  • For mechanical and electrical stability and environment protection. Cu and stainless steel stabilizers are laminated to a Ag layer to produce a composite neutral-axis(N-A) architecture in which the YBCO layer is centered between the oxide buffered metallic substrate and stabilizer strip lamination. This architecture allows the wire to meet operational requirements including stresses at cryogenic temperature. winding tensions as well as mechanical bending requirements including thermal and electrical stability under fault current conditions. We have experimentally studied mechanical properties of the laminated stainless steel and Cu stabilizers on YBCO coated conductors. We have laminated YBCO coated conductors by continuous dipping soldering process. We have investigated lamination interface between solder and stabilizer of the YBCO coated conductor. We evaluated bonding properties. tensile / shear bonding strength. and peeling strength laminated YBCO coated conductors.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of seaweed peeling (SP), glycolic acid peeling (GP) and general scrub (GS), which are widely known as cures for acne in both medicine and esthetics on the keratosis pilaris skin and provide basic data for a keratosis pilaris improvement program. For the experiment, subjects were categorized into control (GS) and experimental (GP and SP) groups, and tests were performed on arms and legs with relatively high keratosis pilaris symptoms (5 parts for each group) for 6 weeks. The keratin quantity, sebum content, moisture level and pigmentation were measured before and after (2, 4 and 6 weeks) the experiment and comparatively analyzed. The GP group showed an increase in moisture level (t=-4.064, p<0.01) but a decrease in pigmentation (t=3.536, p<0.01), while a decrease in keratin quantity (t=2.370, p<0.05) and pigmentation (t=4.017, p<0.01) was observed in the SP group and a decrease in keratin quantity (t=2.834, p<0.05) and an increase in moisture level (t=-7.589, p<0.001) was observed in the control group (GS). Additionally, the skin irritation reaction was lowest in the GS group. The SP group had the highest satisfaction with the improvement in response to keratosis pilaris care. When asked if they were willing to get the treatment with the same product, both SP and GP groups were high. In other words, keratosis pilaris care was needed in both experimental and control groups. Overall, the results of this study indicate that SP, GP and GS, which are commonly used in remedying acne, normalize turnover cycle by removing the dead cells from around the pores and improve keratosis pilaris symptoms by increasing moisture in the skin. Therefore, to improve keratosis pilaris skin, it is important to keep removing keratin and using a moisturizer that provides a skin barrier on a regular basis. The results presented herein will be useful as basic data for a keratosis pilaris improvement program.

  • BACKGROUND: This study was conducted to investigate the levels of pesticide residues in fruits and to assess their risk to human health. METHODS AND RESULTS: Monitoring of 215 samples of fruits collected from local markets in incheon during 2013 was performed. 259 pesticides were analyzed by multi-residue method and Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, and safe/Mass/Mass(QuEChERS/MS/MS) method using Gas Chromatography-Electron Capture Detector/Nitrogen Phosphorus Detector(GC-ECD/NPD), GC-MS, LC(Liquid Chromatography-Mass/Mass(LC-MS/MS) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography-Photodiode Array/Fluorescence Detector(HPLC-PDA/FLD). In 56.3% of the samples detected pesticide residues and were not found to exceed Maximum Residue Limits(MRL). The highest detected samples were found in citrus fruits(83.9%). Among the detected compounds, carbendazim(13.1%), imazalil (11.7%), thiabendazole(10.7%) and fludioxonil(9.8%) were frequently found in fruits. A risk assessment of pesticide residues in fruits was performed by calculating Estimated Daily Intake(EDI) and Acceptable Daily Intake(ADI). Also, we were evaluated removal efficiency of pesticide residues by washing and peeling. The removal efficiency of pesticide residues in citrus and tropical fruits by peeling processes were 91.6%. After the washing process, the removal rates were 43.1%(Cherry, Grape, Blueberry). CONCLUSION: The level of pesticide residues in fruits was within the MRL. The range of %ADI values was from 0.00011 to 0.98795%. The process of washing or peeling reduces the level of pesticide residues. The results of this research concluded that the detected pesticides are not harmful to human being.

  • Organic materials such as composted rice-hull, saw dust, and pine bark, and inorganic materials such as vermiculite, perlite, and recycled rockwool were commonly employed as container media in domestic greenhouse industry. The objective of this research was to get informations in soil physico chemical properties of those materials. Composted dry-peeling bark and wet-peeling bark had 72.1% and 69.1%, respectively, in particles larger than 1.0 mm, which were much higher than 34.7% of composted rice-hull and 33.7% of composted saw dust. Imported vermiculite had 89.9%, but domestic vermiculite had 25.7% in particles larger than 1 mm. In soil physical properties, Russian peat had the highest container capacity of 79.3%, and wet-peeling bark had the lowest container capacity of 58.2%. However, Russian peat and composted saw-dust had 4.1% in air space indicating that possible problems could occur in soil aeration when those are employed for container grown crops. Saw dust had $2.3mS{\cdot}cm^{-1}$ in electrical conductivity, while other composted organic materials had less than $0.25mS{\cdot}cm^{-1}$. Imported vermiculite had 64.0 meq/100 g in cation exchange capacity, which was 2.4 times higher than those of domestic vermiculite, 27.2 meq/100 g. Domestic vermiculite had higher Ca and Mg and less Na contents than those of imported vermiculite.

  • This study was investigated the changes in quality of peeled chestnut according to peeling method, including abrasion and knife, and 3 kinds of storage temperatures. The weight loss rate of peeled chestnut during storage period was observed in all treatment groups, peeling methods showed no difference of the loss. However, the moisture content of peeled chestnut during storage in all treatments showed a tendency to decrease. Moisture content of the abrasion peeled chestnut in all treatments was higher than that of the knife peeled chestnut. In the case of a, b, and ${\Delta}E$ value of peeled chestnut chromaticity increased during storage in all treatments, whereas, L values decreased during storage. But, browning of abrasion peeled chestnut was higher than that of the knife peeled chestnut. The hardness of the abrasion and knife peeled chestnuts were the highest in $-1^{\circ}C$ storage, soluble solid content was decreased with storage time in all treatments, but showed a tendency to increase within 24 days. Palatability and texture of peeled chestnuts decreased in all treatments during storage period, 15 days after storage decreased rapidly. Thus, results showed that peeled chestnuts stored at $4^{\circ}C$ and $2^{\circ}C$ were rapidly decreased in the quality after 15 days, whereas, peeled chestnuts stored at $-1^{\circ}C$ slowly decrease in the fruit quality. It can be recommended that chestnut in vacuum film is good to maintain at $-1^{\circ}C$ storage for 15 days. Also, if we can reduce the browning of abrasion peeled chestnut, we will produce peeled chestnut of high quality.

  • The Sinamsa Temple was built in the late Goryeo Dynasty and a gilt-bronze seated Buddha is enshrined in Geungnakjeon hall in the precinct. Various damages occurred in the gilt layer of the Buddha, such as peeling of the gilt layer and deteriorating gloss. In the study, the conservation conditions of the inside and outside on the statue were accurately investigated, and the making technique was interpreted through the material characteristics and non-destructive diagnosis of the statue. As a result, it is estimated that gold-gilding layer is pure gold, coloration pigment of black is carbon, green is malachite, atacamite and verdigris, red is red lead and cinnabar, respectively. In the deterioration evaluation, peeling, cracking, break out and exfoliation of the gilt layer are confirmed as damages, but the conservation condition is relatively wholesome. However, the gloss of the gilt layer is calculated to be wider in the poorer part than the maintenance part. The ultrasonic velocity of the statue was calculated to be 1,230 to 3,987 (mean 2,608) m/s and showed a relatively wide range. In infrared thermography, peeling was not confirmed, and no special bonding marks were found. In endoscope, some biological damage and corrosion were observed on the surface of the internal metal, and sealed artifacts were identified. Manufacturing technique based on the study, it is considered that the gilt-bronze seated Buddha was cast at once, and the mold was inverted to inject molten metal.

  • Changes of the properties of waterproof and moisture-permeable nylon fabric were investigated when softener, anti-static agents, anti-biosis agents were added to the polyurethane resin solution, and when they were applied after resin coating. The adding method of finishing agents into polyurethane layer resulted in an increase in water permeability but a severe decrease in peeling strength. It was found that the desired functionality such as softness, anti-staticity, anti-biosis were successfully introduced into waterproof and moisture-permeable nylon fabric by after-treatment of finishing agents.
