Under partial shading conditions (PSCs), multiple maximums may be exhibited on the P-U curve of string inverter photovoltaic (PV) systems. Under such conditions, heuristic methods are invalid for extracting a global maximum power point (GMPP); intelligent algorithms are time-consuming; and model-based methods are complex and costly. To overcome these shortcomings, a novel hybrid MPPT (MPF-IP&O) based on a model-based peak forecasting (MPF) method and an improved perturbation and observation (IP&O) method is proposed. The MPF considers the influence of temperature and does not require solar radiation measurements. In addition, it can forecast all of the peak values of the PV string without complex computation under PSCs, and it can determine the candidate GMPP after a comparison. Hence, the MPF narrows the searching range tremendously and accelerates the convergence to the GMPP. Additionally, the IP&O with a successive approximation strategy searches for the real GMPP in the neighborhood of the candidate one, which can significantly enhance the tracking efficiency. Finally, simulation and experiment results show that the proposed method has a higher tracking speed and accuracy than the perturbation and observation (P&O) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) methods under PSCs.

Photovoltaic (PV) has both intermittent and uncertainty in nature, so it is difficult to accurately predict. Thus anomaly detection technology is important to diagnose real time PV generation. This paper identifies a correlation between various parameters and classifies the PV data applying k-nearest neighbor and dynamic time warpping. Results for the two classifications showed that an outlier detection by a fault of some facilities, and a temporary power loss by partial shading and overall shading occurring during the short period. Based on 100kW plant data, machine learning analysis and test results verified actual outliers and candidates of outlier.
The use of local seed provenance is often recommended in forest restoration. Early vigor is a combination of the performance of seed germination and emergence after planting. The ability of young Brant's oak plants to grow and develop after emergence and its dependence on local habitat conditions was investigated in this study. The effects of seed source and shade on early growing seedlings of Brant's oak (Quercus brantii L.) were determined in field measurements. Seeds of Quercus brantii L. were collected from 4 forest areas (seed sources) in southern Zagros (Provinces of Kohkilouyeh-Bouyer Ahmad and Fars) at altitudes of 850, 1,100, 1,500, 2,100 m a.s.l., and planted in a nursery constructed in southwestern Iran. According to a split-plot design consisting of four blocks, each containing two main treatment plots (no shading, partial shading), each main plot was sub-divided into four sub-plots (for elevations of 850, 1,100, 1,500 and 2,100 m). Results showed that shade treatments had significant effects on emergence percentage and rate, shoot length, shoot dry weight (SDW), root dry weight (RDW), leaf area (LA), and chlorophyll content. Ecological factors also had an effect on seed performance. Altitude of seed source had a very significant effect on root length, LA, SDW, and RDW. The seeds collected from 850 m a.s.l. elevation showed the highest performance, especially in leaf area, root length, shoot dry weight, and root dry weight. Our results showed that the altitude of 850 m a.s.l. was the best for collecting Brant's oak seeds.

The photovoltaic(PV) generation system have recently become widely used to solve the environmental problems and running out of fossil fuels. However, the study on maintenance is inadequate for PV system. This paper proposes the novel diagnosis method of output power decline to maintain the normal output performance of PV array. The diagnosis method used the proportional relation of irradiation-output current(S-I) of PV array at maximum power point(MPP). And, first order polynomial using the relation is proposed to easily apply PV system. To estimate the relation in case of separation of PV array producer and diagnosis system producer. Kalman Filter algorithm is also proposed at 30.2kW grid-connected PV system. Then, the performance of diagnosis method is evaluated using the hardware tests as well as the simulation.
The PV arrays were designed as sunshade devices at the building in the KIER(Korea Institute of Energy Research). The arrays are shaded by the above placed devices. In this paper, it was analyzed that the performance and characteristic of the BIPV system by partial shading could reliably be calculated with Solar Pro.

In the paper, a pattern analysis to decide whether the 1st local peak power point near open circuit voltage is the global peak power point or not, in case that the voltage and current at the 1st local peak power point are in a specific range, for Maximum Power Point Tracking on the photo voltaic power conversion system. When a solar cell panel array is shaded partially, multi-local peak power points can occur. That makes it hard to search the global peak power point. Through Tableau analysis using by piecewise linear solar cell model, V-I characteristic of a solar cell panel array circuit when partial shading problem happens, is simulated. The global peak power and the local peak power points is confirmed by simulations. Voltage and current values and patterns of V-I characteristic are analyzed. The generating efficiency of the solar cell panel array is improved, when the solar cell panel array circuit is operated at the power point estimated by setting up specific range.

An agrivoltaic system (AVS) is a combined system that generates power through photovoltaic panels (PVPs) installed above a field where a crop is cultivated. Although soil moisture is an important limiting factor for open-field crop production, particularly during spring season in Korea, it is not well considered in the utilization of AVS. Indeed, the application of water-energy-food nexus on the AVS should be necessary. In this study, the changes of soil moisture and temperature under the AVS was investigated in fallow paddy field during spring season. The AVS that has partial shading condition by PV panels was decreased soil temperature and increased soil moisture compared to open-field. Furthermore, the maximum of the change in soil moisture to the change in soil temperature had a negative correlation both on open-field and AVS under wet condition. It represents that the micro-climate under the AVS is in energy-limited condition. The open-field of relatively high soil temperature was in water-limited condition. The different behavior of soil moisture on the AVS should be considered for the sustainable agricultural system as related to water-energy-food nexus.

Renewable energy is receiving attention again as a way to realize carbon neutrality to overcome the climate change crisis. Among renewable energy sources, the installation of Photovoltaic is continuously increasing, and as of 2020, the global cumulative installation amount is about 590 GW and the domestic cumulative installation amount is about 17 GW. Accordingly, O&M technology that can analyze the power generation and fault diagnose about PV plants the is required. In this paper, a study was conducted to diagnose fault using I-V curves of PV strings and deep learning. In order to collect the fault I-V curves for learning in the deep learning, faults were simulated. It is partial shade and voltage mismatch, and I-V curves were measured on a sunny day. A two-step data pre-processing technique was applied to minimize variations depending on PV string capacity, irradiance, and PV module temperature, and this was used for learning and validation of deep learning. From the results of the study, it was confirmed that the PV fault diagnosis using I-V curves and deep learning is possible.
This paper targets the development of micro-converter such as a power converter for photovoltaic module. In corresponding to the poor performance of centralized PV system under partial shading, the power converter for single PV module to maximize the energy harvest from PV module. The power converter is constantly tracking the maximum power point of photovoltaic system and increases energy output power. To minimize the quantity of devices and switchs, 320W solar micro-converter is developed using synchronous rectifier. From the basis of these results, through simulations and experiments were verified efficiency.
The power-voltage (P-V) curve of photovoltaic (PV) arrays connected in parallel to bypass diodes would have several local maximum power points (LMPP) under partial shading conditions (PSC). Conventional maximum power point tracking (MPPT) methods fail to search for the global maximum power point (MPP) because the searched peak point may remain at the LMPP on the P-V curve under PSC. This study proposes an improved MPPT algorithm to ensure that PV arrays operate at global maximum power point (GMPP) under PSC. The proposed algorithm is based on a critical study and a series of observations of PV characteristics under PSC. Results show the regularity of voltage interval between LMPPs. The algorithm has the advantages of rapidly reaching GMPP, maintaining stability, and recovering GMPP quickly when the operating condition changes. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed algorithm.
