The questionnaires for the communication and the conflict between the adolescents and the parents and the self-concept inventory were used. The data were analyzed by regression analysis, t-test, paired-t-test, one way ANOVA and Duncan analysis. First, mother was better than father in the communication with the adolescent. The conflicts with the parents were as shown below in order; the homework, school record, sibling relationship, playing computer games, etc.. The adolescents' self-concept was above the median. Second, the adolescents' conflicts and communications with parents were negatively correlated. Third, there was a difference in the adolescents' self-concept according to the conflict with the parents. Fourth, the adolescents' self-identity was influenced by the communication with the parents. Their self-acceptance was highly influenced by the conflict and the communication with the parents. Their self-behavior was influenced by the communication with the parents.
The purpose of this study is to obtain basic data needed to understand school-age children's parent-child communication style, stress coping behaviors, and child behavior problems. The subject of this study were 362 primary school children (the fourth and the sixth graders) and their mothers in "D" Metropolitan City, Korea. The research tools included standardized parent-child communication style scale (Min,l991), stress coping behaviors scale (Min,1998), and child behavior problems scale (Hun,l996). The data were analyzed using statistical techniques such as Mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentile, t-test, F-test, pearson's correlational analysis, stepwise regression analysis. In the relationship between child perceived parent-child communication style and stress coping behaviors, the children who make open communication with their parents demonstrate high problem-solving, support-seeking coping behavior. The children with closed communication with their parents have high hope expectation, revenge coping behavior. In the relationship between child perceived parent-child communication style and child behavior problem, the children making more closed communication with their parents show more behavior problems. The children with more closed communication with their mothers have more hyperactive behaviors, aggressive behaviors, and immature behaviors, and the children who are making more closed communication retain more anxious behaviors and withdrawn behaviors. In the relationship between child stress coping behaviors and behavior problems, the more problem-solving and support-seeking coping behaviors the children possess, the less problem behaviors they demonstrate. The more hope expectation, revenge coping behavior the children possess, the more problem behaviors they show. With the results above, we can find out that parent-child communication style has an effect on stress coping behavior, and parent-child communication style and stress coping behavior have an influence on child behavior problem.
Objective: This study examined the mediating effects of child care teachers' self-esteem in the relationship between teachers' difficulties communicating with parents and teacher-child interactions. Methods: A total of 450 child care teachers answered questionnaires based on three research variables. Data were analyzed using SEM. Results: First, child care teachers' difficulties communicating with parents had a direct effect on teacher-child interactions. That is, child care teachers who experienced more difficulties communicating with parents showed more negative teacher-child interactions. Second, child care teachers' difficulties communicating with parents had an indirect effect on teacher-child interactions through teachers' self-esteem. In other words, when child care teachers experienced more difficulties communicating with parents, their self-esteem was lower, which led to increased negative teacher-child interactions. Conclusion/Implications: This study highlights the importance of effective communication between child care teachers and parents. In addition, these findings contribute to a better understanding of the mechanism by which child care teachers' difficulties communicating with parents influence teacher-child interactions.
This study examined the effects of family environmental variables and parent-child communication on the self-esteem of delinquent and non-delinquent juveniles. For this study, a questionnaire was administered to 117 non-delinquent juveniles living with their parents as high school students and 98 delinquent juveniles aged 15~18 who live in detention centers for adolescence. The data was analyzed using t-test, cross-tab, correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis with SPSS /PC window program. Based on these results, the following conclusions were drawn. First, it was found that non-delinquent juveniles show a more open communication style with their parents than delinquent juveniles. Furthermore, a high level of parent-child communication was associated with high self-esteem in adolescents. Second, although physical environment such as family type or economic status influences an adolescents' self-esteem, the degree of positive parent-child communication style has a much greater effect on an adolescents' self-esteem. Finally, in terms of the effects of family environmental variables and parent-child communication style on self-esteem, parent-child communication style has a stronger effect on delinquent juveniles than non-delinquent juveniles. These results shows the importance of communication style between parent and child, especially for families with delinquent juveniles.

And there are differences in communication behavior by mother's age and schooling, differences in mother's communication behavior by father's age, schooling and occupation, differences in mother's communication behavior by child' sex and age. This study examined the factors affecting allowance management and buying behaviors and their interrelationship. The data were collected from fourth, fifth and sixth grade students of elementary students in Kimhae-city by a self-administered questionnaire. Frequency distributions, Cronbach's Alpha, Pearson's correlation analysis, regression analyses, and path analysis were analyzed by SPSS Windows. According to the regression model for the allowance management behaviors, the significant variables were the child's sex, term of receiving allowances, recognition of the allowance amount before receipt, parents' guidance before using allowances, parent-child communication about consumption, and parents' mediation of mass media. On the other hand, in the regression model for the buying behaviors, the satisfaction of the allowance amount, parents' guidance before using allowances, the amount of watching TV, parent-child communication about consumption, and allowance management behaviors were significant. Purpose: This study describes the ecological variables effect on child abuse potential and the results from a prevention program for parents with disabled children aiming at decreasing child abuse potential. Method: Data was collected from 30 parents with disabled preschoolers attending an early education center in a community. The program consisted of handouts, small group lectures, support group meetings on understanding the disabled child-parents relationship, communication skill improvement, non-punitive discipline techniques, and influences of child abuse. A non equivalent pre-post test design was employed. Result: Ecological variables, and parenting self-efficacy, had a significant effect on child abuse potential in parents with a disabled child. By regression parenting self-efficacy showed(27.1 %) child abuse potential. Both parenting self-efficacy and beliefs in corporal punishment directly related to (52.0%) child abuse potential in parents. The program was effective inbringing some positive changes on pareting self-efficacy beliefs in corporal punishment, and child abuse potential toward disabled children. However, marital discord was not significantly effected. Conclusion: Child abuse prevention programs should decrease thechild abuse potential in parents. Thus I recommend a child abuse prevention program development; for parents with disabled adolescents, and teachers in disabled child education.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the level of communication difficulty between child-care teachers and parents and teachers' job satisfaction on teacher's emotional labor. Methods: The data of 137 questionnaires collected in Y city, Gyeongggi-do were analyzed. The respondents of the questionnaires were teachers of 0-5 year old children. Statistical analyses were performed using frequency analysis, explorative factor analysis, independent t-test, One-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis at the p < .05 by SPSS 24.0 program. Results: First, there was no statistically significant difference on child-care teachers' communication difficulties with parents by sociological variables of child-care teachers. Second, there was no statistically significant difference on teachers' job satisfaction by sociological variables of child-care teachers. However, there were significant differences on the sub-factors of job satisfaction by teaching careers, types of workplace, and marital status. Third, these two factors were found to be important predictors of child-care teachers' emotional labor. The main results were withdrawn as follows. First, the communication between child-caring teachers and parents has a negatively significant effect on the child-caring teacher's burn-out. Second, the child-caring teacher's burn-out has a negatively significant effect on child-caring teacher's efficacy. Third, the communication between child-caring teachers and parents has a positively significant effect on child-caring teacher's efficacy. Fourth, the child-caring teacher's burn-out has a significant mediation effect between the communication and the teacher's efficacy.
