  • In this paper, we propose a performance improvement of the LwF method using efficient path selection in Continuous Learning Environment. We compare performance and structure with conventional LwF. For comparison, we experiment with performance using MNIST, EMNIST, Fashion MNIST, and CIFAR10 data with different complexity configurations. Experiments show up to 20% improvement in accuracy for each task, which mitigating the Catastrophic Forgetting phenomenon in Continuous Learning environments.

  • The performance improvement in the high speed region for the sensorless based synchronous machine drive is discussed in the paper. Conventional dynamic overmodulation method in the vector controlled AC driver requires some calculation of maximum amplitude of the applying voltage vector to limit its amplitude, which leads to increase the calculation time of microprocessor. For low performance microprocessor, this might be impossible to complete the control loop within limited control time. Thus, to reduce the calculation time, the constantly limited amplitude for applying voltage vector is tried in this paper to drive sensorless based synchronous motor. Certainly, there exists some errors in amplitude and phase angle between inverter voltage and calculating voltage in the sensorless algorithm. But, this errors are too small to prevent the high speed sensorless operation within overmodulation region. The validities of the proposed method is proved by the experimental results.

  • The Republic of Korea has a close cooperative relationship with NATO, of which the United States is a member. NATO is encouraged to follow UHF coalition waveforms for military air operations(SATURN) as defined in STANAG 4372. SATURN is a high-speed frequency hopping waveform with enhanced anti-jamming and security functions. Plans to improve the performance of existing military aircraft with air to ground radios to which SATURN function is applied. IFF case analysis and MRT evaluation plan were established to present an efficient test and evaluation plan for air to ground radios.

  • This paper presents a study on construction safety in the People Democratic Republic of Laos (PDRL). Fifty workers experienced certain injuries in their construction sites and 15 top managers were interviewed in twenty-six construction projects in Vientiane, the capital of PDRL. Research results show that stepping on and/or striking against objects (48%), struck by falling objects (24%), falling of persons (12%) are major types of construction injuries. The paper stresses that the ignorance of top managers about their crucial role in safety improvement, using safety incentive to raise safety performance, lack of thorough understanding about benefit from labor safety performance, and the willingness to cut off safety performance expenditures is considered as obstructions of safety improvement programs. The survey indicates that physical working conditions, relationship among workers, foremen behaviors and the monthly wage were influencing factors to worker's job satisfaction. The study also highlights afternoon as dominant time that led to a large number of injuries.

  • A SATA hard disk has been widely used in recent years and NCQ is one of its crucial features. Despite the development from IDE to SATA disk, there is still much room for improvement for a SATA disk. In addition, until now a hard disk is a black box to us and it is very hard to make research at the level of a disk controller. To enhance the performance of NCQ, we try to do I/O clustering over the requests, which combines multiple sequential requests into a single large one. To evaluate the effect of an I/O clustering mechanism, we created a simple but practical SATA hard disk simulator. Experimental results show that the proposed approach is effective in enhancing the I/O performance of a SATA disk.

  • Due to the increased use of digital maps in the construction industry, there is a growing demand for high-quality digital map analysis. With the large amounts of data found in digital maps at earthwork sites, there is a particular need to enhance the accuracy and speed of digital map analysis. To address this issue, our study aims to develop new technology and verify its performance to address non-ground and range mismatch issues that commonly arise. Additionally, our study presents a new digital map analysis framework for earthwork sites that utilizes three newly developed technologies to improve the performance of digital map analysis. Through this, it achieved about 95% improvement in analysis performance compared to the existing framework. This study is expected to contribute to the improvement of the quality of digital map analysis data of earthworks.

  • Organic ferroelectric material found vast application in a verity of engineering and health technology fields. In the present study, we investigated the application of the deformable organic ferroelectric in motion measurement and improving performance in tennis players. Flexible ferroelectric material P(VDF-TrFE) could be used in wearable motion sensors in tennis player transferring velocity and acceleration data to collecting devises for analyzing the best pose and movements in tennis players to achieve best performances in terms of hitting ball and movement across the tennis court. In doing so, ferroelectric-based wearable sensors are used in four different locations on the player body to analyze the movement and also a sensor on the tennis ball to record the velocity and acceleration. In addition, poses of tennis players were analyzed to find out the best pose to achieve best acceleration and movement. The results indicated that organic ferroelectric-based sensors could be used effectively in sensing motion of tennis player which could be utilized in the optimization of posing and ball hitting in the real games.

  • In order to achieve structural performance such as rebar clear spacing in the reinforced concrete structure construction, coupler splicing joints are becoming common. To confirm the performance of rebar splicing joints, quality verification is being carried out through coupler specimen tests. However, it can be said that the required performance is reached only when the actual construction in the field is constructed under the same conditions as the coupler splicing joint specimen. Therefore, the problems and solutions of the coupler splicing joint construction of the actual field was investigated in this study.

  • Pipe support is a representative structure that supports slab formwork, and it is a representative temporary equipment that has been systematically managed since the 1990s when the domestic temporary equipment performance test system was introduced. Nevertheless, it is also a reality that many of the products in circulation are used products that are reused and do not meet the performance of the initial manufacturing stage. However, if only new products are insisted, it could lead to delays in the process due to an increase in construction costs and difficulties in timely delivery. On the contrary, it is not acceptable for the safety of the construction site to use products of low quality without verification procedures or standards. Therefore, this study attempts to grasp the management system such as safety certification for temporary equipment and the actual condition of quality control to maintain performance, and propose improvement plans.

  • Recently, the sixth generation (6G) networks have become tremendous research topics. Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) technologies have been envisioned, to increase spectrum and energy efficiency for the fifth generation (5G) mobile networks, towards the sixth generation (6G) communications. In this paper, especially for the strongest channel gain user, we investigate the bit-error rate (BER) of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems with intelligent reflecting surface (IRS). First, we derive a BER expression in a closed-form of Q functions. Second, we investigate the BER performance improvement of IRS NOMA systems over NOMA systems versus the power allocation. Moreover, we analyze the BER performance improvement of IRS NOMA systems over NOMA systems versus the number of IRS devices. In results, NOMA equipped with IRS technologies could play an important role in the paradigm shift from 5G mobile networks to 6G mobile networks.
