway map type combined with the geographical type designed by Michael Hertz. However, not many studies on its efficiency are found, and the studies that are available mainly depend on questionnaire surveys or take on a subjective behavioral study type based on experts' experiences. In this regard, evaluation through a more objective method is needed. Method: This study employed usability metrics as a method to evaluate the efficiency of information search targeting the diagram type and geographical type subway maps used mostly as subway maps. To this end, physiological metrics obtained through eye tracking, task completion time, representative metric of task performance, and subjective evaluation metrics were used for the suitability evaluation of subway map designs. Results: In the result of gaze movement distance analysis, no significant difference was shown in the two design types in terms of a process finding a departure station from the starting point and a process finding a transfer station between the departure station and arrival station (destination). However, the gaze movement distance in the process finding the arrival station at the departure station was significantly shorter in the geographical type, rather than in the diagram type. The analysis of task completion time showed a result similar to the gaze movement distance analysis result. Task completion time was significantly shorter in the geographical type, rather than in the diagram type, which is in the process finding the arrival station at the departure station. In other information search processes, no significant difference was shown. As a result of subjective evaluation metrics analysis, no significant difference was revealed in the two design types. Conclusion: An analysis on the two representative subway map design types was carried out via the adoption of usability metrics. As a result, although no significant difference was shown in some information search processes, it was revealed that information search was easier in the geographical type overall. Also, it was found that usability metrics can be effectively used to evaluate the design types of subway maps. Application: The study results can be used to set design direction to offer ease in information search on subway lines. The study also can be used as a method to evaluate a subway map's design type.

건설산업의 녹색교통 성과지표 적용성 (Applicability of Green Transportation Performance Index in the Construction Industry)

  • 최근 에너지 소비 증가, 화석연료 사용의 증가로 인해 기후관련 정책이 논의 되고 있다. 건설 산업에서도 이산화탄소 배출량 감소와 녹색 건설을 위한 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 기존 문헌 조사와 전문가 설문조사를 통하여 교통 시설물의 친환경 성과를 비교 분석 할 수 있는 지표를 제시하였다. 지표는 경제적, 사회적, 환경적 성과지표로 구분하였으며, 경제적 지표 14개, 사회적 지표 10개, 환경적 지표 12개를 제시하였다. 도출된 지표의 적용 가능성을 검증하기 위해 건설 산업에 종사하는 실무자를 대상으로 설문조사를 통해 각 지표별로 관련성, 명확성, 적시성, 비교가능성, 자료획득 가능성을 평가하였다. 그리고 제시된 지표의 활용을 위한 방안을 제시하였다.
