  • The cancellation loop configuration for power amplifier module is proposed to reject the RX signals using feed-forward technique. In this paper, we implement the 1W-ampilfier module of WLL band to show validity of the proposed cancellation loop. The power amplifier module with the proposed cancellation loop can provide low TX insertion path loss due to duplexer and choice of loose RX attenuation characteristic for various wireless communication systems. It shows at least 90 % improved RX rejection characteristic compared to power amplifier module without RX band cancellation loop.

  • In this paper, short range IVC(Inter-Vehicle Communication) channel is modeled in three kinds considering rain attenuation and oxygen absorption. And the performance of DS/CDMA communication system in one path Rician model suitable for platton driving which is the final goal of AVHS(Advanced Vehicle & Highway System) is analyzed. Also, the reflection coefficients in 60 GHz is calculated. For the performance improvement both BCH channel coding and MRC diversity reception technique are adopted. The BER performance is evaluated as a function of packet length, Rician depth and the distance between vehicles.

  • Laser induced incandescence, LII, recently developed technique for measuring soot concentration in flames, can overcome most of limitations of conventional laser extinction measurement. In this study, experiments were performed to investigate the effect of laser intensity, detection wavelength, and also laser beam quality on both LII signal at a particular position and peak-to-centerline LII signal ratio. The results of LII signal with increasing laser intensity shows its near-independence of laser intensity once threshold level of laser intensity has been reached. However, this near-independence depends on laser beam quality and the incident optical setup. The peak-to-centerline LII signal ratio slowly but continuously increases with laser power. This fact is due to the dependence of LII signal on particle mean diameter. LII signal is attenuated during it passes through the flame containing soot particles. The attenuation rate is inversely proportional to detection wavelength. In this study, LII signal at 680 nm band is 10% greater than the signal at 400 nm band.

  • Stainless steel is used commonly in nuclear applications for shielding radiation, so in this study, three different types of new stainless steel samples were designed and developed. New stainless steel compound ratios were determined by using Monte Carlo Simulation program Geant 4 code. In the sample production, iron (Fe), nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr), silicium (Si), sulphur (S), carbon (C), molybdenum (Mo), manganese (Mn), wolfram (W), rhenium (Re), titanium (Ti) and vanadium (V), powder materials were used with powder metallurgy method. Total macroscopic cross sections, mean free path and transmission number were calculated for the fast neutron radiation shielding by using (Geant 4) code. In addition to neutron shielding, the gamma absorption parameters such as mass attenuation coefficients (MACs) and half value layer (HVL) were calculated using Win-XCOM software. Sulfuric acid abrasion and compressive strength tests were carried out and all samples showed good resistance to acid wear and pressure force. The neutron equivalent dose was measured using an average 4.5 MeV energy fast neutron source. Results were compared to 316LN type stainless steel, which commonly used in shielding radiation. New stainless steel samples were found to absorb neutron better than 316LN stainless steel at both low and high temperatures.

  • In this research, an experimental study is presented to check the possibilities of offshore structures monitoring using AE techniques. The underwater transducer and preamplifier are fabricated. And, it is proved that this unit can be used for the detection of AE in offshore structures. Wave propagation studies have shown that supplementary attenuations due to seawater are significantly reducing the detection range of the sensors. It excludes the possibility of offshore structures monitoring with a small number of sensors. We conclude that AE waves would be correctly detected for a path of about 3m. Tubular joints have been tested in air and underwater using simulated elastic wave. Ability of AE techniques to detect and locate cracks early in their evolution has been demonstrated. Several parameters of AE generation have been set in evidence. It has also been shown that crack development goes with an increase of AE parameter. Conclusively, it is shown that AE techniques can provide practical alternatives to present methods being used for inspection of deep-water offshore structures undergoing structural degradation due to fatigue crack growth.

  • Stochastic ground-motion method is adopted to simulate horizontal PGA values for the offshore Uljin earthquake recorded at nationwide seismic stations. For this purpose, the Fourier spectra are calculated at every stations based on comprehensive results of wave propagation and site effect which were previously revealed through inversion process applied to large accumulated spectral D/B. In addition, the apparent source spectrum of the offshore Uljin earthquake is estimated by removing the path and site response from the observed spectra. The distance dependent time-duration model is revised by iteratively fitting the PGA values generated by using the raw spectra data to the observed PGA data. The stochastic ground-motion method predicts the observed PGA values within a error of ${\sigma}_{log10}=0.1$. Transfer functions of a site relative to another site are estimated based on the error residual of the inversion results and used to convert PGA values at multiple stations to expected PGA values at a reference station of TJN. The converted PGA values can be used as basic data to evaluate the ground-motion attenuation relations developed for seismic hazard analysis that concerns the large damaging earthquakes.

  • Characteristics of a piezoelectric material are evaluated to pick up the optimal crystal cut and propagation direction for a SAW device. For the piezoelectric single crystal $LiTaO_4$, such items are investigated as the Rayleigh wave velocity, the electromechanical coupling factor, the surface permittivity, the frequency-temperature coefficient, the air loading attenuation, the pure mode propagation, the beam steering and the misalignment sensitivity. Theoretical calculations reveal that Y-cut and Z-propagation is the optimal SAW propagation path. The results are confirmed through experiments. The method empolyed in this paper is applicable to other crystals, too, either single or poly crystals.

  • Usually, propagation attenuation of millimeter wave occurs by rainfall, snowfall, temperature, effect of pressure of air. In 60GHz wave band wireless communication network, temperature change becomes big factor of propagation loss department. Also, temperature change causes disturbance of 60GHz frequency at transceiver. In this study, we used 60GHz transceiver and found propagation loss of wireless path and operating frequency disturbance characteristics. In transceiver that there is no temperature compensated device, operating frequency of TX changed by 60.865GHz at temperature of $-5^{\circ}C$, and appeared by 60.730GHz when is $50^{\circ}C$. Therefore, operating frequency change width by temperature change are about 100MHz, greatly. But, in transceiver that there is temperature compensated device, operating frequency of TX changed by 60.830GHz at temperature of $-5^{\circ}C$, and appeared by 60.710GHz when is $50^{\circ}C$. Therefore, operating frequency change width by temperature change are about 20MHz. According to these result, we constructed between buildings examination wireless site for point to point wireless communication using 60GHz band transceivers who have do temperature compensated device, and investigated data transmission characteristics about ambient temperature change. Therefore, if use transceiver that have temperature compensated device, may overcome the wireless transmission error in 60GHz band wireless communication LAN networks despite of ambient temperature change.

  • The mass attenuation coefficient ${\mu}_m$ for eight rock samples having different chemical composition was simulated using the MCNP 5 code in energy range($0.002MeV{\leq}E{\leq}10MeV$). Moreover, the ${\mu}_m$ for the studied rock samples was computed theoretically using XCOM database. The comparison between simulated and computed data for all selected rock samples showed a good agreement with differences varied between 0.01 and 8%. The highest ${\mu}_m$ was found for basalt rocks M2 and M1 and the lowest one is reported for limestone rocks Dike. The simulated values of the ${\mu}_m$ then were used to calculate other important shielding parameters such as the mean free path, effective electron density and effective atomic number. The exposure buildup factor EBF was also computed for the selected rocks with the contribution of G-P fitting parameters and the highest EBF attended by the basalt sample Sill and varied between 1.022 and 744 in the energy range between ($0.015MeV{\leq}E{\leq}15MeV$) but the lowest EBF achieved by basalt sample M2 and varied between 1.017 and 491 in the same energy range.

  • Satellite communication for high altitude platform stations (HAPS) and low earth orbit (LEO) systems suffer from dust and sand (DU&SA) storms in the desert regions such as Saudi Arabia. These attenuations have a distorting effect on signal fidelity at high frequency of operations. This results signal to noise ratio (SNR) to dramatically decreasing and leads to wireless transmission error. The main focus in this paper is to propose common relations between HAPS and LEO for the atmospheric impairments affecting the satellite communication networks operating above Ku-band crossing the propagation path. A double phase three dimensional relationship for HAPS and LEO systems is then presented. The comparison model present the analysis of atmospheric attenuation with specific focus on sand and dust based on particular size, visibility, adding gaseous effects for different frequency, and propagation angle to provide system operations with a predicted vision of satellite parameters' values. Skillful decision and control system (SD&CS) is proposed to control applied parameters that lead to improve satellite network performance and to get the ultimate receiving wireless signal under bad weather condition.
