  • Long-term use of digital screens in daily life can lead to computer vision syndrome including symptoms such as eye strain, dry eyes, and headaches. To prevent computer vision syndrome, it is important to limit screen usage time and take frequent breaks. There are a variety of applications that can help users know the screen usage time. However, these apps are limited because users see various screens such as desktops, laptops, and tablets as well as smartphone screens. In this paper, we propose and evaluate machine learning-based models that detect the screen device in use using color, IMU and lidar sensor data. Our evaluation shows that neural network-based models show relatively high F1 scores compared to traditional machine learning models. Among neural network-based models, the MLP and CNN-based models have higher scores than the LSTM-based model. The RF model shows the best result among the traditional machine learning models, followed by the SVM model.

  • Estimation of the presence of people in real time is extremely useful for businesses in providing better services. Many companies and researchers have attempted various researches in order to count the number of floating population in a specific space. Recently, as part of smart cities and digital twins, commercialization of measuring floating populations using Wi-Fi signals has become active in the public and private sectors. In this paper we present a method of estimating the floating population based on MAC-address values collected from smartphones. By distinguishing Real MAC-address and Random MAC-address values, we compare the estimated number of smartphone devices and the actual number of people caught on CCTV screens to evaluate the accuracy of the proposed method. And it appeared to have a similar correlation between the two datas. As a result, we present a method of estimating the floating population based on analyzing Wi-Fi Probe Requests.

  • In this paper, unlike door locks that are controlled only by the existing keypad because electronic devices can be easily operated through apps on smartphones in modern society, an app was created using app inventory so that door locks can be controlled using smartphones. Through the Bluetooth module experiment, the communication distance with the smartphone was controlled up to 10m when there were no obstacles, and through the voice recognition experiment, the recognition rate was 85% and 90% at 500~1000Hz and 1000~1500Hz, respectively, and 70% and 80% at 80dB noise. Through the results of the experimental evaluation, it was confirmed that convenience and security could be improved.

  • Various efforts and technical development for integrating the ICT technologies to the area of special needs education have been continuing. In this paper we have studied and implemented various ICT-based disability evaluation websites and mobile applications for special needs education and also verified their usefulness from the field test at disability schools. The valuer can access the websites and mobile applications for autistic behavior or learning disability evaluation at the any places and by any devices such as laptop, PC, smartphone and tablet PC. And all the evalation results are stored into and managed at the server database and shared with websites and mobile applications to integrate together easily. From the study about disability evaluation and implementation results we have a confidence that they will be useful to support the seamless evaluation and the continuous monitoring services for the disabled at the special needs education fields.

  • Roblox, the world's No. 1 metaverse platform, has more than 3 billion subscription accounts and more than 150 millionmonthly active users (MAU). Despite such high interest in metaverse, existing studies on analyzing the risk of cyberattacks and security in the metaverse environment is insufficient. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new steganography-basedcovert communication method in Roblox. In our proposed method, a secret message is hidden into an image by using a function provided in the Roblox Experience environment and then the image is automatically stored in the RobloxExperience participants' devices (PC or Smartphone) so that a malicious software can extract the hidden message fromthe image. By our experiments in the Roblox metaverse environment, we validated our proposed method works and thus want to inform our proposed method can be used in various cyberattacks and crimes such as the spread of secret commands, the establishment of a steganography botnet, and the mass distribution of malicious malware in metaverse platforms.

  • They are rapidly evolving malicious attacks on smart devices, and to timely protect the smart devices from these attacks has become a very important issue. In particular, smishing attack has emerged as one of the most important threats on the smartphone. In this paper, we propose the cloud service that can fundamentally protect the user from the risk of smishing attack. The proposed scheme provides cloud messaging service that can filter text messages including URLs in the user's smart device, view and manage them through a virtual machine provided by a cloud server. The existing techniques for preventing smshing attacks protect only malicious code of a known pattern and there is the possibility of error such as FP(False Positive) or FN(False Negative). However, since the proposed method automatically filters all text messages including URLs, storing, viewing, and managing them in their own storage space on the cloud server, it can completely block the installation of malwares(malicious codes) on the user's smart device through smishing attacks.

  • In this paper, we designed 1 chip IC for 3-axis gyroscope and 3-axis accelerometer used for various IoT/M2M mobile devices such as smartphone, wearable device and etc. We especially focused on analysis of gyroscope noise and proposed new architecture for removing various noise generated by gyroscope MEMS and IC. Gyroscope, accelerometer and geo-magnetic sensors are usually used to detect user motion or to estimate moving distance, direction and relative position. It is very important element to designing a low noise IC because very small amount of noise may be accumulated and affect the estimated position or direction. We made a mathematical model of a gyroscope sensor, analyzed the frequency characteristics of MEMS and circuit, designed a low noise, compact and low power 1 chip 6-axis inertial sensor IC including 3-axis gyroscope and 3-axis accelerometer. As a result, designed IC has 0.01dps/${\sqrt{Hz}}$ of gyroscope sensor noise density.

  • The growth of mobile devices in Internet of Things (IoT) leads to a number of intelligent buildings related IoT applications. For instance, home automation controlling system uses client system such web apps on smartphone or web service to access the home server by sending control commands. The home server receives the command, then controls for instance the light system. The gateway based RESTful technology responsible for handling clients' requests attests an internet latency in case a large number of clients' requests submit toward the gateway increases. In this paper, we propose the design tasks of the IoT gateway for handling concurrency events. In the procedure of designing tasks, concurrency is best understood by employing multiple levels of abstraction. The way that is eminently to accomplish concurrency is to build an object-oriented environment with support for messages passing between concurrent objects. We also investigate the performance of event-driven architecture for building IoT gateway using node.js on one side and communication protocol based message-oriented middleware known as XMPP to handle communications of intelligent building control devices connected to the gateway through a centralized hub. The Node.JS is 40% faster than the traditional web server side features thread-based approach. The use of Node.js server-side handles a large number of clients' requests, then therefore, reduces delay in performing predefined actions automatically in intelligent building IoT environment.

  • Recently, many attempts have been made to reduce the time required for payment in various shopping environments. In addition, for the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, artificial intelligence is advancing, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices are becoming more compact and cheaper. So, by integrating these two technologies, access to building an unmanned environment to save people time has become easier. In this paper, we propose a smart shopping cart system based on low-cost IoT equipment and deep-learning object-detection technology. The proposed smart cart system consists of a camera for real-time product detection, an ultrasonic sensor that acts as a trigger, a weight sensor to determine whether a product is put into or taken out of the shopping cart, an application for smartphones that provides a user interface for a virtual shopping cart, and a deep learning server where learned product data are stored. Communication between each module is through Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, a Hypertext Transmission Protocol network, a You Only Look Once darknet library, and an object detection system used by the server to recognize products. The user can check a list of items put into the smart cart via the smartphone app, and can automatically pay for them. The smart cart system proposed in this paper can be applied to unmanned stores with high cost-effectiveness.
