  • Although the generally used the velocity index of doppler effect is a very significant factor in the functional evaluation of the left ventricle, it depends on the subjective evaluation of an inspector. The objective data of the motility can be obtained from the gated myocardial SPECT images by quantitative analysis. However, it is difficult to image visual of the velocity of the motion. The aim of our study is to develop a new method for the imaging velocity using the gated myocardial SPECT images and use it as an evaluation index for analyzing motility. First we visualized left ventricle into 3 dimensions using the coordinates of the points which were obtained through a segmentation of myocardium. Each point was represented by the different colors, according to the velocity of each point. We performed a validation study using 7 normal subjects and 15 myocardial infarction patients. To analyze motility, we used the average of the moved distance and the velocity. In normal cases, the average of the moved distance was 4.3mm and the average of the velocity was 11.9mm. In patient cases, the average of the moved distance was 3.9mm and the average of the velocity was 10.5mm. These results show that the motility of normal subjects is higher than the abnormal subjects. We expect that our proposed method could become a way to improve the accuracy and reproducibility for the functional evaluation of myocardial wall.

  • This study is focused on middle school students who are composed of a factor in medical emergency system. In the case of cardiac failure, it is to make its basic data and develop its education program of CPR(cardiopulmonary resuscitation) which can increase the patient's survival rate before his hospitalization. The findings of this study is as follows. The subject of study is composed of 117 persons who are 54 boy-students(46.2%) and 63 girl-students(53.8%) in sex and 72 first-grade students(61.5%) and 45 second-grade students (38.5%) in a school year. In the accuracy degree, the practice of artificial respiration is $42.28{\pm}34.42%$ in case of basic CPR(cardiopulmonary resuscitation). The accuracy degree of the thorax pressure is $82.17{\pm}15.40%.$ In the accuracy degree, the practice of artificial respiration is $92.16{\pm}25.68%$ in boy-students and $20.38{\pm}24.16%$ in girl-students, the second-grade students is $58.40{\pm}33.29%$, which is higher than the first-grade students' $32.21{\pm}31.14%$. In the accuracy degree, the thorax pressure is $92.16{\pm}3.91%$ in boy-studetns and $73.61{\pm}16.41%$ in girl-students. In the accuracy degree of the thorax pressure, the second-grade students are $82.60{\pm}16.54%$ and the first-grade students $81.91{\pm}3.91$, which doesn't show any significant difference in school year. The satisfaction degree after theory & practice education is $2.12{\pm}.85$. In the satisfaction degree of its basic CPR, girl-students are $2.14{\pm}.83$ and boy-students are 2.11. In the satisfaction degree of its basic CPR, the second-grade students are $2.40{\pm}.61$ and the first-grade students are $1.95{\pm}.94$. This study is to lead to some suggestions. First, it is necessary to develop the education program and educate its knowledge & technology in proportion to student's characteristics of sex and school year. Second, education authorities should develop a subject of the accident prevention and first-aid treatment in its curriculum and provide the practical education of CPR for adults, adolescents and children. Third, it is necessary to study the education program as well as the education evaluation of CPR further on.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of class-based and simulation-based CPR education for the rural elderly on their attitudes toward CPR, self-efficacy, and satisfaction. Using a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group, this study used a pretest-posttest method with a sample of 43 elderly people aged 65 or older in rural areas. The twenty-two elderly people in the control group received class-based CPR education, while the experimental group underwent both class-based and simulation-based education. Both groups were given surveys to complete before and after the education. The statistical analysis was based on the $X^2$-test, Fisher's exact test, paired t-test, and ANCOVA. The study found no significant differences between the two groups in terms of their attitudes (F=0.89, p=.353). However, statistical differences were found in the self-efficacy (F=5.54, p=.025) and satisfaction (F=4.66, p=.039) between the two groups. This study provides the baseline data indicating that the education methods implemented in this study were effective for the elderly living in rural areas. Thus, it is necessary to make efforts to ensure that the elderly are able to manage emergency situations by boosting their CPR self-efficacy and educational satisfaction through simulation-based education.

  • A dental treatment room is always exposed to diverse kinds of pathogenic bacteria, and may be a mediating place of cross-infection given being contaminated the interior of a room through several routes in the form of patient's secretion and aerosol. The main agent of preventing cross-infection is a dental hygienist in the dental treatment and the dental treatment room where are scattered about a risk of cross-infection. A dental hygienist needs to have right recognition on infection control before being active as a clinical expert. This infection-control recognition level is influenced from the clinical practice. Accordingly, to survey recognition of infection control, a self-administered questionnaire research was conducted targeting 314 students who are fixed the clinical practice as regular subject in the junior course out of curriculum for the Department of Dental Hygiene at some of 4-year universities. Data collection was performed from December 9, 2011 to February 22, 2012. Except 11 copies of questionnaire with insincere response among the collected materials, 303 copies were finally analyzed by using SPSS WIN 20.0. The following conclusions were obtained. In the infection disease section, both on and off campus showed 4.89 points from 'the importance of recognizing the infections prevention', 4.65 points from 'recognizing the compulsory preventative injection for hepatitis type B', 4.77 points from 'recognizing the necessity of the preventative injection for hepatitis type B', 4.71 points from 'whether practice the prevention in reality or not', and 4.76 points from 'the educational helps to the prevention'. In other words, the section recorded the highest and meaningful points. It is considered to be needed the development in systematic and diverse infection-control educational programs and the differentiated education depending on school year for dental hygiene students.
