Copyright Protection for Fire Video Images using an Effective Watermarking Method (효과적인 워터마킹 기법을 사용한 화재 비디오 영상의 저작권 보호)

  • This paper proposes an effective watermarking approach for copyright protection of fire video images. The proposed watermarking approach efficiently utilizes the inherent characteristics of fire data with respect to color and texture by using a gray level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) and fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering. GLCM is used to generate a texture feature dataset by computing energy and homogeneity properties for each candidate fire image block. FCM is used to segment color of the fire image and to select fire texture blocks for embedding watermarks. Each selected block is then decomposed into a one-level wavelet structure with four subbands [LL, LH, HL, HH] using a discrete wavelet transform (DWT), and LH subband coefficients with a gain factor are selected for embedding watermark, where the visibility of the image does not affect. Experimental results show that the proposed watermarking approach achieves about 48 dB of high peak-signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and 1.6 to 2.0 of low M-singular value decomposition (M-SVD) values. In addition, the proposed approach outperforms conventional image watermarking approach in terms of normalized correlation (NC) values against several image processing attacks including noise addition, filtering, cropping, and JPEG compression.

The Verification of Photoplethysmography Using Green Light that Influenced by Ambient Light (녹색광을 이용한 반사형 광용적맥파측정기의 주변광 간섭시 신호측정)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the utility of reflected photoplethysmography sensor using two green light emitting diodes that influenced by ambient light. Recently it has been studied that green light emitting diode is suitable for light source of reflected photoplethysmography sensor at low temperature and high temperature. Another study showed that, green light is better for monitoring heart rate during motion than led light. However, it has a bad characteristic about ambient light noise. To verify the utility of reflected photoplethysmography sensor using green light emitting diode, this study measures the photoplethysmography signal that is distorted by ambient light and will propose a solution. This study has two parts of research method. One is measurement system that composed sensor and board. The sensor is made up PE-foam and Non-woven fabric for flexible sensor. The photoplethysmography signal is measured by measurement board that composed high-pass filter, low-pass filter and amplifier. Ambient light source is light bulb and white light emitting diode that has three steps brightness. Photoplethysmography signal is measured with lead II electrocardiography signal at the same time and it is measured at the finger and radial artery for 1 minute, 1000 Hz sampling rate. The lead II electrocardiography signal is a standard signal for heart rate and photoplethysmography signal that measured at the finger is a standard signal for waveform. The test is repeated 3 times using three sensor. The data is processed by MATLAB to verify the utility by comparing the correlation coefficient score and heart rate. The photoplethysmography sensor using two green light emitting diodes is shown better utility than using one green light emitting diode and red light emitting diode at the ambient light. The waveform and heart rate that measured by two green light emitting diodes are more identical than others. The amount of electricity used is less than red light emitting diode and error peak detectability factor is the lowest.

Comparison of Cerebral Blood Flow between Patients with Metabolic Syndrome and Normal Group to Evaluate Diagnostic Value of Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound (대사증후군 환자군과 정상군의 뇌혈류 측정 비교를 통한 뇌졸중 위험인자에 대한 TCD의 진단적 가치 고찰)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate diagnostic value of Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound about risk factor of stroke by comparing blood flow between patients with metabolic syndrome(MS group) and Normal group. Methods: 62 metabolic syndrome patients and 106 healthy adults were selected who had no cerebrovascular diseases, cardiovascular diseases and other systemic diseases. We measured the mean velocity(Vm), peak systolic velocity(Vs) and pulsatility index(PI) of MCA, ACA, PCA, VA, ICA in two groups using TCD. All subjects were divided by gender and age. Results: In comparing Ms group with normal group, Vm in the MCA, ACA, PCA, ICA and Vs in the MCA, ICA were lower in MS group. In all vessels, PI of MS group were higher than that of Normal group. In all vessels, Vm and Vs revealed negative correlation with age and PI revealed positive correlation with age. In 20-39 year olds, there was decrease in the Vs and Vm and increase of PI of MS group in comparison with normal group. There was significant difference in the Vm of PCA, ICA, Vs of MCA, PCA, ICA and PI of MCA, ACA. In 40-59 year olds, Vm in the MCA, ACA, ICA and Vs in the MCA, ACA were lower in MS group. PI in the MCA, ACA, PCA, ICA were higher in MS group. In 60-79 year olds, Vm of MCA, PCA, ICA was decreased in MS group than Normal group with no statistical signification. Vs in the MCA was lower and PI in the PCA was higher in MS group. In male, Vm of PCA and Vs of MCA were lower and PI of MCA, ACA, PCA, ICA were higher in MS group. In female, Vm of MCA, PCA, ICA and Vs of MCA, ICA were lower and PI of ACA, PCA, VA, ICA were higher in MS group. Conclusions: The significant difference in Vm, Vs, PI between MS group and normal group suggests hemodynamic disorder. Screening and prognosing high risk group can be done through TCD and this can be used to prevent stroke. More detailed study will be needed.

Study on Growth Optimization of InAs/GaSb Strained-Layer Superlattice Structures by High-Resolution XRD Analysis (고분해능 XRD 분석에 의한 InAs/GaSb 응력초격자 구조의 성장 최적화 연구)

  • For the growth optimization of InAs/GaSb (8/8-ML) strained-layer superlattice (SLS), the structure has been grown under various conditions and modes and characterized by the high-resolution x-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. In this study, the strain modulation is induced by changing parameters and modes, such as the growth temperature, the ratio of V/III beam-equivalent-pressure (BEP), and the growth interruption (GI), and the strain variation is analyzed by measuring the angle separation of 0th-order satellite peak in XRD patterns. The XRD results reveal that the growth temperature and the V/III(Sb/Ga) ratio are major parameters to change the crystallineity and the strain modulation in SLS structures, respectively. We have observed that the SLS samples with compressive strain prepared in this study are show a transition to tensile strain with decreasing V/III(Sb/Ga) ratio, and the GI process is a sensitive factor giving rise to strain modulation. These results obtained in this study suggest that optimized growth temperature and V/III(Sb/Ga) ratio are $350^{\circ}C$ and 20, respectively, and the appropriate GI time is approximately 3 seconds just before InAs growth that the crystallineity is maximized and the strain relaxation is minimized.

Preparation of Nanocomposite Metal Powders in Metal-Carbon System by Mechanical Alloying Process (기계적 합금화 방법에 의한 금속-카본계에서의 나노복합금속분말의 제조)

  • In metal-carbon system with no mutual solubility between matrix and alloying elements as solid or liquid phases, Cu-C-X nanocomposite metal powders were prepared by high energy ball milling for solid-lubricating bronze bearings. Elemental powder mixtures of Cu-lOwt.%C- 5wt. %Fe and Cu- lOwt. %C- 5wt. %Al were mechanically alloyed with an attritor in an argon atmosphere, and then microstructural evolution of the Cu-C-X nanocomposite metal powders was examined. It has been found that after 10 hours of MA, the approximately 10$\mu\textrm{m}$ sized Cu-C- X nanocomposite metal powders can be produced in both compositions. Morphological characteristics and microstructural evolution of the Cu-C-X powders have shown a similar MA procedure compared to those of metal-metal system. As a result of X - ray diffraction analysis, diffraction peaks of Cu and C were broaden and peak intensities were decreased as a function of MA time. Especially, the gradual disappearance of C peaks in the X- ray spectra is proved to be due to the lower atomic scattering factor of C. The calculated Cu crystallite sizes in Cu- C- X nanocomposite metal powders by Williamson- Hall equation were about lOnm size, on the other hand, the observed ones by TEM were in the range of 10 to 30nm.

  • The maximum demand controller is an electrical equipment installed at the consumer side of power system for monitoring the electrical energy consumed during every integrating period and preventing the target maximum demand (MD) being exceeded by disconnecting sheddable loads. By avoiding the peak loads and spreading the energy requirement the controller contributes to maximizing the utility factor of the generator systems. It results in not only saving the energy but also reducing the budget for constructing the natural base facilities by keeping thc number of generating plants ~ninimumT. he conventional MD controllers often bring about the large number of control actions during the every inteyating period and/or undesirable loaddisconnecting operations during the beginning stage of the integrating period. These make the users aviod the MD controllers. In this paper. fuzzy control technique is used to get around the disadvantages of the conventional MD control system. The proposed MD controller consists of the predictor module and the fuzzy MD control module. The proposed forecasting method uses the SOFM neural network model, differently from time series analysis, and thus it has inherent advantages of neural network such as parallel processing, generalization and robustness. The MD fuzzy controller determines the sensitivity of control action based on the time closed to the end of the integrating period and the urgency of the load interrupting action along the predicted demand reaching the target. The experimental results show that the proposed method has more accurate forecastinglcontrol performance than the previous methods.

Effect of Recipient's Age on the Pregnancy Outcomes in Oocyte Donation Program (난자공여 프로그램에서 난자수혜자의 연령이 임신율에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Oocyte donation program developed to reach the pregnancy in those patients suffering from premature ovarian failure or surgery induced menopause, particularly in their reproductive age. With technical advances and popularity of ART (assisted reproductive technology), the indication of oocyte donation program extended to low responders, and even to naturally menopaused patients that has led them quite successfully to getting in pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to evaluate which one is involved in the decline of fertility between the oocyte and uterine factor. One hundred five cycles of oocyte donation program were performed in 84 patients from Jan., 1993 to Dec., 1996. Oocytes were donated from healthy, young, fertile anonymous donors or relatives or infertile patients with supernumerary oocytes. The study population was divided into 3 groups according to the age of recipients. Group 1 was less than 35 years old, Group 2 was between 35 to 39 years old, and Group 3 was more than 39 years old. The results were as follows: The mean age of oocyte donor was $31.5{\pm}3.3$ (range; 25-36). The mean concentration of basal serum FSH and peak serum estradiol were not different among groups. The mean number of oocytes retrieved from donors, embryos transferred to recipients, and fertilization rate were not different among groups. The clinical pregnancy rate was 37.3% in Group 1, 31.6% in Group 2, and 31.6% in Group 3, respectively. The spontaneous abortion rate was 16.0% in Group 1, 16.7% in Group 2, and 16.7 in Group 3, respectively. The multiple pregnancy rate was 20.0% in Group 1, 16.7% in Group 2, 16,7% in Group 3, respectively, The implantation rate was 11.3% in Group 1, 10.3% in Group 2 and 10.0% in Group 3, respectively. All of the pregnancy outcomes were not different statistically among groups. In conclusion, endometrial receptivity does not seem to be impaired as age increases with transfer of good quality embryos and adequate endometrial preparation.

Efficient Humidity Color Sensor Based on a Photonic Crystal with a Metal-Organic Framework (금속-유기 구조체를 이용한 포토닉 크리스탈 기반의 효율적인 습도 컬러 센서)

  • In this study we suggest a humidity-sensitive color sensor using a one-dimensional photonic crystal and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology-1 (HKUST-1), which is a metal-organic framework (MOF) substance. One-dimensional photonic crystals have a photonic band gap, due to a periodic refractive-index change, and block and reflect light components in a specific wavelength band. The refractive index of HKUST-1 differs in dry and humid environments. Herein we designed a sensor using the presence of the photonic band gap, with FDTD simulation. As a result of optical analysis, the color conversion of the reflected light was superior to the color conversion of the transmitted light. When the center wavelength of the photonic band gap was 550 nm, the maximum peak value of the wet environment increased by a factor of about 9.5 compared to the dry environment, and the color conversion from achromatic to green was excellent as a sensor. The results of this study suggest the application of MOF materials to moisture sensors, and the nanostructure design of MOF materials will expand the applications to industrial devices.

Fluctuation Characteristics of Seawater Temperature Identified by Time Series Analysis Off the Southern Coast of Korea (한국 남해안에서 시계열 분석을 통한 수온 변동 특성)

  • In order to understand the fluctuation characteristics of water temperature in August, water temperature, tide level, air temperature and wind data were analyzed using a power spectrum and coherence analysis for a region off the southern coast of Korea. Spectrum analysis showed that the water temperature and tide level in Wando, Goheung, Yeosu, Tongyeong and Masan have peaks over a semi-diurnal period. Coherence showed that water temperature was affected by tide in Wando, Goheung, Yeosu and Tongyeong where tidal range is relatively high. In Masan and Busan, where tidal range is relatively low, however, the tide did not affect water temperature significantly. In particular, wind was the most important factor in relation to water temperature in Masan. Time lags were calculated from phase. In Wando, water temperature decreased 1.5 hrs after a flood tide began. Water temperature decreased 0.3 hrs after a flood tide began in Goheung and Tongyeong. In Masan, water temperature increased 3 hrs after a south wind began. Water temperature in Yeosu was affected by tide, but air temperature, tide and wind in Busan affected water temperature very little.

Linearly Polarized 1-kW 20/400-㎛ Yb-doped Fiber Laser with 10-GHz Linewidth (선편광된 10 GHz 선폭의 1 kW급 20/400-㎛ 이터븀 첨가 광섬유 레이저)

  • We have developed a linearly polarized high-power Yb-doped fiber laser in the master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) scheme for efficient spectral beam combining. We modulated the phase of the seed laser by pseudo-random binary sequence (PRBS), with the bit length optimized to suppress stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS), and subsequently amplified seed power in a 3-stage amplifier system. We have constructed by coiling the polarization-maintaining (PM) Yb-doped fiber, with core and cladding diameters of 20 ㎛ and 400 ㎛ respectively, to a diameter of 9-12 cm for suppression of the mode instability (MI). Finally, we obtained an output power of 1.004 kW with a slope efficiency of 83.7% in the main amplification stage. The beam quality factor M2 and the polarization extinction ratio (PER) were measured to be 1.12 and 21.5 dB respectively. Furthermore, the peak-intensity difference between the Rayleigh signal and SBS signal was observed to be 2.36 dB in the backward spectra, indicating that SBS is successfully suppressed. In addition, it can be expected that the MI does not occur because not only there is no decrease in slope efficiency, but also the beam quality for each amplified output is maintained.
