Painter X의 한글 버전이 최근 출시됐다. Painter는 수채화, 유화 등 예술적인 이미지를 구현해 주는 프로그램으로, 포토샵보다 예술적이고 동화적인 이미지를 구현할 수 있어 디자인 및 사진 시장에서 새로운 조류로 각광받고 있다. Painter의 Auto Painting과 Clone 기능을 중심으로 손쉽게 제작하는 Digital Art를 소개한다.

Non-photo realistic Rendering is the one of the fields in Computer Graphics and many painterly rendering techniques have been studying. However studies about a specific painter are still in a rarity. Therefore in this paper, we studied about technique for generation of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's portraits. Toulouse-Lautrec was a painter in 19th century. His style of portraits was expressed as follows; the sketch was drawn by conte or pastel in croquis style and colored only focused parts like faces on the base colored area. For simulate this, we propose sequential technique about sketch style image generation and face area painting.

This paper introduces a dual-arm robot painter system which is capable of sketching a camera-captured image with short line segments. To express various curved edges in the image by combining line segments, we first apply edge detection algorithm to the entire image, split the edged image into small boxed pieces, and then apply Hough Transformation to each piece so that the edges inside the piece can be approximated with short line segments. To draw the picture within a reasonable time, we designed a simple dual-arm robot system and controlled both arms concurrently according to linear interpolation algorithm. From the experiments, we could verify that simple linear motions can describe various images effectively with a unique brush style.

수묵담채화에 대한 대부분의 연구들은 브러시, 종이, 잉크 번짐 효과 등과 같은 물리적인 모델링에 집중되어 왔다. 이 모델들은 그림을 잘 그리거나 타블릿 펜을 잘 이용하는 사용자들에게는 효과적이지만 툴 사용에 익숙하지 않은 사용자들에게는 만족감을 주지 못한다. 본 논문에서는 수묵담채화를 자동으로 생성하는 기법을 제안하고자 한다. 수묵담채화에서 주로 사용하는 테마인 풍경이미지를 사용자로부터 입력받아 이미지 처리 기법들을 이용하여 수묵담채화를 생성하는 방법을 제안하고자 한다.

이 논문에서는 화가의(Painter's) 알고리듬을 사용하여 3차원 자유형상곡면(Three dimensional free form surface)을 가시화하는 방법을 개발하였고, 특히 선체형상은 Open 균일 B-Spline 곡면으로 정의하였다. 컴퓨터그래픽스를 응용하여 와이어프레임, 숨은면제거, 묘영등의 가시화를 위한 프로그램을 완성하였다. 또한 선체곡면의 순정을 검토하기 위해 Gaussian 곡률값을 15등급으로 구분하여 등급별 색(color)처리 하였다.
