  • In order to investigate relation between park scale and temperature decrease in and near parks, temperature distribution was observed and was analyzed in four parks of different scales. Relation between the temperature decrease and ratio of green coverage was also analyzed by using regression analysis. Lower temperature was observed in and near the parks and larger cooling effect was implicated near the larger parks. The result of regression analysis showed that the increase of green coverage ratio lends the decrease of the temperature in the parks. The degree of the temperature decrease varied according to the types of the coverage.

  • Elevated linear parks have the potential to support the ecological stability, city amenity, cultural opportunity, and health benefits of urban dwellers; these are increasingly becoming an integral part of the urban infrastructure. Due to structural limitations in space, linear parks need to be planned to increase the value of green space. This study was aimed at advancing urban planning techniques for increasing the value of elevated linear parks, by comparing the Seoullo7017 with the Promenade $plant{\acute{e}}e$ and the Highline. Planning characteristics of these green spaces were analyzed from the perspectives of physical planning factors, amenity values for users, and management systems. Field surveys and virtual tools were used to investigate the current characteristics of these parks, in addition to the literature survey. From the analysis of planning factors, amenity values, and management in the three linear parks, following important recommendations were made in order to promote the values of these parks: (a) diversify planting design for increasing the diversity of green space in a narrow area; (b) bring in various forms of amenities to promote the quality of users' experience; and (c) establish community-based management systems for enhancing regional competitiveness and profit sharing in urban regeneration projects.

  • It has been suggested that green juice supplementation may have some health promoting benefits. We evaluated the effects of green juice (Angelica keiskei) consumption on parameters of lipid profiles and plasma antioxidant status in healthy male smokers. Fifty-four smokers were supplemented with 300 ml of green juice for 6 weeks while maintaining their normal diet. Blood samples were collected on week 0 and week 6 in order to evaluate plasma lipid profiles (total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol) , plasma antioxidant vitamin levels (ascorbic acid, $\alpha$ -tocopherol, ${\gamma}$ -tocopherol, $\alpha$ -carotene, $\beta$ -carotene, cryptoxanthin and lycopene) , the degree of LDL oxidation and GOT, GPT levels for liver function. Plasma ascorbic acid level remained at the same level. However, $\alpha$ -tocopherol and ${\gamma}$ -tocopherol normalized by total cholesterol (p <0.05) and $\beta$ -carotene (p <0.001) level were all significantly increased after green juice supplementation. Plasma cholesterol was reduced for 12%, LDL-cholesterol was reduced for 9.3% after green juice consumption, while plasma triglyceride and HDL-cholesterol was not changed. Oxidized LDL assessed by conjugated diene (CD) , was decreased (p < 0.0001) after green juice consumption. These results further support a role for green juice supplementation in the improvement of lipid status, prevention of lipid peroxidation, and thereby reducing risk factors of numerous diseases associated with elevated oxidative stress in smokers.

  • Many methods exist that promote wound healing, including light therapy, which consists of light beams that assist the human body in treating and sterilizing wounds, as well as regenerating cells. Irradiation with specific wavelengths of either laser or LED light has been shown to induce beneficial proliferation of fibroblasts that, depending on the size of the wound, can be effective in promoting wound healing. The experiments in this study utilized 8 week old 250~300 g Male Sprague Dawley Rats (ILAR Code: NTacSam:SD) and included a non-irradiation group and a 525 nm green LED irradiation group (n of each group = 7). In experiments animals were allowed to rest for 24 hours after wounds had been excised, which was followed by non- irradiation or 525 nm green LED irradiation therapy one hour per day for 9 days. Immunohistochemical staining was conducted for cytokeratin in order to precisely measure the defect size. In addition, Masson's trichrome staining was utilized in order to compare levels of collagen between the 525 nm green LED irradiation group and the non-irradiation group. Animals exposed to 525 nm green LED irradiation (p<0.05) healed at a faster rate and had increased collagenosis compared with the non-irradiated control group. Thus, treatment with 525 nm green LED irradiation had a beneficial effect on wound healing and should be considered as a possible alternative to low power laser treatment.

  • A new GFP-based T-vector for cloning of PCR products was developed by using a green fluorescent protein (GFP) as a mafker. In order to facilitate the DNA inserts, multiple restriction sites, SP6 and T7 RNA polymerase promoter sites, were introduced close to the PCR DNA insertion site of a pCRGv vector. The XcmI-digested pHNT plasmid can be used to clone a 3' A-overhanged PCR DNA amplified by Taq DNA polymerase. A potential method of easing some difficulties from its use along with its cost savings proveded by this vector are likely to lead to the replacement of other T-vectors for PCR DNA cloning.

  • Recently, many countries around the world are investing heavily in green industries based on green IT technology. The key industry in the green industry is LED. If we replace traditional lighting, we can save a lot of socioeconomic costs. Because it is energy efficient. However, the research and development on maintenance and management are still insignificant about LED lighting. Therefore, after the failure, the post-treatment is delayed and often occurs. In order to solve these problems, it is planned to detect the failure of the LED lighting and to establish a monitoring system that can monitor the situation in real time on the computer or mobile phone of the remote manager using the latest IoT network technology.

  • This study was designed to investigate the properties related to browning of hot water and 80% ethanol extracts of green tea (Camellia sinensis) and propolis. The extracts were assessed for polyphenol oxidase (PPO) inhibitory activity and total phenolic and flavonoid contents. In addition, apples were cut into 15 mm thick slices and dipped for 1 min in 0.5% of the green tea extracts and the propolis solutions and stored at room temperature for 24 h. The PPO inhibitory activity of the green tea extracts was better than that of the propolis. The highest DPPH free radical scavenging activity (90.81%), total phenol contents (170.42 mg/mL) and the metal chelating effects (45.93%) were measured in the green tea hot water extracts. The mineral content of the green tea water extracts was 69,328.44 ppm potassium and 2,409.42 ppm magnesium. After 24 h, the ${\Delta}E$ value of the apple slices treated with the green tea water extracts was the lowest (1.35). The antibrowning effects of the green tea extracts were higher than those of propolis in the apple slices.

  • There is growing concern of the international community for the environmental issues including climate change. Scholars have examined various issues regrading Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) but they mainly have focused on why firms introduce and implement GSCM from the persecutive of manufacturers. In particular, there has been few studies of green supply chain management in Korea. We investigate the effects of long-term relationships on green supply chain management and the relationship between GSCM and environmental performance. We also examine the relationship between long-term relationships and green information sharing, the effects of green information sharing on the GSCM. The data for this study were collected through a questionnaire survey on firms that participated in the Green Partnership Program of Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. Based on the responses of 155 firms the research model is empirically tested through a structural equation model. We found that long-term relationships facilitate GSCM significantly as it was expected. Green purchase and green product design also appears to improve environmental performance. Long-term relationship appears to affect positively green information sharing. Green information sharing does not have a statistically significant effect on environmental performance but show positive effect on GSCM including green purchase and green product design.
