Nutrition Survey for Special Groups -Part II : For Buddhists (male, female)- (특수지역(特殊地域)의 영양섭취(營養攝取) 상태조사(狀態調査) -제이보(第二報) 승려(남승, 여승)에 대하여-)

  • Following the previous report (Part I: For Sea-divers and Hwa-Jeon-Min) authers have conducted another nutrition survey for Buddhists (male and female) in a temple 'Soo Duk Sa' locating in ChungNam province. The following results were obtained: 1. Cereals, green vegetables and potatoes were staple foods for the Buddhists (male and female) and no any animal foods were eaten by them during the survey period. 2. Carbohydrate intake was very high and the calorie derived from it occupied approximately 80% of tatal calorie intaken. 3. All the nutrients except carotene, niacin and iron are low in their amounts of intake. Especially, protein and riboflavin intakes are low. 4. Buddhists are prohibited to eat animal foods. Therefore, nutrition education and guidance are needed for them to supplement the protein and some other problems.

  • 본 연구에서는 회로 시뮬레이션을 통하여 얻은 ITER 전원 장치의 단락 전자기력의 방향과 크기 성분을 유한요소모델에 맵핑(mapping)한 뒤, 구조해석을 수행함으로써, 단락 시의 전자기력이 직접적으로 구조에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 연구결과는 향후 전기적 구조물에 가해지는 다양한 악조건의 복합적 작용 시에 대한 고려에 있어 기초적인 데이터로 이용할 수 있으리라 사료된다.

  • $Ba_{1-x}M_xGa_2S_4:Eu^{2+}$ (M = Ca, Sr) phosphor was prepared for white light emitting diodes application. Photoluminescence (PL) emission and excitation bands were red-shifted with increase of Ca and Sr content due to the crystal field effect. Moreover, the PL intensity under 450 nm was increased by substitution of Ca and Sr.

  • In the DC electric railway system, the effective use of regenerative break energy is an important issue. Since regenerative break energy causes voltage rise or drop in the system, it should be also solved effectively. To solve the problems, applying electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) or voltage source converter (VSC) to the DC electric railway system has been studying. In this paper, the coordination of EDLC and VSC is proposed to solve the problem effectively with its coordinated control algorithm. The proposed method is tested to show its feasibility using Matlab/Simulink.

Measurement of Thermal Diffusivity Using Deformation Gradient and Phase in the Photothermal Displacement Technique

  • As technology advances with development of new materials, it is important to measure the thermal diffusivity of material and to predict the heat transfer in the solid subject to thermal processes. The measurement of thermal properties can be done in a non-contact way using photothermal displacement spectroscopy. In this work, the thermal diffusivity was measured by analyzing the magnitude and phase of deformation gradient. We proposed a new data analysis method based on the real part of deformation gradient as the pump-probe offset value. As the result, compared with the literature value, the measured thermal diffusivities of materials showed about 3 % error.

A Study on the Pullout Behavior of Ground Anchored in Weatherd Rock (풍화암에 근입된 그라운드 앵커의 인발거동 연구)

  • This study is an numerical study of predicting the behavior of anchor embedded in weathered rocks, subjected to uplift loads, about ultimate pullout capacity and the failure mechanism. Factors influencing the behavior of anchors were investigated by reviewing the data about in-situ anchor tests performing numerical modelling with changing the bondage length of anchor, diameter of anchor body and diameter of tenden, and by Correlations between those factors were evaluated to apply them to predict the behavior of anchors. As results of numerical analysis, a linear relationship between bondage length, diameter of anchor body and diameter of tenden with ultimate pullout capacity was obtained on the one hand, from the result of numerical analysis changing the Young's modulus of weathered rock, this parameter was found to inflence to load-displacement and ultimate pullout capacity within the range of 10%, which was mot so significant to affect.

Biosorption Model for Binary Adsorption Sites

  • The binding of heavy metals by a biosorbent with binary functional groups was mathematically modeled. An FT-IR spectrophotometer analysis was employed to determine the stoichiometry between the protons in the functional groups of alginic acid and lead ions as a model system. The results calculated using an equilibrium constant agreed well with the experimental results obtained under various operating conditions, such as pH and metal ion concentration. It was also shown that the overall adsorption phenomenon of alginic acid was mainly due to its carboxyl groups. The equilibrium constants for each functional group successfully predicted the lead adsorption of ${\alpha}$-cellulose. Furthermore, the biosorption model could predict the adsorption phenomena of two metal ions, lead ions and calcium ions, relatively.

  • A complete theoretical treatment of the photothermal displacement technique has been performed for thermal diffusivity measurement in semi-infinite solid materials. The influence of the parameters, such as radius and modulation frequency of the heating beam and the thermal diffusivity, was studied. Usually, thermal diffusivity was determined by the deformation angle and phase angle as the relative position between the heating and probe beams. In this study, we proposed the simple analysis method based on the real part of deformation gradient as the relative position between two beams. It is independent in the parameters such as power of heating beam, absorption coefficient, reflectivity, Poisson's ratio, and thermal expansion coefficient.

  • EPDM has excellent electric characteristics and so that it has been rapidly finding use is high voltage applications in recent years. At present EPDM is widely used for insulator of cable and accessories, and further the commercial use of Premolded housing for elbow surge arrester is started. In this paper, we have measured the temperature, pressure and voltages dependence of $tan{\delta}$ in EPDM. As a results, dielectric characteristics($tan{\delta}$) increases slightly with increasing the temperature. However, it is almost independent of the pressure and voltages.
