  • We have developed a new driving method named TROPHY(Talented Role-playing Technology with Dual Polarity sustainer in Hybrid Mono board). In this method, the sustain voltage is halved compared to the conventional method and the number of power sources is reduced by voltage level unification during the reset, address and sustain period. The hybrid mono board was especially developed to implement those technologies. Therefore, we can lower the cost with the TROPHY compared to the conventional one. It is suitable technology to improve the reliability of circuit and image sticking problem. We can also reduce the number of driving boards and the EMI problem comparing to those of the conventional method.

  • To reduce chattering in sliding mode control, a boundary layer around the sliding surface is used, and a continuous control is applied within the boundary. In this paper, a method of determining the sliding mode controller switching gains and the width of boundary layer is presented. Contrary to the trial and error selection of the switching gains and the width of boundary layer, the selection in the presented work is done using genetic algorithms. Simulation results show that the system performance has been improved.

  • In this paper, we present results of the dielectric breakdown test in various 6.9kV power cables used in power plants. The dielectric strength of the different conditioned cables was measured by placing the sliced cable sections in silicone oil bath with needle electrode. The results were analyzed by the Weibull distribution. The shape and scale parameters of the Weibull distribution for each cable sections under test were calculated and evaluated. Collected data base was applied to deterioration trend analysis and lifetime guide was also proposed.

  • In order to detect exact corona discharge point at stator winding of a rotating machine, an inductively coupled magnetic probe has been developed, which consists of U-shaped and truncated manganese ferrite inductor as a helix. The measured current intensity is somewhat higher than commercially developed probe. It has been shown that the measured intensity of proposed probe is suitable for manual localization as to off-line stator winding monitoring of rotating machine.

  • In the adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control, from a set of fuzzy IF-THEN rules adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control whose parameters are adjusted on-line according to some adaptation laws is constructed for the purpose of controlling the plant to track a desired trajectory. Most of the research works in nonlinear controller design using fuzzy systems consider the affine system with fixed grid-rule structure based on system state availability.   • In cold forging of piston-pin for automobile parts, the flow defect appears by the dead metal zone. This appearance evidently happens in products with a thin piercing thickness for the dimension accuracy and the decrease of material loss. The best method that can prevent flow defect is removing dead metal zone. The purpose of this study is to investigate the material flow behavior of forward-backward extruded piston-pin through the relative velocity ratio and the stroke control of upper moving punch & container using the flow control forming technique. The finite element simulations are applied to analyse the flow defect, then the results are compared with the plasticine model material experiments. The model experiment results are in good agreement with the FE simulation ones.

  • Welding is required for a connection between two different components in the nuclear fuel of a pressurized water reactor. This work relies on a mechanical experiment and analytic results to investigate the structural integrity of nuclear fuel in a situation where some components are not welded to each other. A series of lateral vibration tests are performed in a test facility, and the test structures are examined in terms of dynamic behavior. In the tests, the displacement signal at every grid structure that sustains fuel rods is measured and processed to identify the dynamic properties. The fluid-elastic stability of the structure is also analyzed to evaluate susceptibility to a cross flow with an assumed conservative cross flow distribution. The test and analysis results confirm that the structural integrity can be maintained even in the absence of some welding connections.

  • Facilities of electric railway should be maintained only at night and it is necessary to maintain by human power because facilities are installed at a high place. This paper presents the development and application of a real-time data acquisition system for the characteristics measurement of overhead contact wires in electric railway. The system is designed to perform in the telemetry environments that developed to store data by wireless in a live wire state of 25 kV power source. The field test results show that the proposed technique and the developed system can be practically applied to measure characteristics of temperature, displacement, and strain on overhead contact lines.
